Need help with my Lansay Gakken Alpha Tread Fighter
jenius replied to Raytype's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I hope this is a joke post since you're a newb. A Lansay Tread would be worth $1K pretty easily, they've gone for more than $3K. That said, if you "killed the Tread with a box" the fighter you have left over is really common and worth $30 or less. -
I wonder if the Tamashi deal has fallen apart under closer scrutiny by Big West. BW: "So you're going to sell this in America huh, how'd you pull that off?" Bandai: "Oh, it was clever, we're going to do it under one of our subsidiaries." BW: "Oh, our license let's you do that?" Bandai: "We think so." BW: "Tell you what, why don't you give us some time to figure out whether or not we're going to sue you."

I really like the idea of using Ryan's positive attitude, energy to help around MW in some way. Crap, I really wish I had a better system over at my site so I could bring him on to help. Miriya, it's a good thing to second guess yourself occasionally as to whether or not what you would write needs to be written (and I'm not saying this specifically to you but to everyone in general). Don't let that diminish your enjoyment of anything though and there's no need to think you're going to be persecuted if your post seems silly.

New arms design/rethink for VF-0S new release - Overdrive rep talks to
jenius replied to ruskiiVFaussie's topic in Toys
I just got done picturing up my VF-0S with fold booster for a review. I'm happy to report as all other VF-0S/Booster owners have reported, the shoulders appear to be fixed on that version. I took off the cover and saw no evidence of stress marks. I'm curious if the fix employed on the booster version was just too expensive for Yamato's liking (if they made it all out of POM like the rumor was) and so now they're trying to work out a cheaper fix... -
Sure, we all stir up drama and go off topic once in a while, it's bound to happen intended or not, occasionally. While you and I seem to be friends of the Edit button, it isn't too uncommon to see others who make a post, then another post, then sometimes even a third post, especially when they're directing comments at other members (as often happens in the spam-laden threads). It works something like this: 1) Member A: Oh my God, I fart! 2) Member B: I pooed today! 3) Member C: I pooed in Eugimon's Omega Pants! 4) Member D: Yeah dude, I smelt it. 5) Member D (again): I totally pooed also! 6) Member D (yet again): Your mom is in Eugimon's Omega Pants!!! Seriously.... there just isn't enough STFU to go around sometimes but I also view the forum from work quite a bit so I assume that my more serious work attitude coupled with the 5 minutes I have to scan through topics makes me a little more finicky. I also know that my pissing matches with Exo and Hurin probably didn't make for fun reading so I've been shrugging off the spamming for a long time and now that I've vented for a moment I'll go back to ignoring it when it pops up. I hope that Ryno's Permaban doesn't hold and he convinces the mods to change their minds and comes back still exhuberant and passionate toward Macross but a little less apt to spam and with a better feel for when it's time to back off the mods. Failing that, I do hope to still hear from him on other forums and sites...

Maybe MW should have a new rule... no consecutive comments within 24 hours meaning: If you made the last comment in a thread, the next comment MUST be made by another member unless 24 hours have passed.

I liked Misterryno and think he's a good guy but I would readily agree that MW has gotten super spam heavy lately and Ryan was definitely doing his best to keep that up. The amount of utterly irrelevant posts was creating pages of nonsense (obviously not just his but there seems to be a few other members that follow suit). I know we're all guilty of the occasional spam, and I don't think anyone should ever feel guilty of posting a comment that just says "Wow, thanks!" or "Woah, that is Suhweeet!" when it is well deserved and umpteen accolades haven't already been dispersed but reasonable limits had easily been surpassed. Too many times it seems members forget that these threads have topics and subjects that are meant to be stuck to. MW doesn't have a "Casual chat for idle hands" region for a reason, that stuff can be done at RT.com. So, I like the guy but I believe he earned his suspension and I'm a little surprised he was only given three days after continuing to spam after repeated warnings, PMs, a custom title, and Lord knows what else the mods may have tried to reign him in. Now onto the banning. Seriously? 48 hours of no MW and the guy snaps and makes a new account? Not only that, he jokes with Hurin about taking his avatar. Ryan, WTF? All this after you saw the mods ban someone else in the Black List for having multiple accounts... it's obviously something they can figure out. So, I still think misterryno is a good guy, and I look forward to him being around again at some point, but I think like a month away or something may actually be beneficial to him. I don't think he quite got the lifetime ban that A1 had and even A1 has made his return so I hope and expect we'll see the same thing with Ryan... and hopefully it will be a calmer Ryan who posts about 25% as often as the current one. Seriously, I feel like I'm posting constantly and I think he had me beat after my nearly four years to his one. Sorry Ryan, hope you're doing well - EDIT - I can't count how many years I've been here.... and I'm an accountant.

