The computer and electronics super geek thread
azrael replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You'll probably want something with a 15" screen or larger. Now for the last question, what's your budget for this system? You said you don't want spend too much money. So less than $1000? <$800? <$600? (We really need to come up with a simple questionnaire for people to fill out before they post "Recommend a system for me".) -
It will be out when it's ready.

How big of a screen were you looking at? Will this be your primary computer? If not, were you planning on attaching an external monitor? -
Talk to this member: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=27001 My conversation with Robert Woodhead of Animeigo about a Gubaba plush toy someone had at a Macross panel back in the day was, "It's really really really rare. Good luck finding one."

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

Still a "Concept". At this point, it's looking to stay that way. -
Sketch, DHX, how about both of you do me a favor and sit out this thread before I decide to ban both of you.

http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Macross_Galaxy_%28fleet%29 (Notice Macross Galaxy Fleet, not Macross Galaxy) The liner notes for MF vol. 3 DVD/Blu-Ray mention Galaxy left Eden about 10 years prior to Frontier. There's no listing in later publications however so it's possible that the liner notes got it wrong. Yes, wrong. I've seen it listed as the 9th fleet, the 21st fleet, and the 51st fleet. Which makes my head spin.

If you want to rant about PG 00, we have a thread for that here. This thread is for the 1/48 VF-25, when it should ever come out.
-
Well, you better make the time if you want to continue with the argument. Perhaps it's because the shows run a particular theme? Really, Macross 25 (Frontier), Macross Quarter (1/4, .25), VF-25, etc...All runs with the 25th Anniversary. Macross 7, Mylene is the 7th daughter, etc.
-
No. This is Strike Gundam with bigger shoulder pads.
-
No. There are probably more, but we only know of Macross 1, 5, 7, 9(?), 11, and 13. They have never said there were more or less, just that those mentioned have been story-relevant.

Agreed. These are probably your best choices. And it will depend on how much gaming you plan on doing. You can buy additional memory from Newegg.com for much cheaper prices. You can buy your hard drives from Newegg or most other retailers off-the-shelf without much hassle. Now that the i5s are out, I will definitely be looking at the i5 750 or the i7 860. -
Legally speaking, there is nothing wrong with those statements from HG. It is only fan interpretation of those statements (i.e. substitute Robotech with Macross/Southern Cross/etc) that confuses the statement and makes it very wrong. Most legal documents are written to be very specific, with lots of vocabulary not used in normal-everyday conversation. If it wasn't, it would be "subject to interpretation" more so than it should be. And that would bring up more headaches. Again, this isn't our problem how they treat their fans and web community. If that's how they want to run their business, that's how they'll want to run their business. Neither do I. I would have to dig around for Southern Cross material and figure out who did what. After that, I'm not sure how much further I can go since anymore would involve looking at the contract between BW and Tatsunoko for Southern Cross and that's a definite no-go.

That is a correction and a somewhat summarized version of the article posted a day earlier. The one you link to was posted on January 21st, 2003. This one was posted on January 20th, 2003. Which leads us to yesterday's post from Gubaba. TheLoneWolf makes a nice easy summary of the situation with links. No it doesn't. They don't take the time to read and digest the material. People don't understand how to "lawyer" the readings. Then people start listening to asinine comments from people like MEMO or when people like Seto, or you, or me, or anybody else who understands how this all works try to explain things, they get confused because they just don't understand how things work. Usually due to a lack of knowledge about how this all works. It may be best to point them in the direction of building the foundation before we start putting up the framework.

Do you plan on running Mac OS as your primary OS? Or do you plan on running Windows (via Boot Camp) as your primary OS? If you plan on Windows, then it makes absolutely no sense to get a Mac Pro or build a Hackintosh on your own. It would be easier to build a machine tailored to Windows as opposed to being limited by what hardware Mac OS can support. I say this because normally when people talk about using Mac OS, they do so because they plan on using Mac OS as their primary operating system (as opposed to Windows). Otherwise, why buy or build a Mac Pro if you do not intend to use Mac OS. -

Well, if you can answer my question on your intended usage, we can either recommend a pre-built system, a equivalent Mac, or recommend parts for you to buy and put together yourself. You said you wanted a high-end system. That's a start. -

Those components are a list of hardware that is compatible with Mac OS X. Snow Leopard is the name for Mac OS X 10.6.x. You may want to spend some time looking at Apple's website (Linky) Sorry if I'm a bit confused here but is there any reason that you are looking at a Mac Pro? Are you looking at getting a Mac Pro just because the case or desktop looks good? Or do you want to switch to the Mac OS because it satisfies certain software needs? If you're getting it for just the case, I'd take mikeszekely's suggestion and look around Ebay for an emtpy, used G5 or Mac Pro case. Or make a computer according to the specs that mikeszekely posted in the links and install Mac OS on that computer. If you're planning on switching to the Mac OS platform due to hardware and/or software issues that are cumbersome with Windows or some other OS, then can you explain those? You haven't answered the question of what you want to use a Mac Pro for. Is this for e-mail, word processing, surfing the 'Net? Is this for running multiple virtual machines? Is this for intensive graphics manipulation or animation? Is this for gaming? Are you planning on using this as a full multimedia machine where you have to edit sounds, images or what not into a compliation? Etc? If you can explain what your intended use is, it helps us answer your question(s). -

Gonna have to agree with mikeszekely. Unless you plan on doing graphics work (Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Animation rendering) or any kind of multimedia work, a Mac Pro is a bit over priced. What do you plan on doing with it that requires that much power in a desktop computer? -

This is the best your board can use: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103471 Bear in mind that A) Your motherboard may not support this processor. Check with the manufacturer (in your case, Acer) if they have a new BIOS out which can support this processor. If they do not have one or one that supports Socket AM2+, you will not be able to use it. B) You will not be able to take advantage of HyperTransport 3.0. Additionally, because your motherboard is an AM2-specification, it will be limited to features used in the AM2-specification (1 GHz HyperTransport 2.0, and one power plane for both cores and the IMC). -
Considering that PG 00 Raiser is 26,250 Yen (~$282 USD), 300 sounds just about right.

Yup. It will be interesting to see what Piranha Games does. But bear in mind that HG only sent a takedown notice to IGN, Youtube and any other site for posting the trailer. That trailer isn't in-game footage as far as I can tell. It's just a trailer. And if that's so, the law-violating-mech in question may not even be in the game. And we know how game trailers don't always reflect what you can actually do in the game.
-
It will be interesting to see how the gaming community reacts to that.

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
azrael replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
I didn't say if it was or wasn't a mistake/typo only that I have only seen it in 2 spots, in this book and in Chronicle #1. In all the recent documentation, those are the only 2 places I've seen it. -

Find a power connector coming from the power supply unit that looks like this: Plug that into other end.
