  1. Looks awesome. I will leave it in fighter mode.
  2. Are there any reviewers out there who can ask to be sent a sample from CMs for review? No point waiting 3 years for a review from buyer just because nobody was brave enough to buy it. It's just too much money to take a risk on without first knowing what it is like.
  3. Oh and I also think if they were to make a sequel to Mospeada they should copy the idea of a slimmer powered suit that can control a larger powered suit (more like the size of a power loader from aliens than a suit to be worn) like BGC. Even macross is sorta going down this road with the EX Gear thing. The suit is required to control the giant robot. Also I think the bike that transforms into a seperate robot/larger powered suit, is a better and more realistic design than the ride armor from mospeada because of the transformation. It's just too dangerous I think to jump off a cliff and expect all the bits of the bike to exactly line up to where your arms are flinging around and expect not to get killed. Instead the rider of the bike would 1) skillfully jump off the bike by flipping off or doing a boost assisted jump. 2) The bike would transform into the robot while the rider offers covering fire to the robot. 3) robot would walk to the rider acting on a command given by the rider to follow her. 4) the rider can enter the motoslave robot when heavier weapons are needed, or just continue to fight in the more agile suit for speed. I think that is better than having parts fly all over the place in the air and magically stick to you as you transform. That way an inbit could be killed with a few shots regardless of whether it hit them in the eyeball. The bullet could penetrate the armor and they could kill groups of inbit with a motoslave sized machine.
  4. Yeah I would say the original took inspiration from the terminator 1, blade runner, and aliens (look of the dobermans?) movies where everything was dark and dystopion and like batman the knight saber would work at nighttime. During the day they are ordinary people working in lingerie shop, as police, then at night they would become heroes using advanced suits to hunt boomers because the police are held back by crappier technology due to that same technology coming from the corrupt corporation that builds the rogue machines that go out of control in the first place. (our attachment to technology from the evil corporations who misuse it, makes us just as guilty in that case since we are making them rich and powerful to be able to push us around, so that even the police are powerless to protect innocent people) Knight Sabers in a way are like the kids in the gundam who go independant from the government (who need to enter an arms race with other countries for power and then eventually become part of the problem) or the corrupt corporation (arms seller trying to profit from death and get rich): they follow only the noble principles of the knight which is concerned with protecting innocent people caught up in the corrupt world more than taking a side and "getting even" or exact vengeance. (since you can't trust anyone in a corrupt world where the good guys; in this case "police", are just as capable of doing bad as the bad guy) Yes they are hypocrites for accepting jobs for money, (like how the police relies on Genom for its weapons so won't make too much a fuss to piss them off) but that money they make maintains the suits, repairs them, researches new way to improve on them to build better ones, so they can keep going. (the flicker of hope within a dark room) I like that in the original they are not 100% clean and the world is dark like terminator 1 or blade runner. I think the newer one is too bright and optimistic, sort of like a kids show where there is definite good guys and bad guys. (i dunno astro boy, transformers, gi joe ect for example where you can never doubt the hero) I get that "kids show" vibe from the more bright take on new BGC which doesn't have those 80s science fiction influences. Maybe it's to do with the way it is coloured, or that there is just more shadow in BGC, but I think original BGC tries to make the boomer more like a monster from a horror movie which is something terrifying (like the cyborg from terminator after the skin is ripped off) that is missing from the newer BGC which lacks real horror. (which is more like "Totally Spies" or something lol) BTW totally spies actually ripped off BGC in one episode that I remember seeing on tv. (not that I watch it, just that it comes on and I caught a glimpse of these suits they wear which are clones of the BGC suits. Don't ask what episode it was from but they definitely stole the design from BGC.)
  5. The one with the 80s hairdos is the one you want to see. It's the one with the rock, metal music of course. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com.au/encyclo...nime.php?id=201 I hope the police suit (was that called the k12?) and the suit that the vampire chic uses which thinks she's dead and tentacle rapes her, hopefully get done. (I think Priss probably has a lesbian relationship with her which we probably don't see in the anime - too bad she was just a robot) There are some other animes that are spin-offs of BGC too, like "AD Police".
