Power of the Daleks is being shown in the US on BBC America on the 19th! Always wanted to see this one. Sadly they had to recreate some footage using animation (which looks a bit dodgy but actually fits the old Dr Who look quite well). Also getting shown in theaters via Fathom Events (that will be a few days earlier). http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2016/09/bbc-america-brings-destroyed-doctor-who-episodes-back-to-life

Yes, there should be more news than Show runner quits and no cast yet by now. My guess is the lackluster showing for "Beyond" put the show on hiatus and no decision has been formally made to continue or not.

Give it some time. The group will need to get stuck in a trap so they will do something VERY stupid and VERY out of character in order to make it happen.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It may not be fair, since I'm going to rate this movie simply by the title BUT any action movie titled "The Accountant" is just a disaster waiting to happen.- 854 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Dynaman replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm watching Aldnoah Zero, off and on. The show is really not grabbing my attention but it is good enough to catch an episode every so often. I do want to catch some of the Gundam stuff being released. -

Doesn't Jean Grey live in the new timeline? If so he has no reason to go off all grumpy and moody and hence no reason to end up losing his claws. -
I'll have to give Westworld a shot. However, popped in to say that Based on "The Expanse" I picked up the first book in the series and I'm really liking it. I'll probably have read the whole series by the time the show is back in January (and I'll be watching that too - best thing on SyFy since BSG)

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't remember Hollywood EVER getting computer interactions and capabilities correct. (I was going to give the most egregious examples but my brain exploded trying to think of the worst ones...). Ask any professional about how Hollywood depicts their specialty and they say the same thing - which make me wonder how well the movies ABOUT Hollywood depict things...- 508 replies

Better is just watching the movie. Which for the first two Terminators (and I argue the third) is the way to go. Onto an older bit in this thread - is there still another Terminator movie in the works?- 508 replies

I saw a commercial for this finally, is Chris Pratt playing the Yul Brenner role? If so he just did not pull it off (from the commercial that I saw). On my list to see when it gets to video.- 33 replies

After catching 5 minutes or so of the first teaser thingy for this I have no interest in it. Totally messed up the character in that time. I'll keep checking posts to see if it gets anywhere near the original in terms of characterization.

I loved it from start to finish. Personally I think they showed just enough each episode. Knowing the "Monster" before the end is ok since there was more interesting things going on to find out at the end. I was more interested in the character bits and the twists that were done with the standard formula for a show of this type.
