Tytania. Coming October 2008!
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The naked girl from macross II needs to be in it. Or the red-headed girl in that gundam ova who test piloted a gundam. I think the girls are all related to minmay because they have similar features. -
1/6 scale Hot Toys Appleseed Figures
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Did Hot toys solve the problem of the rubber getting stuck to itself when you bend the arms too much and then then when you unbend them the sticky rubber rips off rubber from the other surface it was touching? Not that I could afford to buy these anytime soon thanks to all this macross stuff that is coming.. -
Manned vs. Unmanned fighters
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Macross Forever's topic in Movies and TV Series
Also I'd like to add that in gundam wing that had those mobile DOLLS. Those things were like the ghost X-9 in that by having them unmanned they could do all kinds of things the manned robots couldn't do. But then could dolls actually work well in a confined space on earth? When you go to a place you have some awareness of where you've been and where you are going. And you remember that place, understand where the best spot is to go, and pick up certain feel about it that you might not pick up through remote control. How does it smell? What about the temperature and climate? People and faces you recognise from meeting them face to face, and food that you tasted from being there for a time? All this 'junk' information may not be relevent to a machine but is enough to you to differentiate one place from another in your mind to be something to think about. You might find the mud is softer in one spot or notice something strange about the place that changed the last time you were there. Look underneath objects and notice they were tampered with. You might not have the abilty to do thing with a remote controlled doll you could do as a pilot like look under a car for a bomb or notice small details on the floor from a giant robotic perspective. And those thing might clue you in to something about the enemy that warns you. "ok someone was looking for me here and maybe I've been followed?" or something. "The food on the table is all warm as if someone was here just now" Just small things that would be irrelevent to robots. Robots are great in open space, but again like the droids in star wars they may be ignorant of the environment around them or not pick up certain obvious things a human could due to how they interpret information. Not so much paranoid but also is it eithical to make something self-aware and then pull the plug on it like it has no rights of its own just because it inconvenient to you? This is something similar to people who can't take care of pets and they dump them. Maybe the AI gets angry and resents humans for poor treatment and then turns against you out of anger? And like the mad scientist who creating a monster in lab, there is a sense that it might not ever get acceptance in society so it would be cruel to expose it to harsh life? The whole "misunderstood monster" thing where humans treat it cruelly just because of its looks? But back to the first thing: why is it paranoid to think that robot or intelligent AI would react like that, and not paranoid to think it for a human who was treated badly? If it is truly sentient, maybe it's a defense mechanism to survive? Animals like birds can attack you if you go near their nest, out of fear you will endanger their young. Is it paranoid to stay away from some of the more dangerous animals who will not hesitate to attack if you go near them during time where they are in defense mode? Defenses are not limited to thoughts either: some things like plants have thorns on them, porcupines have spikes, crocodiles use water to hide in order to surprise their food increasing chance of getting a meal. Robots might not think that what they are doing is even "evil" or "wrong", just a logical solution to continue on without believing there is anything humans should worry about them in how they go about attacking. But humans themselves will interpret certain behavior wrong and it's not due to paranoia but genuine danger that the robot doesn't understand why its lack of understanding is dangerous for some things. -
Manned vs. Unmanned fighters
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Macross Forever's topic in Movies and TV Series
The whole point of people is that pilots have morals where ghosts don't. Like lets say there is a en enemy that uses humans as shields and the ghost fires on the enemies and kills the enemy as well as the human to accomplish the mission. IT's like the character Stick in mospeada: all he cares about is duty duty duty. When you are on a mission with sensitive obstacles that requires care and planning and a bit more thought, you don't want that task to be automatic in the hands of an AI. AI was smart, the speed they can think is fast, but that's like saying that nukes are also good ways to win wars. Why don't we have a nuke war right this second? Well might it have to do with the idea that it might not have the type of control you want? Like in business you don't want to get a bad reputation or customers will not support you because it is seen as too dangerous or risky and something might go wrong. Look at it this way dogs are faster than humans, but can dogs switch weapons or hold their fire (hold their bite?) depending on the situation? Or do they only do what they were trained to do and follow simple commands? Dogs may have the appearance of being smart but that is only because of the repetitive training. Like when you train a parrot to repeat a phrase. The parrot or dog doesn't understand WHY it is following the order and under what circumstances that it might be wise to call off an attack. Even if a ghost was a better and faster and more accurate combatant, humans adapt to AI by thinking out of the box where ghosts can't. The reason why sharon apple was different is partly due to having taken Myung personality and copying it in such a way that it believed it was becoming myung. But it is a poor imitation. Like a 5 year old child mimmicking what it's adult mother or father is doing and not understanding the behavior. This is how I see AI: it may appear intelligent on the surface, but it doesn't comprehend its own actions and think about i's own actions, just imitates what humans are like not being human enough to have its own personality and original ideas and plans like real people do. Where do thoughts come from? Could they be from some other source? Like another plane of existence? From god? From a guiding spirit that some new age spiritual guru summons using some combination of drugs and meditation? This is what seperates the main characters in stars wars (Jedi) over the normal troopers. (droids in prequel trilogy, storm troopers in Original trilogy) The jedi are like the newtypes who can predict the feelings of the people and that sensitivity (to understand in depth) is what gives them the edge over their opponent in battle which is the difference between life and death. Because they can predict behavior and react to it early through understanding that allows them to beat the robots, and the mind controlled storm troopers/clone soldiers. There are some skills where you can't really train someone in it, but they learn it through experience. I think drones are the equivalent of sending in attack dogs which may have good basic skills, but not experience to react intelligently like a human might be able to. (understanding the enemy you fighting, what the tactics are, the limits the enemy will go to kill you vs running, how they are adapting to your own tactics etc... all the stuff you learn and 'feel' which might be gained from exposure to the enemy for long time and not from reading "stats") It's like the scene in episode 2 of star wars where the mercenary guy is commenting on the difference between intelligence and wisdom. Humans looking into a database where a record is deleted don't just assume a given place "doesn't exist" where a robot will. Humans have the instinctive wisdom (gained from experience) to think that perhaps the record did, but someone is covering or hiding something from the public. It's just a gut instinct. Now robots aren't all dumb but they do rely on data fed to them. If you can hack a system you can make anything "disapear" and fool the robot or the AI easily. That doesn't mean that if you can't find something in search engine, that you can just trust the computer when it says "something never existed". You might have good reason to believe or suspect something tampered with that a AI/drone/robot would never question. This is what is meant by wisdom vs intelligence. In "ghost in the shell" there is a reason why the cyborgs have that human guy on their team. They need a set of eyes seperate from their own to analyse a situation that they might not be good at analysing. So they keep a human around to ensure they have all bases covered. Even though the majority of sci fi likes to fantasise about the benefits of technology there is also a dark side to it: that once you become too reliant on it, it takes control of you and makes you weaker. Same idea in the game "metal gear solid": the cyborg ninja guy doesn't like to kill people with guns because it requires no effort and you have to fight him without one. This to him must seem boring like winning a war with a nuke doesn't require any skill. Doesn't mean just because you CAN use something, and the tech is there to use it, that it's a good reason TO go and use it. IF this guy enjoys the combat, maybe he doesn't care about winning easily if he can beat you 'skillfully'. Like how you don't just use the main gun in macross to shoot things where less destructive weapons will suffice. Ghosts require no skill, they are limited in how they think (do no understand the environment around them or come up with original ideas of their own) and also dangerous to society due to hacking. Now the problem is you are only thinking in terms of what it can do in combat but not other reasons like what if the enemy can turn the ghost against you? What's the counter weapon to the ghost? For every weapon there are weaknesses and dangers to each one. So although you could blow up an entire planet using the SDF-1 main gun, is this going to accomplish a mission where you might only want to kill a certain target of importance and not upset people that are good who happen to also be on the planet and don't want you to kill them? The ghosts are like those attack dogs. Enemies can use the ghost's own lack of understanding of a situation and turn it against you. Just as yang hacked into sharon apple to manipulate the holographic image with a lot of determination. On the surface, sharon displayed a bit of intelligence but she stole things from myung to create its image. That's not the same as understanding that person. Sharon wasn't there 7 years ago to know what really happened. But the AI is piecing together a bunch of random emotions and data assuming that's all there is to it. That's not to say it didn't have some truth to it: that it knew what myung liked. However, it couldn't say it's own personality was original! Because it was just stealing bits and pieces of someone and saying it is unique. But that's more like 'manufactured' by taking off-the-shelf parts of something and assembling something. Not creating. I think perhaps robots and ai might be good chess players, because they can look at all the possible moves to make and decide which is the best one, but in the real world there are factors outside the 'rules of a rigid game' that must be taken into account too, such as the idea that enemies actually adapt to predictable behavior in realtime. Ghosts like the zentradi, don't "think for themselves" but must read information fed to them and interpret it the best they can without "understanding" it; only using that info to pick a branch from a tree to follow pre-set batch of commands by the people who conditioned its behavior like a dog which seems to "know" what to do based on how the owner gave its orders. That was the thing that held sharon back in that logic alone isnt' enough. Because if it was, it would already know that is was in fact doing something crazy and extreme in its own behavior, and not really demonstrating what true love is. (through almost killing people and hynpnotising them to be happy in a trance like state and manipulate emotions to aritificially love them) But it acted in a innocent child-like manner because it lacked the experience to understand what it was doing was not correct, that it was not how humans show compassion and love for each other. -
The thing about tekkaman is how he already has a high speed flight mode. So maybe in about 500 years time, the Ex-Gear will evolve to become the super powered armor. They will scrap micromissiles, (waste of materials, remember how strict they are about recycling on these long voyages through space?) ban the use of guns (it risks destroying the insides of colony ships - remember that scene in macross 7 when that retired monster driver fires a shot and destroys a chunk of building?), and just say: "here's $5000 Blade. Now you go kill this nest and grab some dead aliens bodies so we can sell the crystals and use the money to build a fold bridge made out of bug crystal materials and have bugs which we can convert into cyborg versions of the bug that are under the control of an AI cmputer to fold all our precious supplies to the colony worlds quickly and dominate the galaxy." Blade could have anything he wants. Doesn't have to fight for the military. Just only agree to kill bugs that are dangerous to civilians and to protect people when they are in danger. Eventually he can donate the money to charity or do something good like breed the bugs and tame them sort of like basara did to the space whale in macross ova. They could use the fold ability of the bugs like how man uses horses to get around. You could have space cowboys riding bugs and folding from place to place by whipping them on the back to make them fold faster. And have supplies tied to the bugs' backs to deliver goods. Bugs just need to be tamed using the music and mechanically controlling their fold ability that's all. haha this is a joke post of course.

