I was thinking that if this gets fixed, hopefully mistakes can be avoided with future things like vf11. If yamato take thier time, not only will it give people more time to save up thier money, but mean better chances of not repeating the mistake and more customer satisfaction. Some people's toys might not break at all on first opening them up and then they leave it on the shelf for ages without touching and pick it up one day and "snap!" something will break. I'm glad the problems are happening early so fixes can be made to avoid more people getting them. So that's what I mean by having all the negative complainers use thier criticism constructively to help. If it can't be helped (due to not buying from HLJ or HG blocking things) no point getting angry, right? The question is: What are you going to DO about it to stop it from happening to others? Why not write a negative review, post it on the web so noobs to yamato toys get a more balanced opinion and can make a more informed decision? Maybe this will "frighten" the company to address the problem more quickly than had they only heard about it from a select few members of a small community? Your negative experiences are as valid as anyone elses and people look for as many different opinions they can get to know which releases are worth buying. Just don't write comments like: "yamato toys sucks" and then not tell us why, not show pics, or explain how it was handled, and what you are comparing the sturdiness of the toy to. (chunky monkey is a unfair comparison imo because it is less detailed, less posable, and is a toy for kids) People will tend to write you off as just a nitpicker trolling the boards to piss fans off. You can still hate the product and like the toy, but be specific about what you didn't like so others can know if it is just your taste that is different or a flaw with the toy you bought. For example many people will just assume adding diecast "improves everything" but I hate having a heavy toy that can't stand up and the battroid mode suffers when trying to pose on a stand. (legs will always droop down) This was why I didn't like the yf-21. Too damn heavy. Others might complain that the shoulders are too weak, but that is a flaw. Not a taste thing. We need to seperate the people who are telling us something sucks because "it is not to my taste", with the people that are saying something sucks because "I like the toy a lot but it is breaking up on me and could easily be improved." leading to not being satisfied with it for durability reasons. There is a subtle difference. Because people in the latter category will still buy the toy if the improvments are made and people in the former just hate the company and won't buy anything regardless. (these are the brand loyalists who have specific reasons for hating something like a toy not having a certain amount of diecast, not being rare enough to be worth "collecting", being out of thier price range in comparison to other toys of similar size and scale etc) This is one of the reasons you have people say witty things like: "If you dont like it don't buy stupid. Duh!" That may not work for people who want a high quality toy but don't mind paying a lot for it. It would be like saying to a collector "if you don't like masterpiece starscream don't buy transformers duh" One doesn't have to "not buy something" to not be given the right to wish for something better with time. You might not buy something, but still wish for that thing that you didn't buy to be improved before wanting to buy it. I won't buy an alpha not because I hate toynami (I don't hate toynami out of some loyalty to yamato or other toy companies) but more because I want a toy like it, that just doesn't fall apart. It's a big enough difference for the company that is being criticised to pay attention to, as the fans who put up the money are still going to be there with potential to pay more for future releases when feedback is listened to, vs the guy who just doesn't want to see more toys made by that company period and writes them off early. But as we've seen: toynami got voltron masterpiece right didn't they? Yamato screwed up with garland didn't they? It's not as simple as just saying something sucks based on label or brand and to "avoid buying products from that company and shut up" You take each thing on a case by case basis.

