  1. The middle one with the "F" logo is pretty cool too. What I'd like is a baseball cap with that logo on it. I'm surprised there isn't one with the iconic Hikaru VF1-S with the word "Deculture!" written in large letters (blood-splatter font) which was the phrase that officially signaled the end of Space War I in DYRL when Bodolza got his head blown up by the race of "mini-me" humans. Now normal people wouldn't know what Deculture! means. So when they see the VF1-S you can explain it to them that this is the alien language and it means: "OH poo I'm about to get my brains-in-a-ship blown to pieces by this little robot" in english and then they'd go "Oh I didn't know this.". And then you can say to them "you are so uncultured. Everyone knows that is what the zentradi say when they are about to die. What are you, some dumb, uneducated, robotech fanboy?! Deculture!"
  2. Ah I see. Hopefully they do all three of the motoslaves. Maybe yamato might do the AD police mecha as well? (or are these like the destroids of the BGC line and due to not being popular will never ever get made?)
  3. If the CMs was just in a bigger scale.....maybe toynami should have went with that and modified it to be bigger and stuff? They already made their own "banpresto valks clone", so may as well do the same for the ride armor. I don't give a crap about it being part of some "masterpiece line". They should stop pretending the things they make are "worth 100000s of $ because they are oh so valuable and will grow in demand years from now because they are these rare gems that only rich people and diehard fanatics will ever bother to buy" when in fact most people will wait for the price to drop down and still not be happy with it but still want it due to desperation of there being nothing else to choose from on the market.
  4. Maybe they'll do to the akira live action what they did for 300 and make the backgrounds all cg? I think he-man will be better than this. Anyone got any news on the live action with cg he-man movie?
  5. Can you guys scan some lineart of it so I can save it to HD, thanks
  6. The advantage of smaller toys though is that you can "collect em all" like pokemon. Bigger toys will have better detail, but what are the chance these companies will take a risk on non-valk mecha? It's too risky if nobody buys it which is why I think they want to make smaller cheaper toys first. Profits from that can be used as their way to gauge interest into a more detailed toy. Glaug, regult, even monster can be easily collected at smaller scales without to much risk of them getting cancelled due to not enough people able to afford it or have enough space to display the bigger stuff. (maybe that's why the wave sdf-1 is so small?) Personally I want to see some valks from macross II for this reason. Stuff that you know won't get made into a risky large toy just because nobody likes the show it came from.
  7. Looks good. I love the chicken walking mecha. Maybe we'll see the destroids? Someone said they are unlikely to branch out to other macross mecha due to unpopularity compared to the VFs. Nice one! My request is for them to do the green, purple and red qrau.
  8. Good idea. I completely missed this thread because I lost interest in speculation threads. Then I remember BBC and then jumped back in. I'll be interested in this toy after I read some positive reviews. Oh and 2040AD < original BGC with the 80s hairdos. "We want you soldier girls! Soldier girls!"
  9. I'm happy with paying a high price but so long as it is good quality with very little flaws. If only they had made them a bit bigger.
  10. Good review. For the price paid they are a rip off, but so far fans of the mecha will probably like it still. Just as people bought 1/72 or 1/60 vf-1 toys that weren't perfect. (cracking of hips etc) Hopefully CMs reads it and does something about the cracking of windshields and other issues. (better stands, more heads, ability to have the gun seperate from the hand.)
  11. As a little kid growing up watching astro boy, voltron, speed racer, starblazers etc I knew watching robotech that this was based on a japanese anime for obvious reasons, but I didn't start wanting to know the real unbutchered story until about the time macross II came out. I had seen DYRL before this though, and loved it, but really had no intention of trying to gather up info on macross and the differences between it and RT until about the release of plus. From there I read about macross 7 (from games magazine that had coverage of anime) but never cared much to want to watch it. About the the year 2002 I then decided that I would start trying to track down dvds for rt for nostalgia and this got me into the quest for toys from the RT/macross universe which I searched for on RT.com. After that the rest is history as I was led here. (getting more info than I could ever need) I think HG needs to acknowledge that RT and macross are two different things now and (with the popularity of anime now) try to make an *"american anime" mecha show that really seperates itself from the macross universe as much as possible to avoid confusion. It's the only way forward since many don't necessarily think RT itself is a bad "version" of the story just not as good as what the originals were that it was based on. I didn't thnk SC was as bad as people made out, just pretty ordinary. As for future toys: please concentrate on the QC. Perhaps re-release the alphas as mospeada legioss MPC with new packaging and fix the problems. *cartoons that look like they are in the style of anime but aren't really
  12. I probably would have bought this if I didn't already buy the nora paintscheme.
  13. I wonder if they'll ever get around to doing the tv series one?
  14. Wow that's great. I never would have expected the 1/100 to have GBP. It will probably come out in the year 2020 though. Are the fast packs ever going to come out?
