  1. Maybe a 3rd party company will release a toy that looks just like that and they gonna name him Jazz. 🥷
  2. Since I only built modern Lego sets in the last couple of years the instructions of these old sets are a different beast. They are super thin, don’t show what pieces you need and there is no steps where only one brick is placed. And they have product shots in the middle of them. If they weren’t there they would be even thinner.
  3. I decided to complete my „classics“ Lego Space collection (Futuron - Explorians). Started with a set that I had as a kid but got lost somehow. First time buying used Lego. The bricks fit right into my own childhood ones in terms of quality. No missing or broken pieces and no yellowing. However I need to clean them after I disassemble the set again. Bought also 6956 from the same seller.
  4. Windwaker is my favorite Zelda game. It has some issues, especially after you pick up the Master Sword but I would totally pick that up on the Switch. I still have my GameCube and the disk and the cell shaded look gives it a timeless look but it would be nice having a cleaned up version to play.
  5. Thank you for the review Mike. I’m fairly content with Seaspray 1.0. Maybe I would upgrade if 2.0 goes on deep clearance, but I doubt it.
  6. My Kuro Kara Kuri Victory Leo arrived today. Took it out of the box, attached all the „stuff“ and took a quick picture. This thing is insanely pointy. I think I need to buy new cotton gloves. Interestingly he has ratchets in his knees which is a first for the line. I couldn’t test articulation yet but because the joints are tight and he is meant to come apart I‘m worried that I might rub off some of the paint, especially with all the extra bits attached. Because he is the worlds most expensive Barbie dress he doesn’t have the cool engineering that the other figures in the line have to facilitate the articulation. The wings and the main guns have some moving and spring loaded pieces but nothing as cool as Drifts knees for example. All in all I don’t know if the juice is worth the squeeze so to speak. On the upside all the beautiful paint is present and he will look good next to the other K3 figures on a shelf. He is also surprisingly solid for an glorified accessory set but I wished he would transform more especially the big feet parts for Star Saber to maybe include a tail and fill out the back spine section.
  7. Would a WfC style commander class like Star Saber really be worth a HasLab project? I could see a Victory Leo Star Saber two pack though. Maybe a CW Devastator scaled Dinoking/Monstructor with shells?
  8. I feel like the QC issues are something you need to accept when collecting Takara MP figures. They are not Bandai Tamashii Nations after all. However it would be nice to see a learning curve in the build quality and QC in their most prestigious toy line but it is either stagnant or getting worse. MMC and FansToys both have shown considerable growth in that regard even if they have the occasional dud. And I want them to do better because I feel like some of figures I want in my collection I will only get from them, like a good Fire Convoy or Overlord & God Ginrai (Don’t bring up Fans Hobby I wouldn’t touch any of their releases with a 10 foot pole) .
  9. I thought I write something about the quality of the Masterpiece line. From all the toylines I collect regularly (MMC Reformatted and Ocular Max, FansToys, Metal Build Gundams, DX Chogokin Valkyries and Kuro Kara Kuri Transformers) besides Masterpiece Transformers they are the worst ones in terms of quality. And it is not just cracks which plagued the line since MP-05 Megaton I think. My first experience of a figure crumbling in my hands was MP-09B whose knee joints exploded after one transformation. Of course the after sales service is non existing for overseas buyers so I had to order 3rd party replacement pieces just to discover that the tubes the joints rotate in also crumbled. I had inconsistent, lumpy paint on MP Lambor, partial painted pieces on MP Star Saber and Ultra Magnus. Paint rub out of the box on the lights on MP-44s chest and a fingerprint good enough to fool any security system on the back of Roller, which HLJ told me was to be an expected QC issues on a product of this company so they won‘t do anything about it. Their toys have the ugliest nub marks in the most obvious places. Their materials feel cheap and not as sharply molded as they could be. Their paint is thick yet inconsistent and flakes off easily. The joints on MP Transformers often are too loose of inconsistent quality or broken and can’t support poses. I cut them a lot slack in the past because I feel that they have some of the best engineering when it comes to designing the transformation and producing collector grade toys is obviously not their bread and butter. But when several of your direct, unofficial competitors put out a superior product in terms of fit and finish, something is not right. And that was before their prices skyrocketed. Now I don’t feel like getting my money’s worth and I lucked out by not buying their Hound and Starscream. And I say all this as a fan of Transformers and the Masterpiece line. I want to enjoy collecting their releases.
  10. @anubis20 that looks absolutely stunning. Makes me wish for a Metal Build version (like all your builds do).