Yeah I often wonder if the japanese buyers would have taken the risk of buying the toys if they had been told they would get no support for broken pieces. But there is nothing you can do, apart from praying and hoping it doesn't snap or break one day or just hoping somebody can sell the spare parts. But if people say: "I won't buy any yamato toys ever again forever because of the problem", that is a bit extreme. They will be missing out on some great toys. Insted put that negtivity to good use by posting pics or offering suggestions on what could be done instead of the usual complaint of "yamato sucks, toynami rules". I don't care who made it, as long as the final product is good and hold together. I would gladly buy an overpriced alpha if the thing held together. No brand loyalty from me. If HG benefit from my purchase I don't stress that I'm helping a company that is normally seen as evil by macrossworlders. That is the difference between complaints: 1. Some complain because they know how much potential for improvement there could have been and didn't see it in the initial release. (even if it was in the making for 6 years, does it take into account wear and tear that could only happen when thousands of people are trialed? As some mentioned, problems sometimes only arise after the first release because the makers of the product didn't forsee these problems as being problems in the beginning when making it and they go unnoticed until years later. Software bugs might only pop up AFTER thousands of people use the software everyday for years even after bug testing. Bug testing is in no way a "garuantee" that you won't have ANY bugs. But it helps. I'm just saying nobody's perfect.) 2. Others do it (complain) only as a knee jerk reaction because they rule out that a future improvements would be made in the future and swear off the company forever. Ok so the konig monster is bit delicate here and there, but I'm still glad an attempt was made to bring out a toy of this. Maybe the experience they gain can be used for future releases to avoid the problems faced from prior releases? Having a light toy may help with posability, (and its big and people demand details) but if the materials are too brittle, it might mean the plastic snaps for those who are not careful. But how careful is the "average joe"? You'll only know from experience. Experience doesn't come from just predicting what will go wrong, you have to try it first before knowing right? There are some things you learn better after doing them and making mistakes, versus being told them and knowing everything from the beginning. Most people have to make a mistake first and then learn that way than just knowing how to be perfect on thier first attempt at something.

All those who have complaints: everything you buy has a little risk when it is just an upstart company learning. So long as they try to improve on the product that means the promise of something better. But you got to wait. VF-1 had the loose nosecone, Qrau was slightly improved, 1/72 vf11 had weak parts which don't show up till later. This is the equivalent of how an early adoptor who bought an xbox or ps2 may undergo some problems that are not present in later manufactured systems. Or how some bugs might get patched up on a piece of software because the software was rushed out, and the makers didn't foresee problems into the future. (try playing an online game where everyone is forced to cheat because patches and fixes have not been made yet) How I deal with it: I just tell myself you should never expect things to always go ok on the first attempt. Assume the worst and take a conservative approach and be more laid back. If you don't expect some imperfection you will only let yourself down. It's not that these toys aren't expensive, we can all agree that they are. It's just that sometimes it's not just a case of throwing "more money" at a problem to fix that problem. It might just need more time and effort on the part of the manufacturer to listen to thier customer to get the required feedback to fix before knowing everything and having a perfect release with little to no issues. (ie 1/48 VF-1 for eg. This thing destroys the toynamis! Even if expensive or overpriced I would still come back for more because it fulfills all the things I want to see in a detailed toy of the mecha - but it has had more time so later buyers benefit from feedback of the early adoptors who were there on first releases to point out any issues. No different to people out there who bought a high definition TV for a much more expensive price than it would be worth if they had waited for prices to fall and new technology to supercede the old, because they wanted it NOW. If you jump in early and are impatient you should expect to take a loss somewhere that a late adopter won't because they were more patient or held back for a little longer. Occassionally you will get benefits like less seam lines or the fact that you could own it before others, but these are outweighed later by changes in stickers, joints that are less floppy, and material changes to reinforce some pieces that were weaknesses of the first release.) Whenever a company like nintendo releases a new system (the nintendo ds lite with better screen than the original) I don't say "boo!" "you ripped me off because I wasted money on the original", I cheer that an improvement was made and hope the improvement keeps coming. There was nothing wrong with the original but waiting can definately have advantages. That doesn't mean that if you were not happy you have to swear off future purchases from that company forever. I think that is going a bit too far because you are not giving chance that whatever problems you experienced won't be addressed in future. Sure the original GBA that nintendo released had a dark screen and poor lighting problems, but look at the ones today and look at the improvements made to battery life and screen brightness. There is always hope for future releases to fix things. I'd rather be an optimist. I take this same attitude with expensive toys: wait, be conservative, but not go to one extreme and not trust the company again just because of a few minor flaws in the beginning. If you do that then it wouldn't surprise me that there is "nothing new made for macross", because it would be naturally assumed through poor sales that nobody wants the toys made. (as opposed to wanting them made but demanding high degree of quality before putting up the cash - a problem I have with toynami alphas. I freaking love the alpha but just have a high demand for that alpha to not break before I fork over the cash. If toynami one day improve enough so that the alpha CAN hold together and stand the test of time, then they can have my money.)
-
For me it's not so much that I am worried about it being major or minor but that I wish and prefer the toy to be designed to stand the test of time. I so wanted to buy an mpc alpha, but never bought it because although they look really good in pics, they can be too dangerous to transform too many times. If there is any way to improve what is already good, I'll take the improved version all the time. Durability is important imo. Banpresto's can get away with this since they are cheap. But yammies are larger, more expensive, and therefore should be held to a much higher standard. We'll probably still buy them, but over time I hope suggested improvements are made to get them as good as possible before release. No point taking risks and rushing. Tiny stuff like not having the gunpod straight are things that I hope get fixed in later releases.

