Um, get the 11 a year from now when it's marked way down. Right now I'd buy the 21... that's my favorite of the Mac Plus toys and it comes with more goodies than you can shake a valk at.
-
You should go by what the design crew did for the models, not the animation, for the markings. Obviously things were kept pretty plain for the animation. All military bikes would have some emblems, numbers, warnings on them.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Can't help on 1 but if Overdrive-inc has any they're guaranteed to be second edition since they sold out of the first edition instantly. 2) Ozma with GBP is either a late August or September release, it will not be an exclusive and should be readily available 3 and 4) the accessory packs are sold separately as exclusives, there have been no announcements they will ever be sold with the toys as a bundle set. This means you have to buy the toys and then find a way to buy the accessories (Luca's Ghost, Micheal's fold drive) separately. -
A visor? I don't follow.

You pull off the sides of the backpack revealing a big hole. The missle booms in the fast pack set comes with new sides to the backpack. I can't remember if there's any way to hold them in place as to not have to worry about the backpack falling back. If you haven't seen my review on anymoon.com, I'd check that out.

It definitely does vary but GCM wasn't very detailed to begin with... not many cartoons were back in those days. I think the best indicator of what should be painted on comes in the form of the sticker sheet provided. I suppose the argument could be that Beagle left it as bare as possible for those folks who really wanted a cartoony look but I think a super realistic model/toy should come with super realistic tagging.

A tip for all of you who are upset because the seat comes so easily removed from what would be a fuel tank in bike mode. I found that on both my Stick and Ley I can tighten this area up quite nicely by making sure the shock (and everything attached to it) is in the perfect position. If your shock isn't clicked into the dead right spot then you get more slop up top because the fuel tank isn't pressed as far back as it can go by like half a mm.

New post is up at Anymoon.com, check it out by clicking here.

I'll bet the part count on that 1/100 with GBP is going to be sheer insanity.

Another Keanu Reeves vehicle???

My Beagle "Ley" finally passed customs and is in my possession. Sadly, I have to go out of town again on Friday and won't return until very late Sunday. I will try to put up a very rough post with first thoughts tomorrow evening but we'll see... if that looks like it's not going to happen I have another mospeada related post ready to go.

I have an image of Graham holding several parts and saying "Aw crap, it's not a parts-former??"

the newer ones didn't show up.

I dunno, in combat mode I would think the visors would be down or, at the very least, the helmet would be on. Maybe the helmeted heads should have a focused look while the helmetless heads retain an at ease look. After all, if I'm just going to pose Ray next to his bike I don't want him to look crazy angry... the character was a lighter spirit throughout the show.

When they make a Weathering Roy, I'll buy that one (unless it's super hard to get ultra exclusive/expensive). Otherwise these are pretty expensive and easy passes for me. I will keep buying the weathering edition destroids though, I think those are fun and a little less scary to handle than a transformable toy.
-
Man, I keep hoping to find one at that price... then again, I guess I could just stick to collecting the Japanese versions. As for the heads above, I think both are pretty decent. My girlfriend prefers the Toynami sculpt, I think I like the Beagle.

It isn't really "debate" but more like a few crazy people clinging to the notion. There has also been some issues with accurately dating the teeth but usually that boils down to "is the tooth super old (30Million years) or just really old (2 to 3 million years)?"

Tatsunoko may have been purchased by other companies but I believe it still operates as its own entity and is the current license holder. http://www.tatsunoko.co.jp/english/index.html

I totally disagree. Saw Star Trek today and thought it was a solid film. Part of what I liked about the film was the familiarity with the characters. By using the characters everyone knows and loves the writers didn't have to work so hard getting the audience to know and love them which frees up screen time for something a bit more exciting. If it wasn't Kirk being born in the first scene I probably wouldn't have cared so much about what was going on. Some vulcan in a fist fight? Who cares? That's not to say I loved the time travel aspects but I've accepted them as part of the ST universe and ST was in DESPERATE need of a reboot. Kudos to the folks involved, hopefully future installments can make it seem like time travel is a done deal. EDIT - Disagree with UXI that is that they could/should have used a new cast.

Yacolog's review should be up in the next couple days, keep a look out!

I have to argue semantics on this one. Version 2.0 implies (to me) a complete overhaul of the existing product like we saw with the 1/60 VF-1 partsformer to the current 1/60 VF-1. That's a huge leap forward. The 1/60 YF-19 doesn't need nearly that kind of leap forward, what it needs is the kind of tweaking you generally see in a "second edition." It's essentially the same toy but the manufacturer listens to the early adopters and makes some tweaks like adding more areas to lock, sturdier parts in areas prone to breaking, etc. A second edition YF-19 should have a smaller Isamu figure (from the 11B), a chest that locks in battroid mode, and some tweaks that make it come tightly back together in fighter mode.

Macross World Blacklist Thread
jenius replied to Totoro242's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
I'm on board with all of this... generally I think MW has a better proportion of civil and intelligent members than most other corners of the Interweb but it seems the BL and FS/T posts often make people forget their better judgment. If an item in the FS/T section is too expensive for you to buy and the seller doesn't mention taking offers than accept it's too expensive and move on, don't b*tch about the price. The BL got so crappy at one point I gave up on it. Comments like "Oh man, if someone did that to me I'd punchisize their face!" left too much comment spam for me to sort through. -
I can't check my personal email at the moment but I'm pretty sure Overdrive confirmed they'd be shipping the Ray Beagle tomorrow, it seems odd their site shows it in stock as of the 25th. I also am thinking that any day now a Japanese blogger will be lighting up the Interwebs with a blow out that will likely include the first reveal of the Toynami tweaks (if any) just like last time.

I agree, the YF-19 doesn't hold together well enough. I'd come short of calling it a floppy mess (well, GERWALK is kind of a floppy mess) but I've definitely been frustrated plenty of times getting fighter mode to come back together well. I think it's still a really good toy, best YF-19 without a doubt, but not nearly as stellar as the YF-21. I own the YF-19 Fold set which helps me feel a bit better about it since it does seem like a more substantial toy with the super parts and booster but I'd probably take the VF-11B over the standalone YF-19 even if the VF-11B is pretty small in comparison. Don't expect to be seeing the YF-19 repaints on my site any time soon but I did preorder the VF-22.