  11. I like MP-44 better than the TE and MS one. Granted, I only have the Nemesis variant of the 3rd party ones but I don’t think that makes a whole lot of difference. I prefer the articulation, joint design, paint and materials on MP-44. I also find the transformation interesting. However the TE one has probably the most ingenious transformation. Especially how the hips transform. What I find most fascinating is that MP-49, Black Convoy, is probably the worst of the three toon MP Primes I have, even though it is the same mold than MP-44.
  12. I agree that you can find that in every collector community. However I feel that it is more openly discussed outside of the Transformers fandom (excluding the intersection of Macross and Transformers fans). Whereas Transformers fans seem to be happy if it matches the general shape of the alt-mode. And of course how have apologists in every fandom that need to defend their believe system (i.e. purchases ) no matter what. MP Hound doesn’t really look like the Army Jeep from all angles. Same for Sideswipe or Optimus. They all fall into the „close enough“ category because they need to make concessions for transforming into the robot they are supposed to be. Seldomly the licensor demands alt-mode accuracy like Lamborghini did with Sunstreakers unsplittable hood. Generally this is a good thing because it gives the designers more freedom in how to get from one shape to another. Case in point all the renditions of a „Masterpiece“ Optimus: completely different but they all resemble each other in both modes. However sometimes this approach also allows for lazy solutions where the designer neglects one mode. MP-52 seems to be a victim of that. Macross on the other hand is the total opposite where you have „canonized“ conversions and you are not allowed to derivate from them. I would love to have a VF-1 that has slim legs and long wings in Fighter-Mode yet it has a mechanism that shortens the wings and bulks out the legs in Battroid. But you can’t have that because of how it is supposed to transform. Sure there are small tricks you can implement like the improvements between the VF-25 V1 and Renewal but in the general the designers are much more restricted in what they are allowed to do.
  13. I to own MP-44 and I do feel Takara threw all those (cheap to make) accessories in the box to rectify its high MSRP because paying 30k JPY for just Optimus feels excessive. On the other hand MP-44 is the best MP Optimus and the best entry in the Takara Masterpiece line to date. @mikeszekely I’m probably part of the problem because I feel the Kuro Kara Kuri toys are worth every Cent I pay for them. And I can definitely understand why they cost that much more compared to the 3A offerings.
  14. I still want a DX Eagle Robo from Action Toys.
  15. I’m always surprised how unconcerned Transformers collectors are with the accuracy of the alt-mode. Probably because most of them collect a representations of the character Starscream and not a toy that „converts“ from a F-15 fighter jet to a mecha. I think there is a big difference to what Macross Valkyrie collectors are after. But to be fair MP-52 alt-modes underside looks faithful to his representation in the show (i.e. not like an F-15).
  16. I think the scarcity of FansToys products will go away. The past year probably saw a bad combination of limited factory time and limited raw materials due to shutdowns and than high demand after the shutdown ended. Combine that with people having more disposable income due to not going on vacation/partying and stimulus checks while feeling bored sitting at home all day and you got a overheated market with more demand than supply. The scarcity and higher demand of resources probably also factored into the higher prices. And while I agree that MP-44 set a bad president for pricing already before stuff like the FT Insecticons fetched ridiculous prices on the aftermarket and I’m sure FansToys is well aware of their market.
  17. I‘ll second that. The worst offender is the voluminous, unproportioned chest and all for the sake of a Matrix gimmick that isn’t even canon if I remember correctly. The sad thing is FansToys could have designed a vastly superior product, proofing to the fandom that they can make better MP toys than Takara. Sadly Hoodlum is mediocre at best. So MP Hot Rodimus is still the Hot Rod in my collection. 😑
  18. @mikeszekely Stellarus Prominion looks like a pass to me. It just doesn’t cater to my preferences. Maybe MMC will put out a repaint in Nemesis Prime colors whose paint job is much more appealing to me. One thing that is really off putting are the translucent blue windows. I think they would look much better (i.e. not cheap) if they had a silver coat on the inside, or be painted completely. From the pictures and descriptions everything about this toy screams cost savings which strikes me as an odd decision since fans of Star Convoy, like Mike, would have payed for a toy with all the bells and whistles I think. While the cheaper price won’t sway the casual Optimus Prime enjoyers into buying it. I think I will buy a Purple Potato instead.
  19. I use mine often while watching YouTube when the only TV in the household is blocked. Or on business trips, vacations, etc.
  20. For me the new stand is reason enough to upgrade. God, I hate the one on the current Switch.
  21. I think I need to buy an Alley Viper. It was one of the 4 or 5 GI Joe toys I had as a child. I hope it will be orange and blue.
  22. I have MP-09B flashbacks. The lower legs and knees crumbled after transforming it once. 😬