Yes! I almost forgot this. Why did they decide not to model the locking mechanism of the bandai vf-19 for thier yf-19? I hated the fact that the 1/72 had a floppy upper body. Is there any way they could fix this problem for future yf-19 because it is one of the major ones for me. 1. cracked arms issue: will things like that be tested for future stuff like the yf21 or any other future macross toys? (hypothetcally speaking, I'm not saying it wil definately come out but this will affect how I am going to save my money to get one - I like to plan in advance as I can barely afford all the new releases coming out all at once.) 2. Is yamato going to make non-canon paintschemes for macross plus assuming there will be yf-21 and vf-11 releases like what we've had in the past with the 1/72 macross plus toys? I ask because I plan on getting a black yf-21 Fast Pack version in similar appearance to gamlin's VF-22 from macross 7. 3. Why won't you let graham tell us what the 80s robot show is? I think if we all knew ahead of time we could better prepare to afford the toys. What happens if a fan can't buy them on release (not enough money) and then has to wait a long time to save up before he can get the toy? And then has to pay a higher amount later because the toy is harder to find or the availability is scarce allowing various sellers to price gouge? 4. Macross II. Is it ever possible that mecha from this ova could ever be done in toy form by yamato in the near or long term future? Because of the similar transformation of the valkyrie in this show to the vf-1, I think it would be easy for yamato to start with doing toys based on them now. (as well as any of the non-canon destroids or non-transforming alien mecha in the anime) 5. Lastly: About mecha from macross games: we have seen the monster from VFX-2. Did this do well? What are the chances we see other mecha like the Variable Glaug or others in the near or long term future?
-
Was that the vf19? Yeah I have that. But I still want a sturdy version of the yamato 19 (maybe this will get improvements like the vf0?) and will wait wait wait until they get it right rather than rush them to release it. Take your time yamato, iron the bugs out. It's not like everyone can keep up. They should assume the toy can't stand up to abuse vs thinking it can. (as thier history with 1/72 showed) They should give the customer the benefit of the doubt and that users are not just clumsy or rough with them. That is my main fear: knowing I can't get a fix in any way because of the HG issue and the natural assumption that I am rough with the thing so the issue isn't really acknowledged or taken seriously because other people don't complain or just choose to suffer in silence. So it is an added layer of risk which wouldn't be there. Hell, I remember a few months ago people were complaining about how fast they were releasing everything. So time isn't an issue for me as much as perfection. 1/48 VF-1 set the bar high. I would hope they get it to that level of customer satisfaction where people can feel safe handling, transforming and posing them without risk of wearing them out or damaging them. When the SV-51 comes out, and given the price being ore expensive than the 19, there is going to be even more scrutiny since it looks even more delicate than other releases. I will be relying on reviews and impressions even more.