I've always wanted to see what technoman (tekkaman) could do against the Vajra. I hope there are specs on the red bug armor plating so I can have tekkaman use his beam attack on it. He has all those close combat weapons to deal with bugs. Macross Frontier has made me start watching that anime right now hehe. Ever since they had Blade make a cameo appearance in macross II, I've wondered what he'd be like in macross frontier due to the whole monsters in space theme it has going. Could a single tekkaman solve all the nun spacy problem? If they just spent all their money on a single powered suit they could forget the useless gunpod, the dagger, the pinpoint barrier, the full barrier, the sniper weapon.... just go with a spear and a super armor which becomes a weapon when you fly at high speed into the enemy to pierce holes into its body. The red bug were fast, but tekkaman is small and harder to hit than a valk. I think a red bug might have problems fighting something so compact yet so powerful and hard to kill. (kinda like when astroboy is able to beat up the other super robots by flying inside them and killing them from the inside out by him using his small size to his advantage?) Only thing is the bugs have the "fold at will" ability. Tekkaman had the 30 minute time limit (so each episode was in real time like watching "24"?) and that might mean you would have to have backup valkyries for when tekkaman couldn't fight anymore. tekkaman = ancient protoculture elite monster hunter. The "predator" to macross frontier's red bug (Xenomorph) from "aliens"?

