In a previous issue of this 80-issue series by DeAgonstini? No. But it was featured in the first 50-issue run of the Chronicle published by We've Inc. Issue #29.

For better or worse, the film industry (at least the American studio industry) is predisposed against artistry and primarily motivated to produce profit/entertainment. The mainstream audience is also predisposed against film art and only a minority actually want to see it. The only time the mainstream audience see art on film is either via independently financed films that find popularity, a production team that convinces/negotiates/manipulates/intimidates the big studios to allow their artistic vision or those rare instances when a studio's goals and the artist's goal just happen to align. IMO, blaming artists for bad films in a system that already stifles most art (and an audience that mostly don't care) is akin to blaming the victim.

Definitely worth a look. Though I hope they concentrate more upon the work that was done and what they envisioned instead of how the project fell apart. I watched a similar subject of documentary once titled "Lost in La Mancha" about Terry Gilliam's doomed film adaptation of Don Quixote; it was the most depressing movie I think I've ever seen

Totally agree about the film and the epic fight sequence. A fine choice.

A very interesting analysis. I have't looked at the Yamato toy, so I never noticed the differences. The on-screen animation isn't likely to be a Super version of the VEFR-1, since the animated VE-1 matches the official VE-1 colors, the wings are not the VEFR-1 style with the added sensor packages on the leading edges/wing tips and the surveillance pod is nowhere to be found. More likely, the VE-1 was animated for DYRL while the design was still being finalized, which happens often in animation productions. The VE-1 is also not an exhaustively profiled variant of the Valkyrie; very little animation or line art exists for it at all. So it makes sense that some aspects of the design may be pliable. It's interesting that the VE-1 line art includes that VT-1 Ostrich-style booster on top of the standard backpack thruster pack. Like you say, it's not there in the animation, so I wonder why it was added. But then the same can be said of the conformal tank designs and the missing antennae. Perhaps the VT-1 Super Ostrich and the VE-1 ELINT Seeker were being designed at the same time and it was eventually decided the "additional backpack booster" was to be a standard part of the DYRL non-combat Super Valkyries.

Strange choice for a marquee painting. There were many other, better options to paint before that design, but I suppose we take what we can get.

There's been no distinction between "range in the atmosphere" and "range in space" for the HWR Monster's weapons. Official trivia states a 160 kilometer (100 mile) range for the 4 x Viggers 40cm liquid-cooled cannons along the top of the Destroid and a 300+ kilometer (186 mile) range for the 2 x Raitheon LSSN-20G 3-barrel ground-to-ground missile launchers on the arms.

Was never impressed by the output of CM Corporation. The blog reviews of the CM products were always really critical of what they made. I pretty much avoided CM because of the bad word of mouth. So this seems like chickens coming home to roost as it were As far as predictions about the end for the world because kids don't play with toys, I think Harrelson's Martin Hart character from True Detective said it best: "You know, throughout history, I bet every old man probably said the world keeps getting worse. Yet old men die, and somehow the world keeps on spinning."

Real World Technical References of Macross Variable Aircraft
Mr March replied to charger69's topic in Movies and TV Series
I initially thought the Beatrice was a variation of the Stryker Mobile Gun, but I was informed by another Macross fan a year or so back that the Beatrice most closely resembles the Italian B1 Centauro tank destroyer. The Beatrice's armament is similar and the appearance of the Beatrice matches the Centauro more than most other wheeled LAVs or Tank Destroyers I've seen, right down to details like the ports and features like the angular armor on the forward section of the main turret.- 278 replies

Real World Technical References of Macross Variable Aircraft

Oh yeah, that is definitely a major influence on the Durandal. Great color scheme. Now that I'm getting close to owning proper high res scans and finalized many colored versions of all the Valkyrie line art, I'd love to dive into some custom work using some of these schemes like the YF-16. Or maybe even color the VF-1A Valkyrie using the YF-29 Durandal colors, kinda like Macross The First- 278 replies

Interesting interpretation. It almost feels like the Battroid design was influenced by Nagano's Five Star Stories work.

Ah I see now. It was so dark I couldn't see the weathering. Yeah, I think both clean and weathered/worn is the way to go. More choice is always better.

I actually do like the scratches and wear on your model. However, true to my own habits, I'd love to see both a clean and "damaged" versions. Just a thought; you said you're not sure about the wear, but I think it would look better if the wear was also accompanied with weathering. I would think the two kinda go hand-in-hand, which may be why the wear on it's own looks odd to you. Regardless of what you decide, this is astonishing work. The best YF-21 model I've ever seen.

It's the FL-200 Mistral. I've never found any finished black and white or color line art for the design, only the pictures you posted above in some of my Macross art books.

I'd have to say that where Basara and Ray lives is by far the least annoying thing about their characters But more "seriously", the Akusho/Acshio could be interpreted as parody just because of the absurdity of the situation. The "uncompromising rebel" or "starving artist" are well known tropes that perhaps are being mocked via this setting in Macross 7.

The pictures on my website do show the Akusho/Acshio section of the Macross 7. The main colored art I did depicts the Akusho/Acshio in red on the Port side of the ship: http://www.macross2.net/m3/macross7/newmacross/city7.gif Then I have some detailed black and white line art of the craft as well: http://www.macross2.net/m3/macross7/newmacross/city7-akusho.gif I've never actually been able to determine if the Akusho/Acshio is included with the defensive "shell" of City 7. Logic would suggest that as a after-thought addition to the City 7 spacecraft the Akusho/Acshio would NOT be included within the defensive shell. And it makes sense given the living conditions inside the thing. Ironically, I've also been unable to decide if the Akusho/Acshio is a clever way to rationalize why there would be a slum in a controlled artificial system like City 7 or just a really lame justification for a non-reclaimed urban environment to set Fire Bomber up as some struggling artists slumming it for real rock legitimacy

Dude, this has turned out amazing. The detail and design looks so cool. It feels real, yet sci-fi at the same time. And the helmet is beyond awesome! Btw, you also look good in the costume. I don't mean to offend anyone, but it's always nice to see cosplay by someone that isn't horribly overweight. Helps suspension of disbelief

Valkyrie Addict's Little Shop of Horrors
Mr March replied to Valkyrie addict's topic in The Workshop!
Excellent! Not much to it, but the colors go back to the simple brilliance of the original Valkyrie colors. I'm kinda ashamed that I never thought of this color scheme before. It's just right there in front of the nose, but never saw it until your custom. Amazing work! -
But those wing missile pods are mentioned in the trivia separately from the "additional micro-missile pods" already. So both pieces of trivia cannot (should not?) be referring to the same thing. But again, it's not specific enough either way.

Official trivia for the Tornado Pack lists "Additional Micro-Missile pods for use in outer-space" in addition to the wing micro-missile pods but they don't specifically indicate where these "additional pods" are mounted. I suppose they could be the leg packs.
