Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread
Mr March replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The so called "breakthrough" the military made in A.I. was the installation of the bio-neural chip in the Ghost fighter, an illegal technology. Marj Gueldoa of the Macross Consortium and Captain Higgins of the UNS were in league with each other and kept things as secret as they could when they were speaking in mixed company (in front of a very worried Reymond Marley). This also leads into the earlier dismissal of the "live ammunition" incident by none other than General Gomez. Gomez knew the X-9 Ghost development was imminent, so he let the Super Nova AVF continue and the pilots go unpunished, since whatever they did was ultimately irrelevant. The Super Nova project would eventually be scrapped, so he let them all fumble about unknowingly. They could only guess what his motive were (as Guld asked Millard), until the Ghost was finally revealed and Super Nova was canceled. -
It could be, but I'm not convinced without knowing the context of the photo. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's multiple Batmen. Guess I'll just have to wait.

They look like stunt suits to me. I'm sticking with that.

Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread

Stopping the illegally implanted bio-neural chip in a military fighter, exposing the illegal activities of a high ranking UN military general and captain, preventing the SDF-1 Macross from being stolen, saving the Planet Earth from being mind controlled by a rogue, illegally operating AI and is responsible for the ONLY positive outcome in the entire "Sharon Apple Incident." There is no way such a blatantly public internal security failure would stem the tide of a witch hunt WITHOUT a hero to help save face for the military. Public outcry for the Sharon Apple Incident is pointed straight at those responsible for Sharon Apple and the Ghost fighter, being General Gomez, Captain Higgins and the Macross Consortium. And thanks to Sharon Apple directly mind controlling every citizen of Macross City, they all KNOW she/it was responsible, not Isamu. So blaming him or creating some elaborate whitewash wouldn't save the UNG or the UN Forces. Again, whatever Isamu's initial intentions, no jury would convict him...if it even got that far. And his intentions are ultimately irrelevant given that Sharon Apple and the Ghost fighter were both illegal activities from the start. Even though Isamu was unaware of the bio-neural plot, luck was on his side when the whole event played out. Like he said, luck is one of his skills At best Isamu is pardoned of all crimes and serves out his days in the military away from the public spotlight. At worst Isamu is quietly shown the door from the military, but never sees the inside of any court room. -
Now that I've considered, it makes sense that the Megaroad and City ships would become the first major center of any colony and would thus be designed as one-way-only vessels. This is especially helpful to suspend our disbelief that many of these early colonies grew so fast so quickly. If each colony started with a major urban center that would give them a huge economic and industrial base to grow very quickly especially with a large population like 100,000+. Such colonies would grow much faster than a few hundred people dumped on some planet in a tiny installation

Given the end result, there's no way any jury would convict Isamu, unless you stacked it with Protodeviln. -
Yeah, the world is just full of those. Like ASS-1

The Macross Compendium makes mention that Uraga Class Escort Battle Carriers command small fleets. This information is also repeated in my own entry on the Macross Mecha Manual: Uraga CLass Escort Battle Carrier

Yes, I've thought this may have been a possibility as well. You can also fit a lot more humans onboard a Zentradi ship

Arguements aside, I do really appreciate all of your posts. I want to be well informed if I decide to Purchase the VF-0A Shin. I don't want any shoulder issues. I'm glad you guys are helping me out. And those with dissenting opinions have a right to be concerned. The VF-0 has been out for a long time and I've steered clear all this time. I won't buy one until I'm sure the product is worthwhile. If Yamato continues to produce a lousy VF-0, that's their problem. I won't make it mine, no matter how much I want one. And I do want one...real bad, but it has to work. The VF-0 is one of the best, most accurate anime-to-product transformables in the entire franchise, IMO. I'd love to own one.

They're just stuntment, fellas. Thanks for the link to new pictures. Looking good!