  6. Who would win in a fight? 1/100 toynami in GBP or the Banpresto in FAST packs? I think the banpresto would put up a good fight with the sleeker appearance and smaller shoulders. It wouldn't be too top heavy in battroid mode if they had to fight at close range with only gunpods. The large shoulders of the Toynami would probably be an advantage if they had to fight unarmed though. The stronger upper body might prove an advantage if both were wrestling. Banpresto would explode and the parts would fly off, while the toynami could easily be foot swept and fall to the ground harder from its own weight contributing to a harder fall. (skinny legs means wobbly balance you see.. But GBP would make it a litle harder. Just that I don't see the toynami having the patience to stay in robot mode for long and instead want to eject the parts early so it could fly around to chase the banpresto)
  7. They should call it the VF-25 Valkyrie Girl or just Valkyrie Lady. (see below) Because the pilots have to dress up as valkyrie girls (in the form of those EX Gear things) to pilot them. And because Alto is one it would suit the theme of the first episode, since people keep making fun of him. The New UNS is desperate to get young girls to dress up as valks to fullfill its fantasies. Alto is chosen to pilot the new VF-25 after being mistaken for a chic.
  8. I think he just got a tall basketball player to try to transform it and this is what the camera is showing with the enormous hands, and the guy speaking in the review is the actual reviewer. It's a trick! There is two people in the room. heh only kidding.
  9. That guy has bubble hands though. I wonder if these are selling well despite them being flawed? I want the price to drop.
  10. I will be buying some provided there are no flaws. I hope the CMs Ride Armor toys are what gets version 2 though..
  11. Yeah good choices. I was thinking of kusanagi just then. mythological weapons list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Mythological_weapons Any legendary shields?
  12. I like that the vf19 was after a legendary sword. Got any other legendary sword names?
  13. Macross II came out before macross plus though. So PPB on a valk wasn't a known thing in the universe when II came out.
  14. VF-25 Valkyrie II
  15. VF-25 Chimera would be one I think matches the personality of this valkyrie. It's a mixture of two different beasts: the vf-1 with its variable sweep wings, the vf-19 style transformation, taking the power and speed of the latter valks, but allowing it to have the flexible upgrades of the former valks with the super and full armor packs that were used from the first war to increase the performance. It appears to be a hybrid child of those two ideas imo. So it has the strengths of the two other designs but doesn't appear to have its weaknesses. It improves on the existing design with the ability to use armor in gerwalk which makes it unique too. I would like the VF-117 to be the "Dhampir". A vampire-human half breed. It would be the nightmare but for mass production making it seem less scary for the CF pilot because its for average guys to use but still looking cool/scary/intimidating like the VF-17 Nightmare. Chimera: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_%28mythology%29 sound a bit like the Nue, of studio nue. Nue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nue Dhampir: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhampir If not Chimera for VF-25, I would just go with Raiden which someone else suggested. It reminds me of the arcade shoot-em-up with that fighter in it.
  16. Something I hope CMs may one day wish to fix. Because I like the PT of this toy despite the flaws like the breaking windshield. Hopefully japanese are complainers and will demand more value for money. (better finish, increased size, fixed windshield etc)
  17. They hopefully are changing their ways now though. Which means we might see other valkyries which they neglected in the past for the future like the stuff in macross 7 redone if we all knock on wood hard enough. So why are the "yamato fanboys" unhappy? What could happen is they never give up the license for macross F for others, and decide NOT to do other mecha which other companies are willing to do if they had the license so that's what I'm worried about. (ie like how we never saw the vf-22 that max and miria used in macross 7 or the black vf-22 that gamlin used in the mac 7 ova which is something I wish yamato could do but who can't due to no licence *sigh* It's the "sitting on the license but not making anything" that is the issue not that "they are not capable of quality" thing.)
  18. One of the biggest beefs collectors had when roy was first reissued was that: "OH NO, NOW YAMATO HAS SCREWED OVER THE COLLECTOR. I DON'T WANT THEM TO REISSUE ROY BECAUSE NOW IT'S DEVALUED THE TOY!11" Because of this I'm glad that there are some valks that are hard to get for these guys, so that way they can't complain when normal paint schemes are reissued and they can justify the high price. It allows people who were new to collecting the valks to still be able to get the normal releases long after the early adopters have bought everything want, (no shortages of popular mecha) without complaints that yamato is screwing over the collector by reissuing things. But having just said that. Man I wish they made a fully tampo printed Roy with weathering.. But all the upcoming stuff is more then enough for me.
