  1. @peter And whose to say that there was no Musashi in the UNCF!? I think that's what they should have named the Ginga, but now you get to build an actual fighting ship!

As for battle damage, I think every now and then of doing that to one of my kits. Something like this...

  2. There was a post a few pages (and several years back) about attaching clear parts, most of which was already answered.

But this is for wingtip lights, whether kit-supplied or making your own to replace solid molded ones. For an example, the ones on Tamiya's 1/48 Ki-46 are molded solid, so you can either paint them silver and then clear red/green - or cut them out. And to replace them I use plexiglass. I bought a small sheet from my local hardware store for another purpose, but found that it doesn't fog at all with CA!

So, just cut out a few chunks, drill and paint to make the bulbs...

...and then glue them in place with your superglue.

After some sanding with finer and finer grit to polish, you end up with some nice wing tip lights!

Not a happy camper right now, as My VF-1J had paint peeling from several areas and from whatever crap our former upstairs neighbors' decided to smoke indoors ( the smoke seeping down into our apartment. I hate old buildings!)

So...it's strip and repaint time. I can print most of the decals (white mech red stripes with un spacy roundels and black nacelle un spacy log. Just need to figure out the white for the gunpod, or ask to see who's got a couple of white decals they can spare.

Was  trying to take a break...eh well.

    Former!? That's good news!

As to taking a break... Modellers are like gamblers without any 'Modeller's Anonymous.' There's no hope for us, thank god!:p

  4. I wonder if in the Macross universe, like the IDF, it is mandatory to serve a term in the service? After Earth was razed, I could easily imagine every surviving citizen having to a term in the military, at least until the civil unrest after the war finally eased up. And I could see that being carried over to the Immigration Fleets. With a finite population so far away from immediate assistance, they would want as many citizens as possible to be able to stand up and fill the gap made by combat losses. It would follow that students would have military trade schools as well.

A 1/1000 Yamato also ended up on my work bench.  These new Bandai kits are amazing to build.  They go together with hardly any effort, the detail is amazing, and the lighting.....its like they were engineered specifically for dummies like me who can barely like a Barbeque, let alone a model.

I know I don't have that mould of the kit! Definitely looks like it makes lighting a breeze.

  6. For scribing, I use dymo tape (LABEL MAKER'S TAPE) as a hard edge. And sometimes, Tamiya Tape for Curves is also good, as long as you just use it as a guide and not a hard-edge to press against. Also best, to not press into the plastic. Act like you are simply drawing a line on it. A light touch is a better touch.

  7. @derex3592 I envy your organizational skillz!! My work station is a pig sty...

@peter Thank you! I made some goofs on it, in which a second kit came in very handy!! I guess I'm glad to be some influence.

And that is a nice collection of parts, sure to be made into something quite cool.

@MechTech Your mech is coming into fine shape.

@505thAirborne Yes, a Mk XIV. It's the new Airfix kit, and I'm doing it as the second marking option, the all metal Race 80.

This happened yesterday during an airshow in Florida... Talk about your HOLY **** moments(especially for the poor guy that nearly got landed on)! Thankfully no one was hurt and the plane looks like it can still be salvaged and not be a total loss.

So, apparently the pilot here shouldn't be as honored as he is... According to this, the pilot had been warned during the flight that his plane was laying smoke. Rather than landing immediately, he decided to do another circuit of the air show, at which point is engine - now lacking oil - seized. So, entirely avoidable...
