  1. Yeah, the user manual recommends only using the compressor for a maximum of 20-30 minutes at a time. I guess I'll leave large surfaces for spray cans, and AB smaller stuff or when I'm detailing stuff. And thanks for caring, MT. I keep hearing of local shops where you can get all sorts of hobby stuff, but they seem to be in the remotest parts of town. And when I finally find the damn place, it's either moved or something. I'm only so-so when it comes to Tamiya stuff, but they're the most available source in town, and probably the whole country. If only I lived closer to the US (close enough that the shipping wouldn't kill my wallet), I'd have gladly bought a Sparmax compressor or whatever online and be done with it. Then again, I'm not even sure if the voltage in the US is the same as Malaysia.
  2. Well, I'll say this much. Even on normal mode, it's no pushover. I was able to survive boss battles without getting killed up until Monsoon, where I repeated several times before finally figuring out his offenses and defense, and working around them. The final boss was hell in a hand-basket until I got the hang of using blade mode and cut up the junk he threw at me. I've been able to play comfortably through the game in normal mode after that, but I'm definitely going to fully upgrade the Murasama and Armor Breaker AND get the yellow custom body before taking on harder levels. As for parrying, I couldn't get one in ten tries to connect. What I do is to continuously flick the left analog stick toward the enemy even as I attack. That way, even if I don't parry, I still automatically block any attacks. This has worked out pretty well for me. The only times I've successfully parried was during the tutorial and in the game, mostly by accident. I tried pre-emptively parrying, but mostly I just manage to block the attack. If you're into RPG's I strongly recommend Valkyria Chronicles. It's got a great story, good gameplay and the anime-based graphics make it somewhat ageless. You can't go wrong with GoW3, as well as Deus Ex - Human Revolution, and Metal Gear Solid 4. The Transformers fan in me strongly suggests you buy War for Cybertron and especially Fall of Cybertron. Beautiful graphics, decent gameplay, and besides, it's about giant transforming robots killing each other in a metal battlefield!
  3. Chas, MT, Grapetang, thanks for the replies! @Chas: Yeah, that's the setup I've got. The local website for the shop is defunct, so it's pretty hard to get either a phone number or an email address. No, I don't mean to use the battery and charger like a laptop. What I meant was to use the charger as I would an adapter, as in plugging the charger directly into the compressor. @MT: It says, ac/dc adapter. The input says AC22- 50/60Hz, while the output says DC 7.2V - 500mA. There's no mention of amps, though. Would that work? I'm thinking it's a trickle charger, too. I guess I'll go ahead and charge it for 12 hours. @grapetang: That sounds a little too complex for me. Well, I guess there's always the batteries to fall back on.
  4. If I used to like GEKKO's for their design, I now HATE them in MGR. Biggest f*cking annoyance in almost any VR missions. If these existed in the real world and I saw one of them, I'd spit on their sensors and take a leak in their fuel tanks! ...a dormant, powered down, or damaged one at least.
  5. Some of these VR missions in MGR are a real pain. The combat oriented ones basically require you to perform perfect Zandatsu's on damn near every enemy in order to make the time for ranking. Kind of hard when you've got a f*cking GEKKO trying to kick you to death. Parrying is probably the best way to do it, but the window is so fricking narrow that I could only connect maybe once in every 10 parries. Upgrading doesn't make the task any easier since it doesn't influence Raiden's stats at all in VR missions.
  6. I've pretty much given up looking for an AC adapter for my Tamiya basic compressor by myself. Either I've been looking in all the wrong places, or it's just that illusive. Currently asking someone else to find it for me. Hopefully he'll come through. Anyways, I got myself one of those rechargeable battery packs they use for Tamiya RC cars, which the compressor also uses. Thing is, the charger doesn't have any LED indicators or auto-shutdown. I don't want to overcharge the batteries. I remember the guy at the store saying it should be charged for 12 hours, but I'm not sure if that's only for the first time before using it or every time. I hate to drive all the way back to the store (pretty far from where I live) to ask them, and googling didn't turn up anything useful. ONE MORE THING: Might I be able to splice a Tamiya male connector to the battery charger, attach it via the battery connector and use it as an AC adapter? It sounds workable, but I don't want to risk it without knowing for sure that it works. Thanks for any info!
  7. What possessed them to choose to up-scale RID Prime over FE Prime?!
  8. The option parts I got were dark gray. Doesn't matter to me; as long as I've got something to cover up the sides of the Valk. The gray's pretty versatile, as I can use them on any color Valk without it looking out of place.
  9. Ever since I missed out on the VF-25S and -25G, I decided to just sit back and wait until these get reissued in larger batches than to go through the stress of hunting these down.
  10. True, and the fact that I don't even remember much about the ending is probably proof enough. Tiz's death was kind of pointless, TBH.
  11. You're right. The pic doesn't really bring out the silver paint on the fig; if I'd noticed the silver paint apps and chrome chest visors, I'd have realized it was Buster Prime. Somehow I actually failed to notice his non-mouthplate face scupt.
  12. I see. The fists seem to have been swapped with articulated hands, and the lack of a faction symbol threw me off a little. Damn, those KO's look ridiculously large next to the legit figures. I hear they're not exactly cheap either. Would have been awesome if they were cheap; they'd make great display pieces with some metallic paint and detailing.