Sorry to hear that bro. Like I say: I was one of the lucky ones who came upon this site to read up on all the reviews before paying up front. As beautiful as a toy can be, you want it to last. It all started with me wanting to get some good masterpiece grade toys and I had been looking at the Toynami Masterpiece Collection of vf-1 that they had on the robotech.com site. I heard about yamato vf-1 and came here. Read up on the impressions, and that is how I came to love these toys. (the 1/48 line) Skipped the 1/60 vf-1, skipped the early vf11 etc For those who got vf-11 without the FAST Packs, well I would say to them search for the 1/72 VF11 with the FP because these have improvements. If you heard the older releases have weaknesses, warn others. Post pics. Complain and voice it so we can get as much info on it as possible before others commit to a purchase. It works! My advice is if you want it now badly be prepared to take a risk on newer releases. In my experience, you want all the flaws to be discovered first by others before making a commitment. It's not just toys but electronic equipment too. But at least go to the trouble to show where it is so others can look for them or people will just think it is an isolated incident. I wouldn't have known much about the 1/72 releases and thier sturdiness or lack of it without first reading a review first. But I also rely on other people's experiences for a balanced view. (the garland is a good example: love the toy, but held off on it until I knew the thing would meet my standard of lasting durability. Transforming vehicles need to be handled.) I figure: If you are going to be paying a lot, why not research a bit on the product beforehand?

Looks like these broken shoulders on the VF0s are just battle damage mods. Shame on you all for trying to get a free replacement part. Stubby-fingered american ruffian!

Someone mentioned earlier about how the vf-1 Fast Packs are scary to take off because the hinge wobbles a bit when trying to pull these off. I totally agree with that statement. It's not so much that I think putting on the FP is a problem and locking them together isn't sufficient to keep them up, its more the taking off of the FAST packs that scares the poo out of me. I mentioned this a while ago and asked others if they get scared at that hinge wobbling and not many people think of it as being "scary". Glad I am not the only one. Of course all the 1/48 VF-1 stuff I own is great. It's yamato's best and sturdiest line so for all those complaining about quality in later newer releases, you need to be patient. Give Yamato time to see if they can fix these issues. It happens with game console manufacturers too: early adopters of xbox have the heating issues, noise issues and dirty disc error issues and only about 1 year later they experience some of the probs. These issues are reported and later-made versions have none of the issues the early ones had as the process is improved over time. No this is not an excuse just FYI as I have been burned too in the past, so I know what you are going through. But there is hope things will get better as the 1/72 vf11 has shown. I was lucky to only get into the whole macross toy collecting scene about the time when 1/48 and the 1/60 and 1/72 releases were pretty much all we had to go by to guage the quality of yamato macross toys. So yeah I have taken an optimistic view of this. Just because some other guy got lucky is not an indication all of them are going to be perfect. It's possible some people just got a bad batch or the design isn't sturdy enough to take a reasonable amount of abuse to suit those people who are used to handling much sturdier toys from other toy manufacturers. So long as they strive to improve in later releases I will still be interested in what they have in store for us. I just refuse to be the early adopter who has to take all the risk and instead would rather wait for a 2nd or maybe even third run if I have to, to get the best version possible. (the one with close to no issues with it at all) Since the shipping cost is high, and the toy is expensive, this is a reasonable stance to take. It's not that I don't trust them, but more that it pays to be patient and see if they can stand the test of time first. (ie 1 or 2 years into ownership, do they seem like they are going to break down or explode just from touching or transforming?)
-
I agree with the above. Also maybe just release limited numbers of Alaska base green vf-1. Tv fat hands and all. This might make people curious about the paintscheme because it is only seen for a short time in the tv series. Maybe the fan who has everything will be enticed to get all the tv series stuff because it's "less available" or something. The thing about the tv series is things generally feel more epic, that there is a like a gundam like range of paint variations for the same thing. Brown vf-1, angel birds vf-1, ace pilot colors with super packs painted in the matching scheme, special hikaru white with red trimmings vf-1J etc. The tv series and all its variations has probably been the collector's only incentive to want to buy the same thing all this time. You don't get this with the transformers as much. If in the future they start adding more details like tampo printed markings and painted missile tips that would be a nice excuse to buy another vf-1. As of now though, macross plus and zero is going to be a huge drain on the pocket. I hope the profits they make from all this can go into making us the rarely seen mecha like vf-4. The fans deserve that. VF-1 has been done to death. Leave it alone for a while.