Just finished watching lunar subs of ep20. Haven't been able to keep up with all the discussion but yeah I agree that the mikail died pretty well. Especially when you consider how people thought he would be the unkillable max jenius of this show in the early eps just because of the damn colours. The kid with the pikachu face I bet is the real max jenius since he is smart and nobody expects him to be good. I bet his hacking ability is going to counter act the evil cyborg girl's hacking and they enter a matrix like videogame environment to fight each other in cyberspace sorta like max and miriya in the holographic arcade game in SDF:M. Pikachu will show the fans he is superior even to alto and ozuma and he won't tolerate being teased as a little kid anymore. As for the love triangle: I think ranka will end up getting alto while sheryl will re-awaken her singing powers and show the world her singing is still powerful like minmay post-depression, and so she continues to sing for herself and inspire future generations of pop princesses to sing like she did with ranka. Ranka then later decides she likes the guy in the vf-27 better and dumps Alto. Alto then decides flying wasn't in him and that he prefers destroids now. Shooting is more fun and you can express yourself better with guns and missiles. There is an art to destroying things with ground weapons that he likes more. He is like an anti-basara and wants to inspire people to "shoot, shoot! shoot, shoot! my girlfriend is a singer now..." Ozuma is pissed off and accuses alto of running away from his true destiny of flying valkyries which is what he was supposed to be his calling in life! This is similar to the guld and dyson fight in macross plus, and you see alto shooting down ozuma in an armored valkyrie. But alto is using a transforming destroid that uses EX-gear to control it and a full barrier system for countering the missile swarms from the faster valkyries. Ozuma must use his pinpoint barrier knife to cut through the AT field..er.. I mean full barrier to beat alto at close range with a knife stab.

