  1. Arthur C Clarke (I think) came up with the idea in the sixties or seventies. It has been around for a long time. The material science is only just getting into the hypothetical "we can see this happening" stage now but the idea has been around for a while.
  2. It looks like they dropped a bottle of Pepto Bismal all over it.
  3. Considering his resume I don't think he will care - this is his shot to direct a movie rather then just commercials.
  4. I really like that part of the original Yamato, the animation is very good - considering none of it would be used later in the series, and the US flier giving the Yamato a salute was a nice touch (in reality most of them probably gave it the equivalent of the finger while admitting it put up one hell of a fight before going under, but a nice touch none the less)
  5. Thanks to this thread I've started watching Orguss for the first time. The main character is a major switch from the Hikaru mindset, more like Focker really (only up to episode 2 so if things change I'll find out later).
  6. You kidding? the trailer was great! Too bad it was for a different movie...
  7. Having seen Brave I find it hard to believe it got an Oscar. I was VERY disappointed with that film. Wreck if Ralph is not out on Netflix yet, I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  8. I see Tom Servo and Crow T Robot doing there version...
  9. You CAN play steam games while offline. Going into setting and check the offline box. (After the initial game install of course, I used to do this all the time.)
  10. That reminds me, did Dr. Forrester get a mention yet? How about TV's Frank?
  11. You need to read the "concerning Harmony gold and robotech" thread pinned to the top of this forum for that.
  12. Yet another reason NOT to see this movie (altough another reason to avoid it was not needed, this might be a DVD rental and then again it probably won't be)
  13. Has Kevin Kline got a nod for his role in "A Fish Called Wanda"? "Don't call me stupid!"
  14. Not really enough information (cough, cough, price) for me to have any opinion yet. Then again, I have no intention of buying it no matter what the price (or the next Xbox, or the P.U., I mean the Wii U)
  15. The first time I saw the "D" at a convention I thought it was a badly done ship done by a fan, boy was I shocked when I saw it REALLY was the new Enterprise. I came to accept it after a while, but it is by far the WORST Enterprise ever (not only in looks, original E used to beat up everyone unless it got sucker punched - the Enterprise D got beat up by almost everyone)
  16. THAT is the sloweset moving Alien I have every seen. Sigh, I was so wanting to like this game.
  17. Yup, pushing it. First one was Yippee Kie Yay... All the rest were meh.
  18. Although completely forgettable some of them were almost decent. SS Doomtrooper was a hoot, and just the name "Mansquito" should be worth something.
  19. I thought the second film was going to be the battle with Smaug, and the third film filler between "The Hobbit" and LOTR. (and battle of five armies? I forget that part of the Hobbit, can't remember if I read it in the book or just heard about it elsewhere)
  20. To quote Inigo Montoya "I do not think that word means what you think it means..."
  21. The problem is that they have WAY too much going on at once, just like Star Trek they are going to end up flooding the market with too much - not every movie can have a top notch script and when pushing out 3 or 4 into the production pipeline at once, well, some are going to suffer. I seriously doubt they are going to make use of the oppurtunity, the bland nature of the proposed spinoff films is enough for me to not be hopeful. (An old republic movie, or something NOT directly related to any existing character would have been interesting)
  22. Syfy's way of killing things before they ever see the light of day.
