    Macross figures

Are those replacements for the tiny models that came with the crowd funding game?
  2. Not according to the dictionary: retrofit [ verb re-troh-fit, re-troh-fit; noun, adjective re-troh-fit ]SHOW IPA EXAMPLES|WORD ORIGIN SEE MORE SYNONYMS FOR retrofit ON THESAURUS.COM verb (used with object), ret·ro·fit·ted or ret·ro·fit, ret·ro·fit·ting. to modify equipment (in airplanes, automobiles, a factory, etc.) that is already in serviceusing parts developed or made available after the time of original manufacture. to install, fit, or adapt (a device or system) for use with something older:to retrofit solar heating to a poorly insulated house. verb (used without object), ret·ro·fit·ted or ret·ro·fit, ret·ro·fit·ting. 3. I suspect they had some 0D returns the first time around with a detached leg but thought it was a fluke. Then they got lots of 0A returns and realised it was an issue. The 0S doesn't have the issue so hopefully we're done with those concerns BUT Yamato had improved their shoulders before they released the VT-1 and the shoulder problem resurfaced so... It should be resolved.... But we'll see.
  4. Yeah, max VF-1A back to back with the Arcadia SV-51 and the Sentinel VR-041 is a lot of cash out the door in short order.
  5. I asked early and was told "sorry, we won't carry it". I asked again today and was told "sorry, we're sold out."
  6. ooh so it's officially on the street huh? Interesting.
  7. I finally grew enough stones to do this review:
  8. Here's the breakdown: VF-1S Focker released in January. They worked something out with the factory to make some early and the rest later. The 'later' group was the second round of POs that was due out originally in April (i think) but is now due at the end of this month. The black/gold VF-1S Fokker should be out or out soon... i don't think i've seen it in regular people's hands yet. The VF-1J Rick is a December release. I think it always has been The 1/12 Rick Hunter figure was due July of last year is now due by the end of this month The 1/12 Lisa Hayes figure is also due in December.
  9. What glue did you use? I tried a couple and the failure was fast.
  10. That's a misunderstanding of what I was saying. What I meant was that HG should have sponsored a new show... NOT explicitly a Robotech sequel. A show that could have been a standalone product in Japan that fit the genre of all the shows that went into Robotech that then HG could give it the Robotech treatment. Basically, Robotech needed to stick to adaptations of existing shows rather than try to craft its own new material. No one at HG was suited for creating anything from the ground up and had no value to add to that process BUT they did have the funds (at one point) to pay for an entire show... Had they sent Tatsunoko a check and said "we want a 26 episode series featuring human protagonists with transforming mecha exploring a new galaxy full of hostile aliens" things could have gone a whole lot better for them. Instead they couldn't get out of their own way.
  11. You mean CMs Dark Legioss? Aoshima never made one. The Toynami Maia is basically an Aoshima toy... it features all the 'upgrades' Aoshima made so it might actually have a safe chest.
  12. There's not much to tell yet. Apparently Sentinel will be supporting whatever Genesis Breakers is with a line of toys. My guess is a Manga? To clarify a previous point I made, that Tatsunoko and HG should work together. Robotech is cobbled together from three shows. Instead of Robotech making a sequel, they should look for a fourth show to cobble in (which is why Robotech fans are always trying to glue on Macross sequels to Robotech). A sequel to Mospeada is an obvious way of doing this. Shadow Chronicles should have NEVER happened. Instead, HG should have tried to work with Tatsunoko to make a Mospeada sequel (enlisting Aramaki and crew) OR a completely new show that could feel a bit like Mospeada. They could have called any random old guy in the show Rick Hunter when they dubbed it to English and they'd be done and probably have a much better product than Shadow Chronicles. That's from the standpoint of what HG should have done. It could have made sense for Tatsunoko too, would have helped them fund a random mech anime and, even if it did awful in Japan, there would be bigger upside if it did okay internationally as the long awaited sequel to Robotech.
  13. You definitely should be too scared to transform the Alpha. I've obviously been handling my Mospeada toys a lot lately and the MPC Alphas are falling apart in a BIG way. Ones that historically seemed to be the 'good' ones have started crumbling. This break is worst: I suspect the Aoshima chest isn't as prone to this breakage since they did something different with the chest intakes... since I haven't had an Aoshima chest break on me I haven't had one apart to take a look. I think of the 8 MPC Alphas I've handled lately, at least 3 of them have either broken in the chest in the years since I played with them last or broke during my transformations recently. Once that part is broken it's a fighter mode only toy short of doing some very invasive repairs. I also experienced a crumbling hip joint (that gray plastic) recently. Basically... leave 'em fighter mode... Even then, my Scott had the toe fall off when I was handling fighter mode

  15. Somebody called for reinvforcements?
  16. A regular edition 0D was released, not a PF. A PF 0S has been released so now we'll just be waiting on a PF 0A.
  17. But like why are they doing that? Generally good guys don't get taken down by a coordinated effort...
  18. I'm being patient... I played the "what will it look like" game with this bird before.
  19. Well Mospeada isn't exactly Shakespeare and there's plenty of awfully written anime and Hollywood blockbusters out there. It would be pretty jarring to get thrown onto a sequel of a story you wrote that had been rewritten and I don't know ANY writer who wouldn't insist that the rewritten parts were junk and bristle at the notion.
  20. I think an important distinction to make that sometimes gets lost for folks is that Kawamori does not work for BigWest so for him it's even more frustrating. BigWest feels like they ceded rights they did not intend to cede but, for Kawamori, there's a version of the thing he helped make where he's not properly credited on, was never consulted about, and received no compensation for. In fact, BW's very negative stance toward Tatsunoko may be to help them with their relationship with the artists even though it was BW that opened the door for all the problems by putting together an awful contract with Tatsunoko..

Sylvie did well, the less than stellar releases were: Nexx VF-2SS Destroids Messer VF-1S Hikaru VF-1J TV version Max's VF-1J also made it to clearance sales... that said, most only hit mark downs of like 30% and since I think 50% is standard mark-up, I don't think retailers are feeling burned by the line. Nexx and Messer are probably the biggest losers and Messer has finally come back around which is good for stores to see.
