Just binged the entire Visions S2....like S1, more disposable entertainment... definitely worth a watch, but I can't imagine I would ever need a second viewing...but I also feel the same way about every other Star Wars Disney+ series...

Guess that depends if you had a fool's hope that the HG-BW deal would actually have any impact on global distribution and pricing of Macross merch... The fact that select Macross merch is freely being sold outside Japan....months after it's actual Japanese release date....means they are coming here via the slowest boats from China....so how does that tack on an extra 50usd per item? Who here is selecting boat shipping for their Japan retailer purchases and paying 50usd per item?
-
I'll still try and support...but it now seems apparent that when a retailer does happen to have a competitive price...it's only because they are just willing to make less profit on it....probably just to try and get some future business... I don't collect much else beyond Macross...but are they doing the same thing with their other product lines that are allowed to be sold outside of Japan? Same type of import markups?
-
It seems all the big HG/BW deal did was to legitimize the upcharge to overseas customers via "legit" sales at local retailers...there is no reason to support the WWM campaign locally if you can still just get your Macross direct from Japan for less...Bandai isn't even trying to hide the fact that they are selling above their own listed MSRP...
-
ouch! I'll wait to see if some other retailers offers it for less..or at least no tax or shipping
-
But what if you would like to watch a live-action SDFM...based on SDFM mecha and characters? Perhaps we just wait until someone just creates one via AI-generated visuals for fun...
-
HG should just ditch the "Robotech" story and just release it as an anthology....the "Macross Saga" would then just be entirely based on the original story presented in SDFM....perhaps just keeping the "Robotech" character and mecha names....Southern Cross and Mospeada can branch out into their own thing or just die out.... BW says they would not stand in the way of a "Robotech" movie...so would that mean a "Robotech" as we now it...or a rebooted Robotech true to the original Japanese storylines?

Even with a 10% tax...the MSRP would be at most 113 USD at current exchange rates...was hoping that Bandai would not have imposed the "import" tax on merch for sale at their own show....so yeah...F U Bandai! Thankfully this wasn't some ultra-exclusive SDFM/DYRL item... https://tamashiiweb.com/item/14337/

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
jvmacross replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Who knows....all the suits the Mandos wear seem to be custom built...which would seem to require a custom jet-pack.... I'm sure it'll get explained in some future Star Wars reference book!...- 1438 replies

...and speaking of jet-packs...how did the jet-pack Din took off one of the dead manda-troopers fit perfectly onto his own armor? Is there some Galactic bureau that enforces the standardization of Jet-pack armor connectors?- 1438 replies

So will Bandai really only sell this at the pop-up shops? Or is this just being temporarily sold at these events and then will be sold online or via retailers afterwards? If it truly will only be available at the events, what is the strategy to getting one? Buy one as soon as you see them on eBay...or wait until the final stop of the current Tamashii "world" tour? I figure by then the secondary market price will stabilize as most that couldn't wait to get their hands on one would have paid top dollar up until the last event/availability for purchase.... I figure the cost before the "finder's fee" and including shipping from NY to the CONUS is about $120-125....and about $135-145 if you had this shipped from a Japanese online retailer/proxy.... Personally, I'd say between $150-170 shipped from US is fair for it...thoughts? Oh and before I forget...F U Bandai! Way to keep the WWM "good vibes" going by artifically creating demand for your Macross products and crapping on one of the good reasons for introducing WWM....you know...to get stuff easily straight from non-Japanese retailers?

I hope they tone down the heavy panel lining, it reminds me of KC's first VF-1S V 1.0 release...but they got better, at least in terms of the panel lining, with further releases....will still give it a shot...at this point it just has to be slightly better than KC's 1/72 VF-1
