    I have no idea how accurate this site is but it says she will play the Captain and not the lead. So much for Canon on the show.     I don't, since it is a good issue to go with from the original series not being able to live up to it's full potential. It was more than just that last episode, Number 1 was supposed to be a woman in the original pilot but had to be taken out to make it on the air, ironic for a show that preached equality (granted, Gene Rodenberry tried but was shot down). Running through the theme of breaking down that barrier from the original series would make a great story arch for the show - with good writing of course, bad writing and it will be a death sentence.

    She is in very good shape for a woman in her fifties. That last pic however - she does not look like she is in her thirties, which is where a commander should be age wise, any older and they get drummed out of the service. One of those is from her Bond movie which was 20 years ago now. It could be Star Fleet at that time does not follow the "Up or Out" mentality of armed forces today. Sure hope the character is NOT any relation to a known ST character, I hate that kind of thing. Then again, I'm not paying for another online service to watch it anyway so hopefully it ends up on Netflix or Amazon Prime sometime after release on CBS.

    I don't see how she could be the lead, she is older than I am and the character is supposed to be a second in command. Captains might be my age but a first officer my age is on there way out to pasture. Then again maybe the show is about women breaking that "not allowed to captain a starship" glass ceiling mentioned in TOS or they are purposely breaking the Hollywood mold for age discrimination against women. (An example of that would be "The Graduate" where Dustin Hoffman was only five years younger than Anne Bancroft but he played a recent college graduate and she played the mother of a character his age)

    After last season people are still expecting good writing on this show?

    That reminds me, nearly time for the Annual viewing of "The Star Wars Holiday Special" (Rifftrax version of course!)

    Even more important is it cuts down on the number of extras required. I've heard the "stops blasters" bit too - just never seen it happen in the movies.

    Of course! Why else would Storm Troopers wear armor that doesn't stop anything - including small rocks thrown by teddy bears?

    Bad trailer but might be a good film. If the trailer were an FX highlight reel it would be good - but as a hook for watching a movie it left me not caring at all.

    Everyone must have seen a different Torchwood than me. It was great up till that that last season done with US participation - that was just off.

    Power of the Daleks is being shown in the US on BBC America on the 19th! Always wanted to see this one. Sadly they had to recreate some footage using animation (which looks a bit dodgy but actually fits the old Dr Who look quite well).     Yes, there should be more news than Show runner quits and no cast yet by now. My guess is the lackluster showing for "Beyond" put the show on hiatus and no decision has been formally made to continue or not.

    Give it some time. The group will need to get stuck in a trap so they will do something VERY stupid and VERY out of character in order to make it happen.

    It may not be fair, since I'm going to rate this movie simply by the title BUT any action movie titled "The Accountant" is just a disaster waiting to happen.

    I'm watching Aldnoah Zero, off and on. The show is really not grabbing my attention but it is good enough to catch an episode every so often. I do want to catch some of the Gundam stuff being released.

    Doesn't Jean Grey live in the new timeline? If so he has no reason to go off all grumpy and moody and hence no reason to end up losing his claws.

    I'll have to give Westworld a shot. However, popped in to say that Based on "The Expanse" I picked up the first book in the series and I'm really liking it. I'll probably have read the whole series by the time the show is back in January (and I'll be watching that too - best thing on SyFy since BSG)
