  1. They ought to be very similar in scale... but I don't own one (a Matchbox version) to take a side by side pic with the Yamato I have. Do you own one a Matchbox destroid? Tell me how tall it is and I'll track down a tape measure for you and we can compare. I'm fiddling around with my destroid now. Definitely no LEDs but my initial impression is very positive. $100 positive? Shiz no. $50 positive? Yes. There are nice metal reinforcements within the joints though, that's pretty cool. There are so many points that move it's kind of astounding... some of the joints are very stiff (like the knees I couldn't even tell bent at first) but a lot of the others are a little looser than I'd like (though nothing floppy).
  2. The US handled Star Wars... even the second trilogy. Minmay's singing being something a cultureless enemy finds worth saving isn't too much harder to buy into than dropping a bomb on something not much larger than a womp rat (or however that old star wars quote goes). Hey, we spent how many millions on a movie whose premise was a mobile planetoid base that didn't have a shutter on an exhaust port? If you handle the subject matter well anything can happen. Of course, you can always RT it up by just using singing as a culture shock too.
  3. Mine just came in... if no one says something definitive about it I should be handling mine later and can tell you about it. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have an LED from the glimpse I took though.
  4. I'm not offended, I'm trying to help you not look like so ignorant. I see it's a lost cause.
  5. That depends, it sounds like it might just be that one batch of the VF-1S had a pin installed upside down.
  6. If you want to blast Hollywood that's good times. If you want to blast certain Robotech fans that can be fun too. When you start saying rubbish like "Americans are some of the most ignorant people in the world" you only expose how truly ignorant you are. Don't stereotype any group, it's dumb and classless.
  7. The wheels are both pretty far back on the backpack which tends to shift the center of weight further back. I do hope it can manage but I have some serious doubts.
  8. so balance issues seem inevitable. Oh well
  9. Johnny, Jack, and Jim... the three wisemen Focker style!
  10. You just want them to make a Houquet so you can get her naked! I'm onto you baka! My VR-41 CMs and Dark Legioss are en route but I think I'm going to do the Yamato Destroid review first... I might have a very nice review going up this Monday also of something Macross Plus...
  11. I got my shipping notice from Overdrive. Now I just need to decide if I want to do a review of the Destroid, the CMs VR-41, or the Dark Legioss first...
  12. and Macross was conceived as a parody... whoa!
  13. lots of options. If it's just a fit problem you can dab a little something (some people just use clear nail polish) on the peg that fits into the wing's hard point to thicken it up so it will stay. That said, this is the first time I've heard of this problem with the VF-0.
  14. Nah, overall I like these toys so if you have any modeling talent and some patience you'll probably be really happy with them. Most the stuff that breaks or gets loose could be fixed very easily (and many of the cracks that appear don't really affect anything anyway). They're considering what's on the table for Wave 3 is considered the super parts, wave 4 is the weathered 1S Hik, Roy, and the VF-1A CF. Wave 5 is just rumors at this point but it looks like the GBP is a pretty safe bet.
  15. Overdrive just started offering replacement Yamato parts, you should try them.
  16. My review is up! Go to it by clicking here
  17. It looks like they glued some Zentradi ships to the SDF-1.
  18. Last episode was a mixed bag. I liked it a lot but I didn't like the direction and felt the tempo swings were a bit jarring.
  19. I'm completely with Sqidd on this one. All you had to do was mail in coupons to get the TV-1A... there's gotta be a ton of people who mailed in a ton of coupons specifically so they can sell them later.
  20. Wait, so why can't the Mardook be similar to Earth or the Protoculture? Why can't the Mardook just be a very old group of humanoids who at some point the Zentraedi visit and yet the Mardook overcome them with their culture? The humans end up fighting alongside the Zentraedi so maybe the Mardook did the same thing but with a much nastier means of doing so? You're argument that "it would suck if they were just human-like and not protoculture" sounds more like an argument for "The writing of MacrossII sucks" then it does to proving the Mardook are Protoculture. I mean, talk about common sense, if the Mardook are the PROTOCULTURE why aren't they called Protoculture? You would think that if someone were really going to make that connection they'd just go ahead and do it but instead it sounds like the people involved with MacII have gone out of there way NOT to say that.
  21. This place is funny. When Yamato was working on the YF-19 I kept sayign that the size of the front landing gear shouldn't be an issue 'cause they could make it telescope with a twist lock (to potentially reduce the "gullet" effect). Almost everyone who read that suggestion told me a telescoping front landing gear was the last thing Yamato should do because it wouldn't be able to handle the weight, etc. So what, everyone thinks Bandai can make a sturdier landing gear? What's all the battying about the landing gear anyway? You're NEVER going to see it on your shelf unless your shelf is eye-level. It's not like this toy has Toynami's MPC Alpha problem of resting on its chest.
  22. The Vajra also seemed to settle places they overtook... so would that mean we could surmise that it was actually the vajra that finally wiped out the PC? Okay, I guess we can't really come to any conclusion of the PC yet... I'd still like to hear more from them in the future.
  23. I wonder if George didn't just get his wires crossed and was talking about when Beagle planned on having *their* release ready. Last word I heard was Beta this quarter and Cyclone the next for US releases. I could look further into it but hey, if George says this Christmas then maybe that's what we should hope for. Seriously though, I'm guessing next Christmas.
  24. The big wheels are actually a hair too big. I'm hoping they either shrink them back down a tiny bit for Houquet or that they modify the position they rest in in armor mode as to not rub up against the shoulders.
  25. I wonder if we'll have to jump through hoops are win a drawing to get that weathered version.
