  1. Testing colors and decals: I want markings reminiscent of Macross, but visually distinct. We've got plenty of reference for detailing ATAC, TASC and GMP armor, but the mecha is uncharted territory... πŸ€”
  2. Preorders are expected to go up by December, apparently: With confirmation of size, finally! The 1:100 Master Grade Gundam (ver.2.0) stands 18cm tall. πŸ”’
  3. As a massive Linkin Park fan myself, I wouldn't say The Emptiness Machine is "better than their usual stuff," but I absolutely love it nonetheless. It's polished and clean and perhaps better suited to mainstream tastes than the ragged, raw stuff from the early days of the band, where it felt less about making great music and more about processing trauma... Honestly, hearing Emily Armstrong scream those lyrics the way only Chester could, it absolutely brought me to tears of joy. I was not surprised to learn that, over a few years and a few sessions with surviving band members, they slowly came to the realization that they could actually put the band back together. They weren't looking for a new vocalist, but Emily's sound suited the band so well that it suddenly seemed like a foregone conclusion. I'm hotly anticipating the release of their new album on Sunday, and I'm overjoyed that Linkin Park has finally risen from Chester's ashes.
  4. They cost me Β₯3800 each in the boxes... Now I see they're Β₯3300 on the cards. Not "half price," but certainly "still a little up there." πŸ˜‰
  5. I love the blister card packaging, but there's no way I'm double-dipping on those expensive little figures just for the cardbacks... πŸ˜’
  6. I imagine a lot of us made the same decision, myself included. Even at 40% off, the Fugu was still the superior option.
  7. In other words: "We knew our product would be criticized in the English-speaking world because of the missing pilot figure, and because you Macross fans always complain about QC, so we decided to sell as many as we could locally before our international customers trash its reputation on social media." Hollywood executives often decide not to screen films in advance for critics for the same reason. πŸ˜’
  8. Not roughly, no... Precisely in scale. As far as I've been able to calculate, it's exactly 1:48th (to scale with all the Moscato Bioroids, Invid, Sentinel Mospeada and DX Chogokin VF-1s). 😊
  9. Thanks to your feedback and encouragement, guys, I've made a couple more adjustments... ...and tried to push my digital kitbashing skills a little further. Landing gear! Even more display options now. 😎 I've also replaced the single-thruster heel design with the double-thruster heels more consistently seen in robot mode. I'm hoping to get a couple of these little Logans painted up before my Tanku-Robo kits arrive. ☺️
  10. I was suspecting as much myself, and I appreciate the confirmation.
  11. Definite improvement. πŸ‘ While you're at it, you might consider painting the red sensor lights on the nosecone, to match all your other VF-1 toys...
  12. Finally, an Ingram to scale with CMs' Patlabor figures! 😍 Kaiyodo's "Mega Sofubi" Reactive Armor Ingram, to be exact. This is Unit 1... ...the only one I could afford, sadly. 😐 But you know, I had to have at least one. 😎
  13. Thanks for the words of encouragement, gentlemen. I wasn't a big fan of it before, but the more I examine the overall shape and the individual parts, the more I see the charm of the design. I've really become quite taken by it now. 😍 That's very observant, and just the kind of constructive criticism I was hoping for. And from the Captain himself! 😁
  14. Of course it's out there... not just original scripts, but novels and comic books ripe for film adaptation. What ISN'T out there, however, is: a producer with deep pockets and the courage to gamble on a project without an established market base a thriving home video market to fall back on if the film doesn't immediately find an audience in theaters a studio willing to spend as much on marketing as on the production itself, knowing they'll have to make back FOUR TIMES the production budget just to break even Frankly, the situation is almost as bad in Japan, where an anime series can't get produced without a hit manga, video game, or light novel to adapt any more... Original sci-fi epics like Yamato, Gundam or Evangelion just don't get made any more. 😐
  15. So, back in the spring I was whining about MaxLab's "Wolverine," the 3D-printed Logan model they'd developed in cooperation with MEP... I complained about the proportions, the inaccurate details, and the obsolete equipment they'd used for their prototype. Now that I have my own 3D printer, and a few months of experience with modeling software, I've spent the last few weeks tweaking their design to come up with something more anime-accurate: The first (and perhaps most significant) change I made was to add a TASC pilot figure. The hollow shoulder covers were taken from a different 3D model, as were the thinner wings... I made major changes to the legs and the feet, to try and make them look more like the Ammonite line-art... I also replaced the oversized nose cannons with my own scratchbuilt barrels. Finally, I added some additional articulation to the heels and feet with aftermarket ball-joints, and an alternate open hand. The flight stand is temporary; I hope to come up with something more adjustable. Now it's finally ready for painting. 😁
  16. That's exactly my point, see: That's how they're supposed to look.
  17. I certainly meant no offence, and I thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt. πŸ™ I imagine most of us here (the so-called "Robotech generation") are middle-aged men now, and even those of us who aren't pushing fifty are nonetheless past our prime. My vision isn't what it was five years ago, and I certainly don't expect it to improve...! 😬 I wonder how soon the products catering to collectors of our generation start to reflect the aging market, and how they're likely to change as a result. Kawamori himself is only six months from mandatory retirement, and without his direct influence I don't expect future Valkyrie toys to maintain the same level of quality... πŸ€”
  18. Sure, if you're following Bandai's instructions, and using those little clips... They're supposed to be canted outward toward the front. The only reason why you're suggesting those fins should need to move (or even be able to move) is because Bandai has misled you into believing that's the way it's supposed to be. Their toy is engineered that way, but it doesn't reflect the VT-1 design or its depiction in the movie. That's why I considered glue to be an effective solution in this case. Does your difficulty with dexterity affect your ability to install the gerwalk antenna? Swap out the pilots? Transform the toy, even? Just curious. πŸ€”
  19. Glue. Garden-variety, buck-store CA Krazy glue. I don't mean to belittle those who got broken toys, nor excuse Bandai's infamous QC fails of late, but this one's such a stupidly easy fix... The fins don't have to fold for transformation. Just glue it!
  20. If it weren't for MERSA's chronic mammarial obsession, that would've been a fantastic figure... πŸ˜’ ...but as always, the breasts end up too big for the character, too big for the body, and too big for the laws of physics. 🀨
  21. That was NOT an unboxing. The toy remained in the box. πŸ˜… As a non-canon scheme I don't have the space to display, I'm not even sure why I ordered even one, truth be told... ...but seeing as I'm the only one to have received such a damaged box, maybe I'd have better luck with a second. πŸ€” It may be my only recourse, since Show.Z has ignored my complaint so far. 😐 Still happy with the toy, though! πŸ‘
  22. X-Plus Minus One attacks! Fabulous sculpt and detail, as always... Naturally photogenic... ...and appropriately-scaled to N-gauge train set dioramas. 😎
  23. Arcadia's Garland is the pinnacle of transformable toys, but Yamato's Bubblegum Crisis Moto-slaves deserve a mention, too... ...as does the "Variable Action Hi-Spec" Galvion Circus-1 from MegaHouse. In the grand Hasbro tradition, I rebranded him as a Transformer. ☺️
  24. Sorry, I've long since run out of space for displaying non-canon schemes. I'm giving this one a pass. In fact, I haven't even figured out where my DX VT-1's gonna go, much less Fugu's FG-01 Jetfire... They're just cluttering up my photo studio at present. 😐