  13. Okay, I'm a little confused by that pic above. All three of them look like diferent sizes of KO Optimii(?) since none of them sport an Autobot symbol, but the "blinged-out" one on the right looks kind of legit. Is that the Caliber diecast statue? The small one in the middle looks pretty damn good, though.
  14. Thanks for the info! Now I just have to find a place that sells SATA drives. BTW, just finished my second playthrough of Metal Gear Rising, the first playthrough which took about 10-15 hours or so, NOT counting cutscenes. - Collected all ID chips.- Found all MIB's. - Unlocked Armor Breaker. - Unlocked wooden longsword and HF machete. - Unlocked Wig A and Wig B. - Completely leveled up skills, life and BP gauges. Overall, a very addictive game, and much more than your regular hack-n-slash. The Zandatsu system adds a certain depth to the gameplay that DW games and even Tenchu doesn't quite equal. The story, while convoluted, doesn't distract you from what's important: hacking limbs and grabbing "nano-repair clusters" from the enemies' guts. I'd say it's just the right length for a game of its genre, and VR missions is a welcome feature, adding tons of replay value, not to mention unlockables, trophies, harder difficulties and numerous Easter eggs. To anyone who's still on the fence about getting this game; go buy it, you won't regret it.
  15. As awesome as a 40cm DOTM Megatron is, I've no use for it if doesn't scale in with ROTF leader class OP. The head sculpt looks over simplified, too. EDIT: Just skipped to the last page, and it looks like he IS in scale with ROTF LC OP. Did they downscale him a bit since that first pic was taken? MP-10 Optimus stands only up to crotch height in that first pic.
  16. I think it's a good decision, though. Better to end a series at the height of its popularity than to drag it along until it outstays its welcome. Things inevitably get stale after a while, so it's better to end it and start a new project. Of course, there's no guarantee that a new show will be as well-received, but if they keep up with what they've been doing for TFP, then it should be interesting to see how it turns out.
  17. Thanks for the link. Well, I guess that makes him at 100% must-buy. All six modes look decent (gun and wolf modes, as expected, are a little rough), bot mode proportions are good, he's got a pair of swords, and even ball-joints on his hands to use those swords! And he's actually taller than MP-10, if you count his shoulders! Never expected the hobby store to bring in a 3rd party toy so suddenly, but I'm glad they did. Hopefully they'll bring in not-Menasor, too. Looks awesome, although like everyone else said, Car Crash and T-Bone act more as shin guards than actual legs. And the way not-Motormaster converts to combine with his fellow Stunticons, I'm a little concerned about his bot mode's articulation and proportions.
  18. Is Mastermind's Not-Sixshot aka Terminus Hexatron worth getting? My local hobby store just opened pre-orders for him, and he looks kind of cool. He's about the same price as a Yamato 1/60 VF-1. I haven't been able to find any good pics of him, but he looks pretty articulated in bot mode. Couldn;t get a good look at wolf mode, though.
  19. The latest news has it that, and I quote Jim Ryan of Sony, "the primary delivery mechanism for the big games on the PS4 platform will continue to be Blu-Ray discs, for the foreseeable future." Quoting the IGN article: What counts as the forseeable future? Five years? "That sort of horizon, yes," Ryan agrees. The reasoning behind this is that PS4 games will take up so much space that in many parts of the world, downloading them just won't be realistic. "For our big first-party games, we’ve encouraged the studios to make as much use of the BD50 [50-gigabyte Blu-Ray drive] as they possibly can – some of these things run to like 45 gigs," he says. Again quoting Sony's Jim Ryan: ""If you go down to Southern Europe, where we have very big and important businesses, it can take you 3 days over a standard internet connection to download a file of the size, and that’s not fun. There are certain gating factors in terms of internet infrastructure that mandate that the disc-based solution is going to be the primary delivery mechanism for the foreseeable future." Which is a major relief for me, because my monthly download quota's only about 20 GB. That'd take me like over two months to download a single game, and that's IF the game even allows for partial download resumes. That said, the PS4 will still be pushing further towards digital downloads, but it's more for cheaper or free-to-play games, or subscription ones. Link is here.
  20. FINALLY collected my Super parts from the hobby store. Can't wait to arm Hikaru's DYRL VF-1S with it.
  21. That's about as close to a "perfect VF-25 build" as it gets.
  22. Been watching Chihayafuru. At first I thought it was just some soppy love story, but it turned out to be kind of interesting. There's still the obligatory love triangle thing, but the introduction to the karuta card games is amusing, if nothing else.
  23. Well, if it's just a simple matter of downloading an update onto a flash drive and installing it, then I'm willing to try it myself. BTW, what type of HDD does the PS3 use? I'm guessing the slimmer laptop type. BTW, I bought MGR yesterday, and while I still don;t know how long the game lasts, it's definitely a great game as far as gameplay is concerned. Slicing sh!t up was never this fun. The GEKKO's are a bit of a pain if you're not very familiar with parrying, and the camera angles aren't helping either. Anyways, I'm pretty sure this is going to be my next Fall of Cybertron. Short campaign mode, but awesome replay value.
  24. Good thing I only airbrush Tamiya acrylics with my spray booth. All rattle cans are sprayed outside. I do wear a mask, but the generic dust mask type. Respirators are ridiculously hard to find locally. If only HLJ or AmiAmi sold these.
  25. Is that booth good enough for rattle cans? Mine's only strong enough for airbrushing; then again, it's not even an actual spray booth.
