  1. I dunno, maybe Skyfire would drain their energon supplies too much, given his size, and they decided to leave him in "sleep mode" until they needed him. Won't be the first time the Autobots made a pragmatic decision. In FoC, they were literally milking Trypticon of energon. BTW, thanks for clearing things up. So it was Fire in the Sky where Soundwave used that thing to revive Skyfire? I wonder why everyone else said it was Fire in the Mountain? EDIT: I'm getting confused here. If the Decepticons found him in Fire in the Sky and the Autobots revived him in Fire in the Mountain, shouldn't it have been Fire in the Sky where Soundwave used that mini-vac?
  2. I vaguely remember watching that episode as a kid, something about Skyfire having been former buddies with Starscream, and he was tricked into joining the Decepticons. Strangely, I don't recall ever seeing Soundwave resurrecting Skyfire, and I certainly don't recall him using that mini-vac thingie. Obviously he did revive Skyfire with that mini-vac, but I just don't remember it.
  3. Chump is right. I've got a feeling that if each of us wrote a screenplay of what should have happened in the prequels and how Vader should have been portraayed, every single one would probably be better than what Lucas offered us.
  4. Just brought MP Soundwave back from the store. Glad to say everything's in good order. I even got a small discount due to the yen's recent slight decrease. The figure's just full of awesomeness. Looks statuesque no matter how you pose him, and I can't really complain about the articulation. He actually manages a decent crouch especially if you pla around with the hip joints, so I have no idea what all the fuss was about. And Laserbeak is such a purdy burdy. Easy but interesting transformation, and looks very good for its size. They even managed to include a tiny head-camera he sometimes used in the 80's cartoon. My only issue with MP Soundwave is the gun; actually it's the hands that hold the gun. Like MP-10, the large forearms and his static thumb make it so that there's a gap between his hand and the trigger when he holds the gun. This could have been remedied by designing the gun to convert like Yamato's VF-1 gun-pods, where the trigger lowers to meet the hand. That way, it won't look like Soundwave is afraid of contracting cosmic rust through the trigger. TBH, the accessories don't do much for me. The energon cube seems redundant, and I already have the tiny gun mode Megatron from MP-01. The screen grid on his chest is kind of cool, but I don't like having to cut up the user manual to use it. The mini-vac thing apparently appeared for all of three seconds in an episode called Fire in the Mountain, which I don't even remember watching. At least its unobtrusive and tucks away in his back when not in use. Personally, I'd gladly trade the energon cube, mini-vac thing and the mini gun mode Megatron for an extra cassette like Ravage or Ratbat. With all that said, it's the main figure that matters and he is nearly flawless in both modes. Strangely, I didn't get an MP coin this time; didn't realize it until I got home. I'll have go back one of these days and ask the store owner about it. BTW, sorry to hear about your Laserbeak, Mike. Hope you get it replaced soon.
  5. As dated as it is, I still prefer The Major from Mamoru Oshii's first GitS movie. She looks much more realistic and believable as a member of an elite government agency. The outfits from the first season of SAC are undoubtedly sexy, but they look a little ridiculous, to be honest. The ones from 2nd Gig are much better.
  6. That's the whole point of playing as a cyborg; you get to kick ass in superhuman ways on screen, but still keep your limbs and your schlong. That said, I don't think they chop off the guy's dick for cyberization. What would be the purpose in that? If he has internal organs, he'd still need to piss and take a dump. Hell, even Robocop had to eat baby food. As for in-game logic, it might be along the same lines as GitS SAC, where refugees or invalids (don't remember the details) are given cyborg bodies during active service in the military or law enforcement agencies.
  7. Doesn't Masamune's original manga also depict her dressed like a cyber-ho?
  8. IMO, there actually isn't any fun in that, which is why I'm glad they went with the slash-em-up thing.
  9. It's been almost half a year since I last read that, but IIRC, it was an IGN article--don't have a link, though. And yes, I think it was the Konami staff that made the comment.
  10. I specifically remember reading an interview somewhere that said they will keep with the principals of MGS and not promote acts of violence.
  11. LOL! Classes for cyborg ninjas of awesome! You got me there. But wouldn't a ninjitsu master in some tiny Japanese village be more appropriate than a native shaman (I'm guessing Native Americans here)? So he works for Big Mama (can't help picturing Martin Lawrence in drag wearing a fat-suit when he first mentioned that name ) ? So I take it he went rogue somewhere along the way, then? You're right; MGSR should have been set somewhere between MGS2 and MGS4; at the very least, it would have served to fill in some of the questions regarding his backstory.
  12. Flat space technology from the Ultra Violet universe? Ugh, hate to remind myself of that awful movie.
  13. @ Electric Indigo: I've said this once about your ZOE Jehuty, and I'll say it again about your Fighting Falcon: I love the subtle shading you do for your model kits.
  14. I remember the shaman thing from where he comments on how Snake should track Naomi by her footprints after the Laughing Octopus fight. Come to think of it, the whole thing is pretty convoluted. Who does Raiden work for in MGS4? If it's the Patriots, what the hell is he doing aiding Snake? Has he gone rogue or something? And what the hell is he doing getting trained in combat and stealth by a fricking shaman? Don't the US special forces have trainers for that?
  15. You've got a point there. But judging from that trailer, might Raiden have something of a Jeckyl and Hyde complex going on there? He was glowing red in the last half of the trailer. BTW, I never knew he was experimented on by the Patriots. I probably hold the world record for most repeat playthroughs of a MGS4 game (5-7 times), and not once did I heard mention of this. Was this explained in some interview or guidebook?
  16. Yes, I would have also preferred such an added scene. The emotional impact would be great for both Padme and Obi Wan, seeing him in his mask. Even Vader himself, watching his lover and his friend side-by-side, while he is encased in a breathing apparatus.
  17. I don't think Raiden's ever been portrayed as a "nice guy." I you pay attention to the MGS2 SOL codec conversations between Rose and Jack, he's always had a bit of a psycho killer in him beneath the surface. In MGS4, he wasn't able to fit into a "normal" life and got into fights almost every night. He eventually up and left. The one thing that still puzzles me is how he became a cyborg. As for the MGSR game itself, so much for the whole " we don't reward players for killing and committing acts of violence" thing.
  18. I'm interested in the Medicom Utapau Airborne Trooper fig. For some reason, I just like the helmet's bulky design. Still on the fence on this one as it's a pretty pricy item, and I'm by no means a Star Wars fan. I just happen to like this particular fig's armor design.
  19. For the convenience of others interested in the FOC Springer/Astrotrain thing, here's a pic of the placeholder: My only worry is Hasbro's execution of turning the designs into toys. So far the FoC voyagers have been consistently good, though. I'll remain cautiously optimistic until we see start seeing pics of the actual products.
  20. Seriously not a fan of the BH look.
  21. Yeah, the proportions are too masculine. While the face design is very nice, I'm not a fan of the pink cap thing. Awesome bike mode, though. Damn that blurred pic; looks like her spidr legs actually come off to form a mechanical spider drone or something. Sweet.
  22. Glad Yamato's not making anything I'd have to save money for right now, because this game is so bought!
