A boring scheme but it looks like they're giving it decent consideration.

It'd be nice if they could tout some improvements.

I'll buy one reluctantly... Not my favorite frontier toy.

Oh wow, I thought these would be significantly cheaper.
-
Oh they even have the boxes behind them, maybe they'll be out soon.

It looks like ThreeZero also shipped out their RoboDou Scopedog. Mine is ordered from BBTS so I'll be lucky to have it before year end. I think when that arrives I'll do a comparison of the HMR and RoboDou.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't check that out. Way to go KC for making the extra effort. Maybe the future has light and heavy artillery pods sold separately. If they go that route, they really ought to include the extra standard head lasers with each one and make them just a tad more expensive then the regular unit.

Shawn, did you get it? I'm so curious about it. As a custom, whoever did this put a lot of work into it. Lots of paint stripped, new paint applied, maybe costom stickers on the forearms, custom backpack and vertical stabilizers, and a custom head. Maybe it had resin guns that didn't make it. Curious though that someone would do all that work and not make the head 'eyes' green. This is like a custom trying to be a prototype VF-1D toy rather than a custom trying to be a VF-1D.

Could we glam onto Robo Toy Fest somehow? Looks like that happens in the middle of the summer though.

IIRC, there were no changes in markings on the pre-order page so I'm not expecting them to go there.

They used the Bandai strategy of a two pack of battlepods with the additional weapons. They may have sold out. I'm curious if we'll get two standalone battlepods and a weapons accessory box and they will then make the weapons for sale individually. That would be the easiest way to do it.

I got mine in! And I should be getting my regular release today also.
-
I moved to a visual V2 release schedule that may be helpful for future reference.

HMR was run by a huge Macross fan in the early days but projects rotate within Bandai and focuses shift so the line has just been plodding along for a while... Nothing obscure like scout regults or destroids.
-
My understanding is that the toys were expensive so they were marketed to adults with the premise they were easily modified like models. Paint it like any Valkyrie from the show!

I want to believe! That backpack, if painted, looks very well done. If resin, then the color after all these years is fantastic, as is the quality. Are the arm stripe stickers orange or red?
-
They could have, but since they're indistinguishable from the parts on other toys, you'd think a customizer would just paint them. The head looks slightly discolored so that made me think maybe it was resin but seeing the backpack made me pause.

Okay, 1/100 but this surprised me... a 1/100 VF-1D KO. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t1157557958 If it was a custom... it's very legit looking. The backpack is molded in orange plastic from the look of it.

@Anasazi37 turned me onto 3D printed replacement head lasers and all the details necessary for anyone with a 3D printer to make their own. I made a quick video about it and also included the information in my review on anymoon for people years from now who buy one 'New in box' and discover this issue. Thanks Anasazi! Here's the link to the cults3d page: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/replacement-antenna-laser-for-the-bandai-dx-yf-21

Wow that's bewildering. I wonder what could have caused that. Like maybe hand or mold release oils transferred to the cloth and reacted with the dye somehow over a prolonged period of time?

New Macross Animation Announced, to be animated by Sunrise
jenius replied to seti88's topic in Movies and TV Series
You can't be hung up on any element too much because at the end of the day, if the story is compelling, all the characters and setting can be new with only subtle links to the original(s). I wonder what Macross would have been like if it didn't live in Gundam's shadow. I think so much of what the creators strive to do is stay unique and separate from Gundam. -
It's unfortunate how it all went down but I think the best way to think of it is that the pilot figure was a 'early bird preorder bonus' and that the toy naturally will not include a pilot figure going forward. I believe it was confirmed the pilot wasn't included with the light/heavy battlepod set and it sounds like it won't be with the recon pod either. Then, when they start selling a pilot figure (probably a long time from now) they'll reach out to all those original 'supporters' and send them the accessory for free (except for shipping) and put it on the site for purchase for all the people who bought battlepods later to consider.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
jenius replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think that happens in the movies.