  19. Not so bad for the aussie. Our dollar makes it easier to buy from the american stores even with the shipping. Just hope yamato doesn't screw up on quality control and tries to get great first releases. No mistakes yamato or confidence in buying will fall. I'm hoping that when the yf-21 comes out that it's close to being flaw-free on first release. I think a "one of each type" is still doable since in macross plus there were no mass produced versions of those valks. (not as milkable as vf-1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ_qK4g6ntM
  20. http://ga.sbcr.jp/mreport/009339/ Anyone think the bike looks a bit shinier in these pics?
  21. Yeah but if it had loose joints it might fall and crush your feet!
  22. Well I recently received my SV-51 nora. No problems with it. Spent a long time reading the transformation instructions and taking my time. Feels solid in fighter mode and snaps together well in that mode. The wing hinges are very tight even with all the missile pods and boosters attached. Don't try any barrel rolls though. I love this design in both batroid and fighter mode.. I want a variable glaug now. Gerwalk mode looks a little funny. The idea of twisting the leg back to front for gerwalk is a cool idea. I think the reason I am drawn to this is that it looks unique from the un valks. It just looks evil, like it's a bird with claws, mixed with bat wings that flap around in battroid mode, and given goth-like spikes and a wizard's hat to taunt you. I wonder what a SV-51 would look like in a low vis scheme with weathering?
  23. So who could afford or have enough space for a 1/60 monster? I think I would have no place to display it. So I would end up just getting a 1/100 version of it like the konig monster. (but that lacked some details like the chest gun)
  24. 1. We addressed this issue already. We want to talk about toys for macross because we were sick of waiting. All those other series being good quality? GREAT! Enjoy them. But why not put that great amount of effort into the macross 7 license in the form of new VF-17? Hopefully now they will go back and update some of the stuff we saw in macross shows with better toys. If a fan can't get it from them, they will want it from someone else who is willing. Problem being if there is no other company able to touch it, you could be waiting 20 years with nothing. 2. OK, but why couldn't they remake the toys to be better to reflect the demand for high quality toys that don't shatter AND actually look close to a model? So you're saying you'd be happy they just sit on the license and reissue an old outdated toy instead of make a newer one? (couldn't they have remade better versions of the old 90s toys like 5 years ago?) You're right: "there is no logical reason to think that they can't do the same with macross" but so far there was no serious attempt (5-7 years ago) yet of them doing it. Nobody is doubting they can't, just that majority of us feel neglected that they didn't for so long! So that is why people hope they don't have the same half-assed atittude to the license like with mac7 where they only want to aim at a younger market. Please actually upgrade those toys (VF-17, Blazer valkyrie) rather than reissue old stuff. Make them as good as whatever they did for those other lines you just listed. If they don't, it would be a huge waste of potential, since as we established already pages ago, they must be held to an even HIGHER standard than yamato given their size and money and resources to be able to afford to have the license exclusive. Just as Electronic Arts has tied up all the popular movie rights for games and can get away with average quality gameplay since they are the only ones exclusively making the videogame so there is no other choice due to being the only game in town. Being exclusive holder of a license can sometimes mean less incentive to try as hard as when they are forced to compete with others who are trying to outdo them and threaten to take away some of their profit. It would be different if the license wasn't exclusive because it would mean a smaller company can at least compete with them but that's not going to happen which is why we are whining about lack of choice. They may be quite capable of doing a far better toy than anything yamato could ever do, but will they choose to based on past experiences with macross toys? What if they decide not to because they don't care as much about macross? It's not like you have any other choice since you'll only be able to get a vf-25 from them right? Did you ever consider that if others could compete (like with the Mospeada ride armor) it would make fans happier because now they have more options? There is some negatives to big companies having exclusivity on toys for a show in that what if they just SIT on it for ages with nothing for 15 years and the fanbase is left with nothing but reissues of old toys from the past instead of updated toys? Waiting for 2.5 decades for new toys and not getting anything is still worse than if a smaller company (with a flaw here or two) is able to make something during that time, right? The former option says: "no one can have anything until the big guy decides it's worth their time to redo. No guarantee it will ever be done in your life time though.." The latter option ensures the fans at least have something and not have to wait 2.5 decades. Having something (updated macross plus toys for example) is better than nothing for years. Oh and to stay on topic.... woah those pics of the thought bubbles are awesome!