Well here is the thing with robot mode: I love that it can use the rail cannons like the sdf-1 can use the main gun in robot mode or the strike valk can use the strike cannon in robot mode. (ie swing forwards) But the yamato doesn't allow it to do that like in that Macross VFX game picture. Maybe bandai can make a superior koenig monster at 1/100 to challenge yamato? I wasn't 100% happy with the yamato. Would probably end up selling it if there was a better toy of the monster. (but I DO prefer the markings of the old un spacy kite symbol and the bold ANIME EYEBALL since it remind me of the old school monster from SDF:M. ) I have only watched up till ep 19 of macross frontier so far. And the poor robot mode gets no love! Maybe if Kawamori gives us our Destroid OVA that we were all wishing for for years! Robot mode would be used for close combat like the destroid spartan was used in SDF:M for defence of the long range destroids. A tall and heavily armored robot would be perfect bodyguard destroid! If they modded the koenig monster with a pin point barrier it would offer even more defense against heavier mecha. Not to mention the increased energy conversion armor thing that is supposed to offer more protection in robot mode that people speculate makes the bot mode more robust than the fighter or gerwalk modes. That transforming Koenig Monster made from lego looked so cool. Bandai should base the toy on that if they plan on making one.. pic of the transforming lego koenig monster: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=24641 And unlike the yamato toy, it still has the little gun on the chest! "I was jealous of Omega Supreme from transformers so I decided to turn into a robot one day" It's been about half a decade since the 1/100 monster. I wouldn't mind seeing them do v2 Monster. If not yamato, (who are already doing the smaller destroids at 1/60) then bandai should do it imo.
-
Totally agree with that. Ebay buyers should watch out though since nothing is going to stop a guy from just chucking an old version in a new box. Well we've all been screaming for yamato to put some kind of factory seal on boxes as a way to discourage that kind of thing but nobody listens.... Just like with the pressure to give us the side parts for 1/60 VF-1 as standard...... Maybe when v3 comes out. lol But they have reacted to some stuff: -smaller boxes, -more tampo printing instead of stickers -hands that are manly and beefy -better QC so it's not all bad.
-
I wonder how much yamato would charge for 1/60 vb6? Possibly out of the price range of most people. And I don't think yamato has mastered the art of making good joints that well to be able to make it not flop around.

