Exactly this.

Well said @M'Kyuun.

UPDATE! - I'm about half way through season 1 and so far, well, it's not all bad I suppose. Two main thoughts so far -- everyone in this show is SO ANGRY-- and two is this, as others have said, it's just NOT Star Trek, if you look at it as NOT a Star Trek show and just generic Sci-Fi, it's almost passable some of the time. Characters are not developed well at all other than the Burnham, who I dislike very much. The alien warp jump thing is just not my cup of tea. There are some characters and episodes that I do like. The captain, the guy he found in the prison, the new security chief guy, the red head, she's alright. I don't like Saru at all, he's just annoying. I think my favorite episode so far is the Harry Mudd time loop one, obviously a rip off of TNG's time loop but meh, whatevs. The production value of the show is impressive. All the space stuff looks really good, I'm just not a fan of the designs. The main thing with Disco is this, turn OFF your brain if you are going to partake. And finally, not to get political here, but it's certainly very wokety woke woke. I am looking forward to getting to Anson Mount's Pike and Spock stuff.

So what happened was.....I've had this kit for years, it's been cleaned properly, primed, painted, then sanding back as the light grey went down rough. So..this morning I was ready to re-prime and move forward with a fun "Dazzle" Camo grey paint job as discussed a few pages back. I was out of Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and my one hobby shop locally is out as is everywhere on line. I did have Tamiya Liquid surface primer in white. Ok, fine, so I thinned it 50/50 with lacquer thinner and went to spraying. That was working laying down fine, but taking forever to cover, I'd forgotten resin takes sooooo many more coats of things. So ok, I whipped out the spray can of High Build Black Primer I used to light block the runabout a couple of weekends ago remembering how great and smooth it laid down. Great! Outdoor temp check -- 65 degrees. Humidity, a bit high but whatever, it's north TX. Let's do this! Not 30 seconds after I applied the spray primer to the model I knew I was screwed. It started cracking like shattered glass. Looked kinda cool honestly, wished I taken a picture. I believe what happened is this. When I airbrushed the Tamiya Primer with the lacquer thinner, it made the resin very cold. It does make the airbrush cold. Something in the thinner, feels cold on your skin as well, I'm not a chemist so I can't tell you why. What I can tell you is it cooled the resin down enough so the black spray primer cracked when it went to dry immediately after I applied it. It's the same thing that happened on my Enterprise D engine paint that one cold morning. It was fine in the garage, but when I opened the garage door and the cool air came in, the paint spiderwebbed. Dammit. 3 hours of time wasted this morning on what should have been a 10 minute re-prime IF I had my good old Tamiya Fine Surface Primer (Grey) in a spray can. Curses...

Don't you just LOVE when a simple early Sunday morning re-prime turns into a f*ckin nightmare. I'm forever done with resin kits. This one is gonna be the death of me. Back down to the resin we go, if I can, if I can't, it's gonna go in the trash.

Knowing Bandai, the Roy and Max GBP will NEVER see the light of day again....anyone wanna place a wager?

I might be in for a 1D -- if it's a TWE item.

Agreed. When they do a good size tv SDF-1 they will become the new messiah of Macross Models!
-
OMG! That is a fantastic looking scout! Amazing work!!! One of my favorite Macross designs! BRAVO!

You are correct. Tamiya slaps their name on the Olfa hobby stuff and jacks up the price. Today I made a center console for the Runabout cockpit so it matches the later seasons of DS9. Next I need to construct a standing center console to go about halfway back in the cockpit and also construct the transporter. Stay tuned!

Ok, weeelll....my boss gave me his CBS login, so last night I started Discovery. Watched the first two episodes. I figure for free, I'll slog through this and see what all the fuss, good or bad is all about.

I think we all miss the Yamato days of monthly $100ish dollar Valks that were super easy...dare I say...enjoyable....to actually buy. The last few years have sucked every bit of fun out of this hobby for me. The decline in the HM-R line, the ridiculous prices of Arcadia and most of all excruciating Bandai pre-order BS. I don't even try anymore. I'm really glad I bought a lot of stuff from about 2008-2016.

Since I was at Home Depot anyway, I picked up a can of Aluminum Metallic RustOLeum and hit the engine parts so the light will bounce around inside theoretically.. Also primed and painted both the rear cabin and cockpit bulkheads. Stay tuned!

Kitz Concept Toy Thread 2.0

Yeh..I hear you, and I'm one of those people who has both Roy and Dana on pre-order. Gonna have to be super careful with these now on, not that I'm going to play with this things, but still it would nice if they could stand up better on their own. They are so tall and thin they fall over if you look at them wrong. Well I got humpty dumptys arm drilled and pinned and put back together this morning, but I did lose some range of movement at the elbow. Oh well, he's now in my main Macross case behind glass and that's where he'll stay.- 2484 replies

Weeelll.. F*ck.. So this happened today. Rickaru took a header off the top of a Detolf and instead of the carpet he went sideways into tile. Snap. Any ideas? I know these are fairly fragile figures and no where near Black Series figures quality, but dang, one fall? Kinda sux! Guess tomorrow I'll try the old drill and pin approach. Don't see another option if I want to maintain movement...- 2484 replies
