  2. Still waiting on my Super Ostrich re-release.
  3. Nine year old me LOVED Cyborg. I wanted those boots with the retractable knife blade.
  4. Is that missile pack totally useless in fighter mode? Or does it fold out somehow?
  5. Crud, are you telling me that when the we get a favorable exchange rate, the yen price will just go up? Unfair!
  6. I agree with everything you say about it and will be trying to get that fansub; thanks for the heads up on that. I've only seen it raw so far. For some reason I categorize this anime with Birth and Redline. They all involve a lot of chasing/racing scenes, all have distinct animation styles, and all have anti-climactic, weird endings. Birth had somewhat simple designs but ridiculously fluid animation with "moving camera" effects. Both California Crisis and Redline have that high contrast look you mentioned -- one of the first things I noticed when watching Redline.
  7. So no news regarding Prowl, Bluestreak, or Smokescreen?
  8. I think Robotech created an entire generation of anime fans, more so than anything else prior. Then Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Dragon Ball Z came and created even more anime fans than Robotech. But what nobody ever mentions is the huge difference in the type of people attracted to Robotech (or StarBlazers) and the type of people attracted to Sailor Moon, Pokemon or DragonBall Z. Robotech fans were impressed by the sophisticated story and characters, the beautiful animation (if you don't count the Anime Friend episodes), and/or the science-fiction aspects like space ships and mecha -- much like the Star Blazers fans before them. Sailor Moon, Pokemon and DragonBall Z aren't space or mecha shows. They're also shonen/shoujo -- shows for young kids. While the original Japanese versions weren't as stupid as the dumbed-down US versions, they still didn't feature the kind of sophisticated character growth and interactions as Macross or Yamato. You can argue that Macross was made for kids too, but it wasn't made for young kids like Pokemon was. Macross was smart enough to be enjoyed by adults who wouldn't normally watch cartoons, and I don't think you can say that about DBZ or Pokemon. Animation and art wise, you can argue the merits of each, but neither Sailor Moon, Pokemon, or DBZ had Haruhiko Mikimoto character designs. Now I love Akira Toriyama, and Kazuko Tadano is pretty good too, but Mikimoto is the greatest character designer of all time. Also, only Macross had Itano-choreographed fight animation. Who did the animation direction for DBZ? Don't know? Exactly. To be fair Macross had some horribly animated episodes but it also had DYRL. So what's my point? The generation of anime fans created by Sailor Moon, Pokemon and DragonBall Z aren't looking for science fiction, and they aren't looking for anything incredibly sophisticated, and they aren't even looking for amazing artwork. I don't understand this kind of fan and feel like I have nothing in common with them, personally.
  9. Thanks, ordered mine.
  10. That would look great with the Skull Squadron insignia.
  11. I'ma hafta get me one dems.
  12. I think they need a reboot with Bryan Cranston as Hawk. I thought he would make an awesome Hawk ever since Malcom in the Middle.
  13. Are these bad enough? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhhYOMRO2Vc
  14. I think Shirow's art was better back in the Appleseed/Dominion Tank Police days.
  15. Roxette has many great songs. Steve Winwood's Valerie is an amazing song. You wanna talk about guilty pleasures: my favorite band growing up was Erasure.
  16. This will be mine!
  17. What's the one furthest left? It looks cool.
  18. I don't have a Hikaru 1S so I will be snagging it for sure! I think the hatch under the nose where the hips attach in battroid was updated for easier transformation. Man...seriously considering double-dipping on the Roy 1S for that...
  19. If Megahouse and CMs are still in business then maybe Arcadia would be okay. Did Beagle even exist as a toy company other than making the Ride Armors?
  20. Ohhhh.
  21. Wait, so they bastardized Love Live Alive too? They didn't just release it untouched? If they called it Robotech Love Live Alive, then I guess that actually makes a lot of sense.
  22. Wow. I wish the new GI Joe line looked this good. Instead of sucking utterly.
  23. I know, fighter jets flying in space? That's like the dumbest thing ever.