Look at the side-by-side shot I did where all the Valks are looking left with Super parts, the 1/60 v2 looks more correct than the v1 so I'd guess the v2 is the more accurate.

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
jenius replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm not a big VF-25 fan but I'm still really looking forward to this toy. There's a lot of hype factor here and I can't wait to see if it lives up to it. Can you imagine if the DX looks subpar AND has shoulders like a Yamato product? Goo, there will be calls for violence! What I'm hoping we see is a complicated toy that feels sturdy... a vibe Yamato had largely been missing (up until their recent 1/60 v2). I won't be shocked if things go in much different directions but that's why I'm excited. -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread

If the resin prototype has articulated hands why are their comments that the toy won't have them? Is that stated someone in the writing? -
Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
jenius replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This reminds me of what I said about the GNU. They should have just charged the extra $10 to $15 and made them transformable. -
You're forgetting that the GNU frame isn't implemented in whole on all GNU toys and that the parts of the frame that are implemented are often blocked by the outer shell of the toy. I wouldn't expect future versions of the YF-19, YF-21 or VF-11 to be any more poseable than the current batch.

I prefer the 1/60 2.0 generally in sculpt to the 1/48 but I'm still on the fence about the modified head placement. Was anyone really that bothered by how low the nosecone went?
-
I came up with a design of the VF-1 that would have built in side parts. It's a bit tough to explain but the arms that are suppose to move the leg into place could be used on a toy to then swing up and become side parts. If Yamato did a version 2.0 I would love for them to do this. You could also incorporate a pivot joint in the chest so the toy could hunch forward. My plan for the legs would also make the waist way more useful. If one were to also incorporate a way for shortening the wings the toy would be absolutely amazing. Best of all, I think it'd be more durable in some ways. But this is all pipedream stuff.

Remember a while ago when that redesigned Mospeada art was published? I think it was Aramaki who did it and he said he'd like to revisit mospeada. I think one of our members here also managed to track down Terada who also expressed interest in revisiting mospeada. Chances of that happening? I could only guess nill.

Well folks, I think I just posted what ought to be my most controversial post ever (it's a quick run down of each VF-1 toy). Check out the comparison shots by clicking right here.

They're making all four so the green one will be the third but I think it's safe to say Toynami won't be making any changes between repaints.
-
I have the Toynami Beta on preorder. Toynami isn't the most efficient distributor though (so it seems to me). I've preordered a few of their products now and it always seems a complete crapshoot on who will get the item in stock first. That said, I'll definitely drop everything and review it when mine comes in.

Macross Frontier Episode 24 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Lame ^. Ride armor is so much better... and it's pretty much the same thing except it transforms and kicks @$$. -
I guess that would depend on your perception. If you see new toy releases as fortunate, then it would be good luck. If you really enjoy hearing things are mired in delays or have a fear of new releases for budgetary reasons then these releases by month end would be bad luck. I've been very skeptical that any of these toys would hit their release dates but now it seems that CMs is on target but I'm still very curious as to whether this destroid will make its release date.
-
The strangest part of this whole bit is that the particular part and place that is breaking is extremely similar on a lot of other toys and there aren't any prolbems there. Heck, even the VF-0 toy has a very similar part and that's the one part that never breaks on the VF-0's otherwise terribly put together shoulder area. Then again, maybe that part would break more if the rest of the shoulder didn't crumble away before it had the chance.
-
Well that's pretty damning. Could be a number of factors. There may be a tiny bit of slop in the size of the hole the pin fits in allowing it to wobble a bit applying pressure to the housing around it. It could also be the fat hinge in the middle doesn't have enough room to maneuver so when the plastic is in certain positions it pushes outward against the thin plastic edges that house it.
-
I just asked whether or not this had been delayed and was told that there hasn't been any news that it was. So, with any luck the Yamato Destroid, CMs VR-41, and CMs Dark Legioss are still scheduled to be out this month.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
jenius replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I've heard of people looking at the resin prototype a VERY long time ago. I find it hard to believe Yamato is starting to show off the CAD now to drum up interest when they've got full blown prototypes lying around. -
Tough break (no pun intended) Misterryno! There's at least 5 reported then (and I think it's safe to say, on MW people LOVE to report their problems) so at least we're not looking at a full-fledged epidemic. Just the same, I think I'll make mention of this next time I update my 2.0 post (probably with pictures of the Super Hikaru when that comes out).