*bump* just watched all the way up to 19. Will catch up to the rest of you guys later. But yeah I like the pacing of this. Who would have thought that little pet thing was about to transform into a monster. The idea of humans vs humans is a good one. It's starting to feel like a gundam show now where there is a bit of politics involved in events and the invisible hand is revealed as an octopus with its tentacles in everything slowly manipulating the key people towards some bigger plan.. The show succeeds in making it's unique mark on the universe instead of being a clone of old macross shows. Does anyone here get reminded of the fear of the "cat being infected by a chest burster" in "alien" when they realised the green pet was a vajra? That's the first thing that came to mind. Of course in Alien the cat wasn't a host for a chest burster but that's what the movie made me think because of the way they focus on the cat being scared of something. Another thing is when Ranka grabs her stomach whenever an alien is destroyed hints that maybe she is a 'PC humanoid-shaped queen' and is about to give birth to new species of evolved vajra that resist the weapons. It reminds me of the theme in technoman where Blade might turn into a monster and go against the humans. Her emotions and singing combined with the fold crystals reminds me of the power crystal in technoman! I keep thinking that maybe she is going to turn into a super robot or something and using the power of the Fold Crystal she can command the vajra monsters like the kid in pokemon and command the pocket monsters to fight. hehe. Before you laugh look at how Sara was able to command that flower monster in macross zero. Nature vs technology! All that has to happen is for ranka to get angry and traumatised when she gets her memory back from the events that stunned her back as a child, for her to sending negative emotions to the monsters and then we have a thing similar to the end of macross zero and macross 7 again. (monsters vs humans) The artificial cyborgs are probably jealous of the bio-mecha power. It's sort of like if Ironman (manufactured weapons) got into a fight with the characters in Technoman who were naturally born as powerful warrior living weapons. I think of the monsters are like eco-terrorists created by the PC a long time ago to take over other planets cheaply VS the "self-aware evolved AI" humans who want to control natures' resources for profit. Humans and AI are making the same mistake as the PC. So it's like the theme in macross zero of man using nature's power to be like a god, (one of the VF is named messiah) which leads to the cataclysmic end (destruction) which caused the fall of atlantis/protoculture as the power got way out of control and the weapons backfired on them. Anti-UN were the bad guy in Zero because they bombed the forest! So these new bad guys might be the New Anti-UN who have infiltrated UNG as a way to misuse the weapons to cause all kinds of disasters to stop the UN from having control over everything. (ie they are competing for power) Meanwhile the NUN are ignorant of them as a real threat, and that's why they (New Anti-UN) were allowed to get as far as they have: the noobs at NUN are too dumb! Every disaster and call for help is staged to lure them into a trap which allows them to get destroyed by the bugs with superior weapons. Why bother fighting the NUN when you can just cause destruction using the experimental biomecha monsters abandoned by the ancient PC and with the help of the rogue zentradi who mindlessly live for wars anyway? Then from the chaos of the NUN destruction (lead monsters to attack NUN so they can't expand to so far) they can control the monsters using the queen (Ranka)to tame them when they need to control the monsters so that the monster don't turn on the New anti-UN. -Birla gets to profit! (war means business) -Anti-UN gets to gain more power! (they got beaten down too many times so its revenge) -NUN must increasingly rely on SMS who will eventually side with the government who pays the most money. (at the start Ozuma mentions how money is all that matters - he directly benefits from the wars which the Anti-UN can create to give him a "sense of purpose" which is to protect things. Just like Guld feeling like he is this great noble knight protecting myung from dyson when myung can be strong by herself through trials and error which toughen you up by constant trying and trying again and again. (Dyson's reckless way of doing things) Now I see parallells between Dyson's recklessness to teach myung that it's ok to try something and fail (which allows you to learn from the experience and 'grow') and Alto's recklessness to do what you like because you like it and it give happiness. And a parallel between Guld's "you do this because it is your solemn duty - protecting myung gives me a sense of purpose because I am a zentradi warrior" and Ozuma "I need to protect people, and using the weapons is survival". It doesn't really rip off the originals, but the idea is the same thing. Alto is the focus because he didn't join the SMS willingly to protect things at first. It was more that he wanted to fly and this was a means to an end. He could be a reckless fool like dyson and have 'freedom' and it is a selfish emotion because he is doing it for pleasure. Ozuma on the other hand, likes the idea of being a knight and this pleases him because it gives him a 'sense of purpose'. Maybe he couldn't get access to the best toys at NUN military so he decided experimental craft gave him the best way to save lives to show he is in control at SMS. He can be "DA MAN" and prove to himself that he can protect things sucessfully. Like guld commenting that dyson is out of control all the time and focusing on the idea that he has the power to control his fate while reckless people aren't in control so it's sort of pitiful to act reckless. But the reckless behavior leads to making you stronger in the long run since you can experiment, know what something feels like, and grow. Even if it costs you respect for failing, costs you money, it's at the heart of exploration and finding new things, new undiscovered civilisations and treasures. If you don't go on an adventure or journey because it is too reckless and dangerous, you won't gain experience and learn. Alto wants to leave his home to pursue that freedom and Ozuma wants to act as protector babying people to make himself feel good. Monsters: The vibe I get is that the monsters are neutral but if provoked will attack. They are just being used by new anti-un to create as much death on the NUN side to "balance the power a bit more for Birla" who can only profit from it all by creating more reliance on his business amongst all the competing sides in wars. But this need to control and expand (both business wise and "government power" wise) ends up with all sides risking killing each other off. (big daddy boss monster awakens from all the chaos and attacks everything out of anger because the children aren't behaving! ) *lets just say that the zentradi were not nice guys, they destroy planets, and these are just more deadly bioweapons for the pc which cost less to provide for

Or maybe we could have a "news" thread and a "discussion of pics" thread. The "News" thread is stickied and contains all the pics just like news in the main part of the macross world site. "Discussion" can contain those pics, comments on the pics, complaints about the sculpts accuracy, complaints about complaints, your opinions on whether its worth buying etc etc speculation. The news thread can then be for all those noobs who come to the boards who don't hang on the boards regularly enough to have read the 50000000000000000 billion other posts talking about it, and instead can just go direct to the news thread for info. I would like that because every time the threads get booted you automatically think something *new is being revealed. Would save the mods time too. The can let the discussion thread be just comments referring to the news thread. While the news is left locked and edited once in a while. *If something is genuinely new and hasn't been included in the news thread then the poster can freely submit the pic to the discussion thread, and then the mod adds it to the news thread. By being a sticky it is easy for the non-regular members to see. Search engine on here isn't all that perfect. Often a thread might sink after about a week or two and the non-regular member will make a new topic heh..

