Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
Scyla replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the Yamato VF-17 mold but my collection seemed incomplete without one. Now I can have one in Fighter- and one in Battroid-Mode which is all I need. I actually prefer the Bandai VF-171 even if it has its issues. It just locks together in Fighter-Mode so much better. -

Uhh, I might be tempted by the 1/60 version. Maybe for my DYRL? VF-1S Hikaru Custom?

I don't know if it is that simple. For companies there is always cashflow and the money we sent to NY might not be used for paying the Bandai preorders. They might be used to pay much more eminent bills while other customers provide the cash to pay for the VF-31A bill and so on. If a company is in financial trouble they might use the every cent they can gather to pay the bill that is most eminent to them and hope they make it over the hump to keep going.

This thought crossed my mind as well. And this might be the reason why we haven't seen mass refunds yet.

I recently thought about the limited numbers of items available for the popular Bandai items. I came up with the following theory: if they produce a given item as batches rather than individual items (because they can only assign so much factory time or one set of molds only lasts for that many units) you cannot adapt to market demands that flexible. Assuming one batch of the VF-31F is 1000 units. If there is demand for 1200 items but the next bigger batch would be 2000 items it might make sense financially for Bandai to only produce one batch instead of two since otherwise they would sit on dead stock. Of course this would hit us as foreigners the hardest because we are the 200 people for whom Bandai cannot produce items. It would also make sense for Bandai to allot more stock to domestic brick and mortar stores since they are more important for the Business of Bandai Japan. Now I assume that the TWE items have a more limited run than normal releases due to less popularity, niche releases, etc. Let's say Bandai planned a production run of up to 500 units for the VF-31A. Since factory time is alloted ahead of time they can't change that number if a surge in popularity appears closer to the cut-off date. If in this scenario NY and other retailers just kept the orders open too long and Bandai cannot manufacture more units in this batch a shortage is the consequence. I think both parties are to blame for he shortage. Bandai because they didn't set a sensible cut-off date for orders and NY keeping their preorders open too long. Maybe someone on the board has experience with manufacturing and could tell me if there is some merit to this theory or not.

Well they can just sell them through YAJ via a proxy account. The question would be why now and not with other hot items like the Renewal Frontier Valkyries.

Thanks for the work you put into compiling these lists. It would be interesting to get a quote on when those people preordered their VF-31A. It also makes me wonder to what percentage the MW boards cover the Macross toy collectors that have ordered from NY.

I payed for my VF-31A preoder on the 6th of October 2017 which seems pretty early for me. Thing is that was 178 days ago so maybe filing a PayPal claim the next few days might be a good idea... No matter what the outcome is I think I will order my TWE items from a new store the next time. Since the pay later option is gone from NY for those items I don't see any benefits from staying with NY. The only thing that kept me shopping was that sometimes their items snuk through customs but what good is it if I can't get the item at all.

So recently I came across the concept of playing ROMs from an SD card on an original console. I'm probably the last person on earth that learned about that but I tried to do some research and I'm unsure what to think about it. I came across an article that warned about using one of those "Everdrive" cartridges since they can damage the gaming systems due to a higher voltage needed to read from the SD card (thats what I understood about it). Has anyone some experience about the Everdrive cartridges and what is a good cartridge to buy (I'm looking for a PAL cartridge)? I found a few shops selling those but most were out of stock. Are the SD2SNES cartridges any good?

I never bought a Marvel Legends figure since they are not up my alley in general. However I want to buy the Psylocke figure. Is there a date for when the figure will go up for preorder and how hard will it be to acquire in an online store? I'm unable to buy them in a brick and mortar store so I need to order it online.

I WANT MY MECHA CRACK, COME ON NY!!! *breaks out in tears* On the other hand, if NY doesn't come true I might put the funds towards the GFFMC Wing Zero Custom. Maybe I have a small problem.

I think the first half of Delta was excellent. The later half never reached the hight points of the first one but it was still enjoyable. I would also rate Delta higher than Macross 2.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Scyla replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yes, dream on, cause it will never happen. I had a mini rant today over at TFW about how disappointed I am that Japanese toy manufacturers are seldomly release a full line of characters. That is one reason why I never bought into the SHF Star Wars line because I knew they will never be complete. Luckily I usually don't know enough about the Metal Build Gundams I have to be concerned by that. Sadly I felt obligated to watch Gundam 00 after I had all the MB releases so far and now I really want a Metal Build Dynames.- 6025 replies

As long as I get my VF-31A from NY I can deal with shipping delays. On the other hand alls this talk about shops not shipping out their items and after market prices skyrocketing makes me paranoid and that I might not get what I ordered.

@MacrossMania I never understood MISB or AFA collectors and one of my collection goals had always been to get an AFA graded G1 Dreadwind and Darkwing and release them from their prisons. But something in your description of why you do it really spoke to me. Thank you for that. I bought a Yamato VF-19F and VF-17D to flush out my M7 collection. They will be opened and played with though. -

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
Scyla replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think one Hasbro designer mentioned during NYCC that the Studio Series is intended to scale to each other in robot mode. So Blackout and Grimlock are exactly as tall as they ought to be compared to the hight of Studio Series Bumblebee (in bot mode).- 17164 replies

I don't want to get into an argument what is canonically correct (especially since this is a YF-29 and not a YF-19 :P). I'm just saying that the light tan color looks better with a matte finish.
