Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This is not how it's supposed to be. The boosters are attached improperly on the wings in these photos causing them to angle in a tiny bit. It's a very very easy mistake to make. You have to push the booster in on the spike a bit, it's a little scary and hard to explain, but if you do things properly that part becomes very hard to pop off or move left or right and the fins also are clear of the boosters. When my review goes up i have one pic of Alto's parts on with the fins clear (although there's a bit of a camera angle issue making it look as if one fin might be getting hit by the imaginary boost). My Luca review will also have a picture from behind of the GERWALK where you can clearly see there is no issue with the fins being behind the boosters. -
You painted Luca wrong... he's supposed to have at least three different shades of green randomly over various parts. That's a joke. Love that Luca with ghosts display, everything is very nice.

I should be posting a review on mine tomorrow. I hadn't heard anything about a missing triangle though, what piece are you talking about and how many people have had a problem with it? -
I don't think scrapping it makes much sense because it would continually need to be rebuilt as shoulders will continue to break the longer people have the toys. If we scrapped it, everyone voted again, then once again six months later we'd be right back in this perdicament. I think we should just trust David's efforts to get this to as close to accurate as possible.

I think you're shoe-horning. Ranka isn't being used for culture shock (so definitely not the same function), she's being used as a control method like how Sharon controlled the masses. Again, the combination of a big trippy hologram and Luca setting the Ghosts free is a pretty tight parallel. The Minmay Defense was also a tired defensive system humanity had come to over rely on which contextually is about as far as we can get from what happens with Ranka. What happens with Ranka at first seems damn near magical which is again, Sharon territory.

Just an FYI, I got Overdrive replacement arms a week or so ago for my Roy 1S and they were fine. Still, I do half expect I'll be ordering another pair in another six months and hopefully those will be the "fixed" version.

You going to Comicon? If my girlfriend has her way you're going to see one helluva norte americano Sheryl with a size 0 body with c/d cups. Sorry, I'm trying to convince her not to but she keeps hinting that I may not have a choice.

I don't think they can announce any news on a new Luca until the ones in stores have sold significantly through... it'd be terrible business sense otherwise. The new Alto has holes in his back for some accessory that the original Alto didn't have, I think that's it. -
Overdrive now offering replacement parts for Yamato
jenius replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Got my Focker arm's yesterday from Overdrive with my Bandai DX toys. I'm pretty sure Overdrive just submits requests for parts and then doesn't do anything until they arrive. If Yamato never responds then I doubt you can expect Overdrive to respond. -
He was talking about Gakken who had some sweet prototypes (like a deluxe Blow Superior and a Tread toy) but never managed to release them due to less than expected sales of the Mospeada line. MH hasn't gotten that far with their Bartley but it's definitely starting to give the vibe of a dead line.

tears... oh the tears. We will strike your rant about everything pertaining to this conversation and leave "laws are hard!"

Just got my Super parts, Michael, Luca box. After a dinner party tonight I'll start taking pictures. I did take Luca out and looked at him under normal day light conditions and couldn't see a color issue. We'll see how well he holds up under the bright lights of my photo set-up! Alto's parts go first though. -
I'm actually very okay with that. After all the epic failures of companies to make removeable accessories that work well in small scales, and having these VF-100s be a billion parts already, having the armor fixed makes a lot of sense to me.
-
That's just silly. Yes, it's absolutely up to the owner of the trademark to be aware of their own trademarks and to keep them from being dismissed. That is common sense. If you're dealing with a litigious community all the more reason to be more aware of the legal ground you stand on. BW got lazy, probably figured there was no risk of HG being that big of a douche, and got burned.
-
Re-read the original translation: Which means that if the transformation were exactly the same the armor might have worked with the first release... and in order for that to happen you would need to be able to remove it and put it on the other toy.

I took some pics of VFC 2 over on my site, here's a sample: See all the pics by clicking here.

I would want to fly the VF-25 in that pic... at least the VF-25 can look left or right without staring directly into its own chest plate. Beyond that MacII designs (I suspect) are generally dismissed by many Mac fans for just being obvious re-works of existing designs. There's essentially nothing original about the VF-2SS, all it is is a simple 90s-ifying of the VF-1 design.
-
I sold bunches a while later Now I just have one of each... well, maybe a few of the blue one but those were already sold out when RT.com marked them down to $39.99.
-
They were on sale at Robotech.com for a long while for $39.99... I bought bunches then and that's how I managed to get a few that are nice. Now that the Beta is out I doubt you'll see another price drop.
-
I too prefer my mechs to look a bit beefy... and to lack faces and boobs. Beyond all that, meh. If you want more derivative attempts for your future mecha look at the (relatively) new mecha look of the MacII mech designs. Those were essentially just 90s-ified VF-1s and they turned out alright. Personally, I'm glad the canon stories involved fresher mechs (although there's certainly plenty of inbreeding from a design standpoint). I think a lot of what makes the VF-0 seem too modern for its era also comes from what the animators could do and think of now that we've got a bit of 1980s future behind us.

I hear my two new DX toys and Alto's super parts are on their way! I can't wait to play with 'em and picture 'em up. Of the DX toys, which should I do first? 1) Michel, 2) Luca, 3) Alto Super Parts? -
Go to the upper right where it says options then click display mode.

I don't know Ravenhawk, i don't speak Japanese but it looks like the ad shows it handles the gun better, connects better to the tread (notice the big red box showing a tighter connection), and has larger intakes and new gun accessories. The bomb clusters would be a big bonus as they're the only thing really stopping a full representation of the art they emulated. Also, they should have changed the cradle so the big metal hubs didn't prevent the Tread's legs from being positioned correctly. Adrian, between the girlfriend and work I'm more of a lurker these days in many ways but I'm very happy to have both. Now tell Takashi to start shipping those new DX toys so I have a reason to ignore the gf and work for a day or two .