All really good answers. I kinda like mikeszekely/keith's answers for simplicity. One or two Megaroads up to 30 and then the New Macross Class ships up to 7. But Roy and Knight26 responses makes for some good argument. It's possible a lot of the Zentradi ships could be modified for carrying colonists. Many of those ships are much larger than the SDF-1 Macross and other such vessels. Multiple trips sounds good too. Like an interstellar railway

I don't think there's anything to read into, concering the ages of the characters I mean. I think it's just a clever way for the creators of Macross to denote passage of time. I find myself curious about the characters again after seeing each age listed. Particularly Isamu and Myung from Macross Plus and Gamlin from Macross 7. I wonder how they turned out. Isamu is maybe retiring from the UN Spacy about now. Maybe Myung is having a producing renaissiance, probably promoting the next big thing in popular music. Or perhaps things went downhill for Isamu; maybe he's on his third marriage or something. And as messed up as Myung is, it wouldn't be a stretch to see her in an abusive relationship with some Zentradi fella I can't see Gamlin married to Mylene. Yes, he grew as a person with Mylene and she mellowed him, but they have zero in common. My guess is Gamlin might have married an older woman; latent sexual attraction for a professional female, something he would have experienced during his formative years under Milia. I mean, who wouldn't? Perhaps he became a captain or even a flight center trainer like Milia. Or maybe he met his end, shot down by friendly fire in a training accident in orbit of some new colony. -
So, I'm working on profiles for both the Megaroad-01 (new COLOR picture in the next update!) and the New Macross Class ships (gonna be schweeet!). Then it hits me: There were 13 ships of the Megaroad Class constructed There were 13 ships of the New Macross Class constructed So where, when and what were these other 11 colonization fleets?

Yeah, I'm only a casual collector when it comes to toys. VERY casual. I own less than a dozen all things told. I've only got two Yammies (VF-1J and VF-1S) plus an assortment of other stuff like the Aoshima Dropship, an MG Gundam, some Clone Troopers, et cetera. And I like to keep my collection that way; small and worthwhile to me. So if I'm going to purchase something, it's usually just a single item. Well, this is good news. Hopefully we can get a few other positive confirmations.

No offense, but I'm sure not putting out the money for the cost of a transformable toy just to leave the thing in fighter mode. I guess I'll keep reading and waiting. Money will go towards the YF-19 for now.

Is the "official" VF-11 side drawing really off?
Mr March replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Fan Works
They are somewhat canon From the Macross Compendium entry on the VF-11 Thunderbolt: Leg weapon bays are not part of the official specifications for the standard VF-11 Thunderbolt. According to Shoji Kawamori's design works notes, the animators in Macross 7 episode used a draft design of his that was not originally drawn for use in Macross 7. (Shoji Kawamori did make leg weapon bays part of the official specifications for the VF-11MAXL variant.) -
So what's the verdict? I've been waiting for a long time to see if Yamato would fix the 1/60 VF-0 shoulders. I'm not buying one until they do. So, is there a version produced yet that is safe to buy with decent shoulders?

Wow. The spin doctors of the empire are even better than the ones we have today

This is all I got: I apologize for the small size and low quality of the scan. It's not mine I'm hoping to soon obtain some better, higher resolution scans. -

Everyone has their dislikes. You can't avoid them; that's life. There are some women that would be considered physically beautiful by any standard, but for one reason or another, some feature sets off the wrong reaction in others. It could be as complicated as a childhood thing or something as simple disliking a certain type of nose Personally, I rarely dislike most "Hollywood-flavors" on the basis of their face. I just really don't like starving thin women. If I have a negative opinion of the latest Hollywood hard-on, nine times out of ten it's because she's too damned thin because most of those girls are. I'm the kind of guy who would have been right at home with the 50's starlets. I also find a very broad range of different women attractive. I know most people don't even seem to give much thought outside their own ethnic group, unless they see Halle Barry, Jennifer Lopez or Ziyi Zhang. Hollywood generally seeks out only a very limited range of feminine beauty types, though I acknowledge exceptions do occur. So I don't find it odd that more than a few faces on film are just not working for me. On the other hand, among all my buddies I seem to be the minority in both the above respects, so perhaps your theory does carry some weight as a catch-all philosophy -
Oh, I see. I honestly couldn't tell. I looked over the only two angles they show of the drone VF-11 and couldn't determine if the cannon was removed. I'll give it another look. If the cannon is indeed missing for sure, it should be easy enough to fix it.

1/48 VF-1J. But that might change if I ever own the new YF-19 or YF-21