Wolverine & Iron Man anime coming

Will Spiderman have a robot like the live action one?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_XUpZp7mi4 -
He kinda looks like he is hungry to eat it.

Post a pic so we know which bit you are talking about. I had a look at that part, but there is no hole for the pin inside to escape from. Are you talking about the nose hinge which can flop down like a limp penis in the fighter mode when you push it down? Because if that is true, how on earth did it come out when there is no visible hole for it to be taken out?
-
Those who own both V1 and V2 might like to do a comparison pic of the two standing together so this guy doesn't get ripped off and end up buying the wrong thing. heh
-
Here's pics of the old version 1 1/60 Yamato vf-1s: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMTMC-06 and ..the new version 2 1/60 VF-1S (with strike and super parts): http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00078 Scroll your mouse over the little thumbnails to the side to see them blown up to look at them in bigger detail. Don't buy the old one!
-
Ok here's the thing: "v1" 1/60 have to have their legs detach in order to transform them to battroid mode. These new 1/60 (called version 2) are perfect transformation toys meaning you can just transform them without pulling off the limbs or removing something and swapping with something else. So basically look for the word "perfect transformation" as an indication of whether it is the "v2". The version 1 has a "needle nose" in fighter mode, a squashed up shrunken head in battroid mode, looks uglier, is much older, worse poseability and ...er just generally sucks. Look at the pics of it in the 1/60 VF-1 toys section I linked to. Then look at the pics in the graham's review of the V2 I linked to after that. You'll find big differences between the older 1/60 and the newer 1/60.
-
So has anyone else had this problem? Mine seems fine. I have left it on its stand in fighter mode for ages. I can't think of anything. The magnets must be pulling the pin out. Magneto must be playing practical jokes on you. Do you hang out with radioactive mutants much? How can it just come out?
-
http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/V...-1S_review.html ^ That should link to the review of v2 1/60 Roy with FAST Pack. Lots of pics for you to look at. REMINDER TO GRAHAM: update the toy page You can't even see the link to the new v2 1/60 review from the toy section.

For opinions try this: http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewt...p;sk=t&sd=a This is from a transformers forum. Personally I would start with the V2 Yamato releases because of the articulation in robot mode.. But if you like larger sizes at least have a look at the 1/48 side by side with the new 1/60 vf-1S to determine which is for you. Because there are a lot of people willing to sell them cheaply now. The reason I would go for 1/60 v2 as I've mentioned is that this is a matching scale with many other upcoming toys and the smaller size makes it more easier to collect I guess. It has comparable detail to the 1/48 but is cheaper and the shipping will cost you less. But do transform it carefully. The shoulder design seems a little more scary than on the 1/48 when posing the arms. But as mentioned in the review you can do barrel rolls with this toy unlike the heavier 1/48 which feels dangerous to attempt to handle due to the weight and stress the FAST packs will have on the hinge.

Graham's toy review section: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_toys_yamato.htm Might be handy if you like to see what you are buying before you make a decision. lol Graham needs to update that section to include 1/60 (version 2) SDFM and Macross DYRL toys. Try also youtube and subscribe to Collection DX reviews. Then look for some of the macross stuff they've reviewed for more info. It might help you to better judge the toy against other toys on the market. (not just yamato macross ones) without having to sift through pages and pages of text and still images on boards.

It all really depends where you are located as yamato have big boxes. So you want to get it from a seller close to you and shave down some of the shipping costs. There is a forum dealing in where to buy somewhere at this place which I hardly ever look at. under "sell trade and buy macross" http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=32 The ones I shop at: toywave. ebay. hobbylink japan very occasionally from dealers here. Two scale of yamatos floating around out there: 1/48 vf-1 1/60 vf-1 The recent 1/60 was roy VF-1S with FP. 1/48 is older and larger release. I would just get 1/60 which is cheaper, more poseable, and looks best in battroid mode as your first valk. But if you can find the 1/48 for a bargain price that;d be good to get now too.
