  1. Reddsun - the second picture is not showing up.
  2. Anyone else seen the pilot for this one. Watched it last night and will keep watching, if I don't forget or have laundry to do... Not terrible but not great. Supposedly a follow up to the movie "Legion", but I have never seen that movie so can't compare - though I plan to put it on my Netflix queue. Basically God goes away and the Angels start a war on Earth, the show picks up 25 (?) years later.
  3. Saw this and "The Grove Tube" together, two awesome (and awesomely bad in a good way) movies!
  4. The Island wasn't bad, it wasn't good (and it was a ripoff of "Parts: The Clonus Horror" except Island had a budget) but I have seen far worse. Pearl Harbor, if you ignore history, is decent - and it has Kate Beckinsale, and I could watch her in Underworld and like it (especially the second one...)
  5. Avatar is what you get when you recycle every plot available and mix in stunning camera and FX work. It and Gravity are the only reason 3D should exist. Avatar was a great ride the first time and due to the FX and camera work it holds up reasonably well on repeated viewings (even without 3d) but the plot and characters are as cliche as cliche can be.
  6. I never knew he did all those other voices, Shaggy alone was enough to put the man on my list of sadly missed talent.
  7. Check that Safe thing (was it open the first time we see it?) This movie will be ending up in my Blu-Ray collection but that is a while to wait in order to answer that question.
  8. I hated Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and Cocktail - I was happy when Cruise ended his "Competition movie" phase. The rest of his stuff I like. War of the Worlds is a good one, it takes guts to play an un-likeable jerk. "Born on the Fourth of July" proved the man had acting talent, along with "Rain Man". I even liked him in "Far and Away" which was a middling movie at best. It is sad that this movie did so poorly and that Transformers has done so well, since all of the transformers films (other then the animated one from the eighties) was garbage.
  9. Agreed, but you need to do it fast since with that kind of opening it is not going to be around long.
  10. My one line review. Decent movie, characters had character, plot moved along fairly well, not too much or too little pew pew. It just lacked the spark of excellence. I don't remember any gotchas or plot holes so that is always a big bonus. We saw it at the local Imax, Nothing really stands out as needing the 3D or Imax effects though.
  11. Complete disagreement, he has characters running around and doing things for no reason - namely Aria and Tyrion (and lets not forget Dragon lady, and while I'm on it the whole sideshow with Dorn was/is filler too). Sure, he will come up with a reason for it in the end but it was not part of the original idea, he let himself get carried away with some "extras" he decided to tack on while writing. His saving grace is that for the most part it is still very good.
  12. Darn straight, when I saw the making of Titanic I was surprised to find out that the boat was a prop and the people were CGI (in the disaster crowd scenes! Not the main cast - that I know of). Also, in Babylon 5 The Lost Tales people were complaining about the horrible CGI - but the exact scene they were complaining about had no CGI in it, the set was a real set.
  13. At this point I don't really care if GRRM finishes the books or not. (Heresy I know). The series is doing an excellent job, in some ways better then the books - certainly when it comes to story pacing.
  14. The plot details I read had them going back (ala "Back to the Future; Part 2") to the original 2 or 3 movies and doing stuff in the background. Hopefully they pull it off better then BttF2 did.
  15. There is no dub, it is subtitled only. At least that I have seen, no audio channel option has appeared in the Netflix streaming menu.
  16. There was a full size Falcon set prop, might not have had a "back" end too it though. It was simply a shell however, to actually work as shown in the movies it would have needed to be a TARDIS.
  17. I'm watching "Attack on Titan" on Netflix. Up to episode 6 and liking it so far, I hope it does not fall apart at the end like some shows do.
  18. I have not read Stranger in a Strange Land but from what I have read ABOUT it the book seems to have been written by an entirely different person then the one who wrote SST. Stranger is on my bookshelf but just has not made it to the top (and most likely never will)
  19. If they don't have a big role then why even bother mentioning they have been cast? OK, Star Wars so every goon on screen for 10 seconds and has 1 line needs to be mentioned. Even with only 2 weeks filming done I still say anyone worth mentioning should have been cast long ago.