  15. Why does a robot even need a helmet anyway. Is he sensitive of his looks and doesn't want to get a scratch on his pretty face?
  16. Yeah but it shows the weakness of the bad guys: eventually when they get too old and can't find a worthy student good enough to kill the master, they will have to recruit powerful people from anywhere they can find them, including good guys. It was fated that darth vader would kill his master one day even without luke, just that anakin was too weak without his extra worms in his body to pull it off so he needed luke to help. His motivation to kill his master comes more from a need to gain power than helping luke. But the power of the incestuous relationship between vader and princess leia's mom is what made it possible. Love > Evil. The jedi nor the sith are allowed to love or have feelings. That's what the balance was. It's no deeper than that. (which is why PT focuses so much on the romance) I bet movie audiences respond better to emotional/dramatic scene than words/logic. The words won't make you cry, but a movie with a dramatic scene can. Knights are ignorant of people's personal feelings. Sith are power mad dictators. But the sensible balance is a person who breaks the rules when common sense says it's necessary to. It's why priests and religious leaders are criticised as being a bit out of touch with real people's problems by liberals because they never loved or married and experienced it first hand, so why go to them to solve the problems which they admit they have no easy answer for?
  17. Yeah I didn't like that. The head also was a bit big with the helmet on.
  18. I'm thinking that a lot of rumours and spreading of images might even be part of the viral marketing to generate buzz. Put something controversial in there to get people worried, talking, discussing and then the hype builds up and by the time the movie is out you generate all these expectations of what's in the movie and it turns out to be different? It could be that the crystal skull that is shaped to look like an alien was a modern fake planted there as disinfo, so that there would be no chase to find the real one, and that way they could keep the real one with powers hidden from others. When I saw the AI movie, I had no idea that the robots at the end of that movie weren't aliens. I just assumed aliens are digging for humans because they made them look like aliens and you don't think of robots 'evolving' on first view. But it's that playing with our minds thing that I was mentioning. We may only be seeing a tiny portion of what is in the whole movie so maybe best to hold off judgment till its out. But having said that, some people do put magic, supernatural powers, gods, in the same basket with aliens. So to me personally it wouldn't be much a problem. (no I'm not saying I'm cooler than you, just that its "fiction" so it can go down that path, just as vampire hunter d can meld a bit of sci-fi with horror, or army of darkness can put supernatural monsters from ancient times against modern technology - ie time travel being mainly sci-fi thing) Many people still like to call the diseased people in resident evil "zombies" even though they aren't the same "magic zombie" you associate with supernatural horror movies. More like a "science experiment gone wrong" disaster movie. That doesn't stop people from enjoying the story just because they were led to believe at the beginning that there are zombies in a haunted house on first early impression. (where they don't know any better and can't know until they've gotten far into the mystery to see the truth)
  19. When you think about it though, not showing darth vader kicking people's butts in ep III leaves a nice gap open for more shows/movies whatever post PT. More opportunity to milk that cash cow.
  20. Definitely interested in the BBC toy. (would like to see review of it when it comes out)
  21. If they are cheaper I'll probably cave and buy from toynami. I wish toynami spent all their effort on QC and didn't release any new toys till they got the alpha perfect in some rerelease. (call it "anime colour" MPC and use the bright happy colours of the aoshima versions but with no problems )
  22. Well I personally find the subject of alien-shaped skulls a fascinating subject because I've heard from friends aliens will be involved. So that's partly what made me come into the thread. I'm not trying to piss people off. Ok so the breaking of rules is bad for indy, but what if on its own merit the movie turns out good? Just not good for the indy franchise? Would you still watch it?
  23. Well to be fair to us this is an "anime or science fiction" section of a science fiction fan site. And it does have "alien skulls" in it. Maybe we just want to see the quality of the alien skull and comment on it? I just thought it was a bit unfair to dismiss the movie just because of an alien looking skull. What if it's just the skull of a ancient religious leader who had a deformed head and was super intelligent? (like exedor from macross?) So many possibilities. And even if it was aliens, it still fits into that supernatural/mysterious theme to some people. It doesn't mean indiana jones is necessarily going all science fiction on us if that is what people are scared of. (no guarantee it won't, but I'm just saying..) There may be other crystal skulls that are human-looking and you only saw a small portion of the whole thing. So it might be better to withhold judgment until you know more, that's all.
  24. But you can now have the armored gerwalk that you always wanted. I guess that is the advantage to skinny valks.
  25. Classics starscream is great for just being a new g1 starscream. Though I wished classic jetfire was just the vf-1 from G1 TF but updated. (ie arms between the legs style of transformation) It being a filler line doesn't mean it's automatically crap. I want to see more dinobots!
