Judging from that pic, it looks like not-Motormaster will provide the combiner limbs for the other Stunticons (feet and forearms).- 9275 replies

Wait, did that review say "machine guns, insulin jabs and Tasers in a medieval setting?" My morbid curiosity has been piqued. Probably rent it a couple of months later.

Want, but can't find, much less afford. The Year of the Snake Omega will have to suffice, although even that one might burn a hole in my wallet right now.- 9275 replies

Just my two cents' worth, but I think the biggest problem lies with Anikin's character as a whole. I know I don't speak for every SW fan, but I envisioned a very different Anikin from the whiny little emo punk we got. Cliched as it might be, I saw him as a former slave who's suffered horribly under his master (maybe a pit-fighter ala Conan instead of pod-racing), who only marginally learns to trust in others through his relationship with Qui-Gon and a somewhat distrusting Obi Wan. His past makes him an unforgiving and vengeful individual, but he tries to do good if only to fit in. He trusts no one with the secrets of his heart, but makes a rare exception for Padme and Obi Wan. I'd have also changed the events of his mother's kidnapping a little. Make it so that she's delusional from torture and sees Anikin as one of her sons in her new-found family, calling Ben's name instead of his before she dies. This makes him extremely bitter, and he takes it out on the Tusken camp. He confides in Padme, but simply mentions that his mother doesn't even remember him--I'll let this whiny moment slide because she's his mother, after all. Padme asks what happened to the Tuskens, and he casually mentions he left none of the vermin alive, instead of bawling in shame--this shows his inner Vader as a foreshadow to the viewer. In EP3, the Jedi Council's rejection of his appointment as Master causes him to feel that the Jedi order is no better than all the corrupt and selfish people they seem to scorn. This is when Palpatine seduces him with promises of immortality and power. Padme's disaproval leads him to feel utterly betrayed and alone, and loneliness leads to fear, fear leads to anger, and anger leads to Disneyland, yadda yadda yadda.... That's my take on things, at least. TL;DR, yeah, the general premise of the prequels are salvageable, but could have done with some tweaking.

Funny you should say that. I remember in the first X-Men movie, Rogue asked Logan if it hurts when the claws come out, to which he replies, "Every time." -

Very nice, although I'd prefer clear windshields. Or are they trying to homage the G1 toy by giving it painted windshields?- 9275 replies

If I recall correctly, as far as the movies are concerned, it sounds like when you pull a kitchen knife out of a holder. It does sound vaguely metallic, but there's no "shwing" noise in the end, like you'd hear when a blade just leaves the sheath in some Hollywood movies. In the 90's cartoon series, though, it has that typical Hollywood metal-on-metal sound. -

Takara can't use that same excuse, since it caters more to the adult collector. But at the rate they're going with the MP line, it might take years before they're even through with half the G1 cast. Still holding on to hope for a TT MP official Menasor and Bruticus, though.- 9275 replies

IMO, the metal on metal sound is just for dramatic purposes. Japanese video games are even worse. Whenever there's a cutscene of someone in a Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors game using his/her weapon, it rattles when he/she moves the weapon. If a weapon actually made that sound in real life, the damn blade would probably fall off halfway through a strike. Anyways, I don't think there's any sword, katana, jian or dao out there that uses a metal sheath. It adds unnecessary weight to the whole weapon when carrying it, and metal was very expensive in ancient times as well, so it wouldn't be used in such a superfluous way. Now I'm just guessing here, but using a metal sheath might also blunt the edge of the weapon from the constant grinding of metal on metal during sheathing and unsheathing. I've never read the Wolverine comics, but that makes perfect sense. -
The VF-1 is a given, since I wouldn't be a Macross fan if I didn't like it's design. As for other VF's, in no particular order: 1. VF-0S - I like that it looks like an updated design of the iconic VF-1S, although chronologically, it's the other way around. 2. YF-21 - Very unique and sleek design, plus I like it the Zentran elements mixed into its design. 3. YF-19 - Another unique design and iconic design. 4. VF-2SS - Looks like a very natural evolution of the original VF-1 design. 5. VF-1D (original and Virgin Road versions) - Some of the most memorable scenes features this Valk, and remains one of my all-time favorites.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I'll be happy if they announce a reissue of the VT-1 Super Ostrich with fixed (non-cracking) shoulder hinges this WonderFest. A VF-2SS would be a very unlikely but pleasant surprise.

I'm planning on doing a bit of weathering using ground chalk washes on an FoC Jazz figure. What exactly happens when you use sealant on ground chalk washes? I plan on clear coating it using Tamiya matte coat.

Looks like I'm not the only one who can't stand the new skinny emo-punk Dante. Ironically, the "original Dante skin" DLC seems to only fan the flames of anger for those who don't like his new look. Apparently, they feel as if Capcom is making them pay for something that should have been made as a free unlockable. BTW, I just googled some more reviews, and it seems there are quite a few more issues with the game than just Dante's looks. The sucky framerate on the PS3 is the main deal-breaker for me, since it's the only console I own.- 6876 replies

Thanks Mike, but as much as I appreciate the offer, my wallet's kind of tight right now, what with the all the HT pre-orders I made. And I still have to save some pennies for upcoming games and "surprise announcements" HT seems to be so fond of.- 17112 replies

There won't be a lack of spilt blood with Wolverine as the main character. One thing though; what would he need a katana for if he's got three adamantium claws in each hand? A katana's got better reach, but given his healing ability, getting up-close and personal shouldn't be an issue. -

Problem is, the TRU's where I'm at (Malaysia) totally suck. You hardly get decent "regular" TF's, much less MP's. So far, the only Seeker I got is Starscream, which I bought from a hobby store. My only hopes for a MP TC and Skywarp will be when Takara repaints the v2 Starscream toy as the two.- 17112 replies

I agree about the new Dante. No matter how hard I try to accept this "new" look, he just isn't Dante. I was expecting about 20 hours or so of gameplay, which isn't too much to ask. I remember taking around a week to complete DMC3 on the PS2, but then I only play about 2-3 hours a day. Dynasty Warriors took much longer, especially if you want to try out all your favorite characters.- 6876 replies

That would depend on the choreoprapher. Now I'm by no means an expert in kendo, but one uses a katana in a very practical and economic way, unlike the almost dance-like moves of classical jian or dao arts. With that in mind, it would be a little difficult to create more flashy and impressive fight scenes if a choreographer were to stick to strictly kendo moves, especially for HK action choreographers. Of course, Jet Li style fighting wouldn't really go well with a character like Wolverine. Just my two cents' worth. -

Prowl is on my to-buy list. Didn't notice Smokescreen much in the G1 series as kid, so he's a likely pass for me. WTF is Tigertrack doing as a Sideswipe repaint? Still waiting for the other two inevitable v2 Seekers to complete my MP Seeker team.- 17112 replies

That's a nice Revy statue. Love the pose! I came into figma collecting a little too late, and missed out on her Figma figure. Ebay prices kinda suck, and I don't want to risk getting a defective one and having to haggle with the seller for a refund or replacement.

Anyone played the DMC reboot yet? I was tempted to buy it, but the reported 10-hour playtime is too short to spend money on, especially with MGS Rising and Tomb Raider just on the horizon. I'm not sure if the previous DMC games were that short, but they actually felt longer to me.- 6876 replies

Never knew it made that much money internationally. Money talks, I guess, if the Transformers movies are anything to go by.

Did Van Helsing even do well enough critically or at the box office to warrant a reboot? Personally, I think it was a rather forgettable movie, pretty much a one-off meal ticket to tide Hugh Jackman over in between X-Men and Wolverine movies. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that good either.