I never really liked the detaching legs of 1/60. Only the Yf21 should do that. When the yamato 1/60 YF-21 is revealed (ok if it is) only then can you say "it's more accurate to the anime." You never see the legs detach from the body of the mecha in the anime. I just think they say "it's more accurate to the design" to make you buy one. Like when you go into a shoe or clothing store and no matter what clothes you try on or shoe you put on, and when you look in the mirror to see how it fits on you, the shop assistant always says: "Wow you look really nice in that!" over your shoulder. 1/60 although they have proper beefy man hands, unlike the 1/48 version are imo the poor man's valk toy. (like what the 1/72 macross plus toys will be, next to the 1/60 macross plus toys. Collectors are crazy for seeing value in the superceded stuff. It's like paying huge sums of money for a black and white tv because its old. I'll never understand it..Don't you just want to invest in the most superior version of something? The moment the 1/48s get outdone by another company (lets say in the future when we are old men) that is when I will be selling them to upgrade to the best thing. (so long as they are better quality)

Ruskii: whoa that brings back memories. I used to watch boris breakfast club a lot as a kid. Everytime that guy would say robotech, he would purposefully and annoyingly, roll his tongue on the 'r' sound. So what should have been robotech, was "LLRrrrooobootech!" Yes there are certain aspects to robotech that I liked better than macross, mainly the music for the zentradi when they would mount an attack on the humans. It just sounded more rock and metal influenced than the original music. Now I much prefer the original after having seen the movie DYRL and wanting to see more of the original TV series. (story was different and things made a lot more sense) Macross is still the best out of the three "robotech sagas" and now that it's easily available (you can get the dvds of all 36 eps with eng dub) there isn't a reason now for fans to not abandon RT terms and use the macross ones. But people have to understand though that anime wasn't really widespread enough to have any kind of lasting impact except on cult fans. No market for it back then. It really wasn't until about the time Akira came out that there was an effort to try to expose more of it to the masses. And HG not showing the credits wasn't going to help much either. I am a little reminded of how sometimes a foriegn videogame sometimes undergoes a few localisation changes to americanise it more to be more appealing or understandable (or censored) to that audience. But in RTs case, it seems like story was just butchered unecessarily to a point that the fans of that or not that same as fans of macross. Enough of a difference between the two to have one fan clash with another on things. (eg sizes of vehicles, names of characters, events and deaths that never really happened etc) This is what I remember most about the boris show: every morning he would ring the bell and say: "Get up, get up! Get out of bed! It's time for Boris' Breakfast club!" I think when aggro left that show there was this other puppet called o'toole or something. I think it was a monkey with glasses or something. Anyone got pics? Hehe sorry to derail the thread. BTW been ages since I checked the boards: the last two days have been me drooling at all the pics of SV-51. Looking at how skiny that mecha is I wish they would try the variable glaug as a surprise release the same way we got the koenig monster. Not that my wallet could ever keep up at this rate.. I just think the glaug and more bad guy mecha need to be done. I bought the overpriced Qrau and if they do the glaug and others I will buy these..eventually. I decided to wait for the 2nd run of yf19 and hope for improvements gradually introduced along the way. I trust that yamato listens to feedback (both negative and positive) and like what happened with the initial 1/72 vf11 toy; which started out fragile before the final FP version came out, I hope they take the same action with the other mecha. (gently balance tightness of joints and sturdy materials with just enough detail and gimmicks in the toys to be worthy of being a display piece that you could play around with and handle.) The 80s toy that is upcoming: I bet will be motoslave, (was bubblegum crisis really popular in japan?) however if it is at all possible a mospeada Legioss, that would awesome. (if yamato tell us early it will mean I can start saving now. come on enough of this secrecy crap. With the money spent on the toys, I doubt many people have spare change to afford to buy the print magazines. ) If the show is orguss, will we get the orguss valkyrie armor?
-
I may pass on this and buy whatever pack comes out that includes the fast packs plus spacefold booster thing. For once I think I might actually prefer to leave this valk in fighter mode now that I think about it. I can picture some person trying to pick it up and whoops the whole toy falls apart (well upper body flips back) and it ends up in a not so flattering position.

