HG doesn't pay to have toys made, they demand money from folks who want to make the toys, so they're not going to be any help. If they sell well it might convince B2Five she's with the investment.

These appear to be reverse engineered from the Mega House toys. Since no Houquet there, no Houquet here? Seems lazy though, all the partsforming should side-step the bigger problems Beagle or Sentinel would face..

WTF? We went from ScarJo is going to lose (which loses sight of why the suit exists) to ScarJo should sue herself for insurance purposes? I'm glad ScarJo isn't paying MW for legal advice. Maybe we should focus more on talking about super heroes and their movies... that's more up our alley. Speaking of which, the ONE reason I do want to see this film is the talk about how this movie passes the Black Widow torch to her younger sister. I'm sure there will be future Marvel movies I find really interesting so when she suddenly pops up I'd rather be like "Oh fun, it's that girl" instead of "Oh, guess she's the new Black Widow." I've also heard lots of talk about horrible Russian accents. Should Marvel be facing a controversy for not hiring more Russians in this film OR is it okay not to hire Russians because they'll largely be depicted as the bad guys in this film?

No Time To Die - Bond 25 and future movies
jenius replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'll pass and wait for No Time to Die Hard... Which I assume will take place in a nursing home during Covid. Seriously though, I'm not having much fun with Bond movies. The first DC one was fun.- 96 replies

The movie made $80m... It's opening weekend in actual theaters. I believe the movie is actually projecting profitability which would be very impressive given the climate. I haven't seen it... Probably won't for a very long time. I feel like everyone on the internet thirsts for negativity.

When wealthy individuals/entities sue each other, there's usually a lot more at play than the lawsuits. Picking apart the legal merits here may be failing to see the forest for the trees. It's also presumptuous to assume what impact this might have on a career... even HG and BigWest are working together now (haha, maybe a bad example). In business, I frequently see the entity who files the lawsuit has done a pretty savvy calculation of what the lawsuit will cost to defend and has concocted a number of ways to drive that cost up and is ultimately looking to settle for a lot less than that number. I've heard someone say "It will cost you $60 million in lawyer fees and 2 years of your life to get a ruling on this or you can pay $40 million and admit no fault and end it today." Maybe that's all that's happening here. Maybe the point of the lawsuit isn't money at all, maybe it's publicity or a principle. Maybe the lawsuit is a statement by a powerful and wealthy woman meant to escalate her standing somehow by taking on Goliath. We have no idea... so saying "Meh she's stupid, she's going to lose" might mean you don't understand what the actual goal is. I mean, she's an actress, even if she only gets a bunch of press from this, it's easy to imagine it might lead to more work and be in a better position to negotiate so very easy to recoup her costs, and it seemed like her Disney days were coming to an end anyway.

[Netflix] Masters of the Universe: Revelation
jenius replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm not tearing down not woke people necessarily. There are a million ways to pick apart any media that are all valid but saying "oh it's woke" sounds more like a personal problem. It could mean the media is fantastic but you're just sick of having every show represent established characters in more inclusive ways. Like when a character changes race or orientation, maybe it's still a good show, the person complaining it's woke just doesn't like the old character being changed. That tells you more about that person than the show. -

When someone says something is "woke" it generally says a lot more about them than the media they're criticizing. -

Clearly you're a lot more invested in your He-man history than I am... but the original show was "HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE" right? So, when a follow up show drops the name He-Man.. i mean, it's a clue? Just sayin'. As I said before though, the trailer was all sorts of iconic I HAVE THE POWER for a show that's all about nobody having the power any more, there's plenty to feel misled about. -

You know the Netflix show isn't called "He-Man" right? I just checked it out. I've never watched He-man as a kid. I agree that it felt like a bait and switch from the trailers (not the name). That said, having no connection to He-man from my childhood, I wasn't offended by it. I think the famous voice actors do the show a disservice (excluding MH). The voices are too recognizable and agree that SMG doesn't seem to fit Teela. I did enjoy the retro stuff, especially the intro to episode 1. I would guess that the overall story is leaps and bounds better than anything that's ever appeared in He-man previously since 80s cartoons were more commercial than show. The Snake Mountain stuff was a bit creepy... not sure how my kids would handle that. There seemed to be a nice escalation of the stakes toward the end of the arch as we get some death and the threat of a more permanent death from the character spared death. It'd be fun if they did five episode archs focusing on a new character each time. I'll check out the next five episodes when they're available. -

Are they reissuing them? Maybe just showing off previous projects? I thought for sure we'd get a red shoulder at some point.

Is the scale wrong though? Looking at the still from the show, Hikaru looks pretty big in it. Did they ever publish dimensions?

Disconnected intakes in that GERWALK pic have to be a mis-transformation right? It doesn't seem like this should be any different from the other VF-31 toys.

Simplified MegaHouse Ride Armors in a smaller size? These promise very limited articulation with the possibility of a very fidgety experience... yeah but I'll get 'em.

In Robotech universe the Bioroid would go up to about the hips on the Alpha. Cap recalculates scale based on the show rather than measurements that often don't agree with what's depicted. His Alpha would be much taller than the Sentinel.