Shoji Kawamori's Opinion of the VF-4

Science and Technology MEGA THREAD
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Max Jenius's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Interesting article on wireless energy for the future: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6129460.stm Could mean you won't have to plug your wireless xbox 360 controllers into any kind of play and charge device when it can just be beamed. So my whole idea that the VF-19 should have its wings detach for space to act as gundam bits (using the hip laser in the wing as the weapon) wasn't so crazy at all. I would like to see valkyries with more use of drones like in macross II. Not just as cameras (macross plus) or as a booster, but as a "mini drone" like how they have micro missiles. Now the idea behind this is instead of using fancy flying manuevers like max does in his VF agaist a Qrau micromissile swarm, the pilot when he senses a swarm of micromissiles heading his way opens up a hatch that releases these micro-drones, armed with lasers just strong enough to shoot down the micromissiles for him while he transforms to bot mode to shoot them down with his gunpod. (ie see roy in macross zero as an example) Because there isn't much to hide behind in space (no cover) these would be the ultimate defense against the "micromissile swarm of death", short of having a portable full barrier system on the valk that doesn't overload. Because they are tiny they would be quick enough for short range combat and could get in line to fire in time so there is little lag. They could also work in formation so they could shoot in true 3d and cover all the angles. In ground combat it might not be useful since they would have to keep themselves floating in the air, and you don't typically get attacked from strange angles (like below) when you are standing on something. But in space it could work in times when micromissiles surround the person from all angles, (above, below, and around you) but which you could only shoot in one direction at any one time which would be too late to cover you if they hit simultaneously from different directions. The advantage is the lasers the mini-drone shoot could be used more than once, if you rechage. And there would be no risk of damage to you from something "exploding in your face" that might happen if you try to have your own micromissile launched to chase an enemy micromissile. -
post the pics if you can. I might be more delicate in future with it knowing that the tightness may be stressing it.

Just finished reading the long review. Good work. Pretty much everything I wanted to know about this was covered in it. Too bad about the lack of ability for swept wings and the floppy torso. I was hoping the toy would be like the bandai vf19 fire and blaze valks where you could tip them upside down or pick them up from the upper chest area. Oh well there goes the plan to hang them upside down from the ceiling in stylish, acrobatic, zero g, close-range-combat, battroid gunpod-fighter poses. (no just joking, I don't really do that. Standing upright as ground combat poses is enough for me.) Maybe in another 7 years they will have all those complaints adressed. I'm still young.. When/if they get to the vf11 in 1/60 or aproximate size, I hope they find some way to get the wings to stretch right out to the sides. You can't do it with the 1/72. edit: so does anyone have any suggestion about how they could make it not have floppy upper torso? I think that is the main thing for me. I would like to have Battroid modes as firmly locked as the fighter mode.

"Protoculture" makes its way to mainstream!
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to reddsun1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think it would be cool if history books had a section on protoculture. When will people realise that it was genetically modified giant alien clones created as bioweapons in a lab by a superior civilisation, that actually built all the pyramids and that we are descendants of the PC who fought them in all the legends? I think Kawamori should make a religion similar to scientology out of macross. -

The thing I like about wing is there is not as many cheesy looking stuff in the universe or history to look back into. But its somewhere between a fighting anime, and mecha anime. Each gundam is almost like a character in a fighting anime with its own personality and style of destroying stuff. But one thing it's missng is how the old gundam shows had the epic space feel to it with ships fighting other ships and underdogs trying to escape from the Empire.. oops I mean zeon. When I first saw it, it just seemed less star warsy "epic" to me and more like a dragonball z ish feel, with emphasis on cocky kids with a bad attitude and not on the usual "wussy kid crying and finding a purpose to fighting after seeing his friend/mother/father/pet dog/village brutally killed/destroyed by X organisation" But I think Seed adressed that which I think was missing from wing. You have a crew in a ship, inexperienced but skilled, and taking into account the environment of the combat (space, ground, air, hilly, desert, inside confined places etc) with people sometimes getting beaten once in while, (brings some drama) and running from something just like star wars/MSG and some ofthe characters actually die. So I would say Seed is even better than Wing now, as a "first-time" gundam show to see because it has all the missing ingredients from the old shows, but just with new characters to make it easy. (without the cocky "fighting anime" character feel you get with Wing where people can withstand impossible amounts of punishment) I would say watch Seed (its new but more faithful to older gundam) and then wing. (easy to get into like seed, but less believable/realistic battles and tactics) If you're really crazy and prefer less realism you might want to try G gundam. Yeah, I found it goofy (not a fan of the mecha) but it was surprisingly watchable for the story. Master Asia kicks ass! -

Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return

But I thought fans would have liked that the robot modes matched size more since the MP line is all about the character? I know that if I had a choice to display megatron, I would prefer him to be displayed in his robot form fighting against optimus prime in his respective robot mode. Megatron's alt mode shrinks in the cartoon anyway. Just think of his gun mode as shrunken enough for a random decepticon robot to hold but not for a tiny human. hehe.. At one point doesn't prime himself hold megatron when they team up in the cartoon? And what about when starscream holds megatron? I'm sure Megatron can be whatever size he needs to be for whatever robot needs to hold him comfortably and use him as a hand carried weapon. But I'm with those other who would prefer megatron as a tank. I know how iconic his gun mode might seem to fans, but for me I care more about vehicle robots and animal robots more than robots that turn into non-vehicles and other half useful stuff. If they must make him a gun, just make masterpiece galvatron instead since he is a cannon which for me is just a little more believable. -
Been a while since I checked back here for new pics. Looking good. Fighter mode doesn't look too bad from the side once you get used to it. The wings being able to sweep back would be a great thing to see. (I also want the wings to sweep forward like in the anime for the vf11 if they ever get around to this. You couldn't do it on the 1/72) Come on, let that be one of the hidden gimmicks! Oh and does that fold booster light up? Would be cool if they showed pics of it lit up. Would make a good christmas tree decoration.

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So hunter didn't kill people on earth to get at the invid? I thought it would have been better that way. They could seperate Robotech Rick from macross Hikaru and make rick this guy who the newer generations have to fight against. (ie have scott be more sympathetic to the invid and have the two characters go against each other.) I think in robotech the invid weren't really all that bad when you consider that all they did was find earth and make it thier home because they were short on the energy source they use to survive. They made deals with humans and let them live. Whereas rick allowed the attack at the expense of the people still on earth. It made the humans look worse than the aliens. They could have made rick less of a captain global clone that way. -
Maybe that explains why in the story so many pilots couldn't handle the 19 until Dyson. Dyson gets the dangerous plane.

Seen the last eps. Really nice ending. Eventually I bet the humans merge with the aliens and become thier mind controlled zombies. As the bad part of humans corrupts the aliens, the aliens reject the humans and kill them off. (some of the aliens are racist and want to keep thier side pure of any evil influence, knowing how warlike the human race can be. Think of the inbit in mospeada as an example) And that little kid when he grows up has to bring peace to the world like renton and his dad by falling in love with an alien. This endless cycle of killing and sacrifce to bring peace, sustains the population and solves the problems of having too many humans competing for control over earth. There were some episodes where I thought the colourful aliens were pretty ruthless when they attacked the inncoent civilians. They didn't just attack the soldiers. I think a good idea for a sequel would be if some humans tried to study them in a lab and make weapons out of them to try to create a hybrid alien-human but with the powers of an alien, and the appearance of a human. But the twist would be both sides killed each other off and had to start again because thier weapons were too powerful and almost destroyed the earth completely. Then the coralian would move to another planet to live and merge with another alien species until eventually over millions of years the universe had been "merged together" completely and it got lonely and depressed again because it kept raping the original species of its freedom through the hostile merger/takeover. /joking only I think it was a good ending though. Very satisfying and wrapped enough up. Waaay better than seed destiny. And those fight scenes were freakin awesome. No recycled animations here! Imagine if they did a remake of macross with that smoothness? I might try to watch the whole thing again to recap on the whole thing. Because it took so long to sub, I can barely remember what was going on from episodes I saw previously.
