I'll third, especially when the much smaller Legioss sets you back $500+, and yet, if their Legioss is a good judge of what's to come with their Tread, it stands to be the pinnacle of that design in a toy. That said, I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to put my Pose+ Legioss, big chunky thing that it is, let alone a Tread that will dwarf it. Too, not sure I want to spend around a grand for it, either. If I get a Tread eventually, it'll most likely be a Sentinel version to go with my Eta.

I agree, me too. And still, i wish Pose+ would release all the three variants of Legioss and Tread. I know, i have issues.😂

Importing Macross blu-rays from Japan
Seto Kaiba replied to KOG Water Dragon's topic in Movies and TV Series
Aside from any eccentricities specific to your preferred online storefront, the main thing you have to worry about is sticker shock from the cost of physical media and the cost of the international shipping. CDJapan has been my preferred store for a couple years now. I've generally had a very good, problem-free experience with them. I've typically used DHL or FedEx for international express shipment and that's been largely problem free for me aside from one or two delays in customs. Yes. Yeah, aside from I think one specific box set the Macross Frontier releases are Japanese-only while all the Macross Delta Blu-rays were cheekily given English subs in anticipation of them being purchased internationally in defiance of Harmony Gold's then-ongoing blockage of licensing outside Japan. Quite good, IMO. The movies, mainly. You've already covered Macross II and Macross Plus. The Macross 7 "Complete Fire" two-volume box set has all the Macross 7 supplemental material including the Macross Dynamite 7 OVA, Macross 7: the Galaxy is Calling Me! movie, the Macross 7 PLUS omakes, and the unbroadcasted episodes sometimes referred to as Macross 7 Encore. Macross FB7: Listen to My Song! is sold separately, and the Macross Frontier: the Labyrinth of Time is included with the blu-ray of the second Macross Delta movie. Macross Zero's available in the US already, so you don't have to worry about that one. - Today

OK. I'm trying to collect various Macross media on blu-ray. I got the Macross Plus Ultimate Edition from Crunchyroll. I will hopefully be getting the Macross Zero collection soon. I am signed up for the Macross II kickstarter and will get that when finally released. I just ordered the japanese DYRL 4K with english subtitles from Amazon. I was excited when they announced Macross Delta and Frontier getting officially released in the US. but that seems to have stumbled. So my question is, what is it like to order Delta and Frontier content as japanese release editions? They seem to all be region free so they will play OK on US region A players? And it looks like most Frontier media has no english subtitles, while most Delta content does? Is that fair to say? And how is the quality of the english subtitles on the japanese releases? And I'm not too familiar with the additional materials released outside the main TV series... can anyone tell me which additional blu rays would be recommended beyond the main series?

Initially, I figured this referenced the standard Eta, Iota, and Zeta versions, but yeah, it'd be cool if these initial. more imaginative, Legioss relaseses got Treads to match. I've yet to own a Tread, and with an Omega on PO, I may just have to indulge in one for it if the design isn't too far out there. Regarding the feet, I'm wondering if the heels and toes line up if you configure the heels for soldier, but splay the toe out as seen in diver mode. Best option if so. I'm just not at all crazy about the weirdly high arches of the feet as they've been depicted in most of the promo shots. If I have to keep them in diver config while in soldier mode, so be it. Shame they didn't go just that little extra in the design process to allow for clearance for the toe to move forward a tad more like the Sentinel or the Toynami, both of which did it beautifully, especially the Sentinel. That small additional arc of motion makes a big difference IMHO. Hard to believe the Toyrise figs are smaller than the already small Sentinel figs. I'm getting the sense that these will feel comparable to a voyager/leader class Transformers figs in-hand, which isn't a bad thing, especially if they have that level of sturdiness and playability. It also keeps them space-friendly for the space-impaired, like me.

I basically cannot stomach paying that much just to "have that annoying yellow spot on the roof removed". I see no other real improvements. (and the exhaust pipes are LESS shiny/chromelike now, they're not even silver paint) Though my biggest irritiation, is that with all that much time+budget from the pricepoint increase, they still didn't fix the fact that the front bumper doesn't stay down in place at all. It still basically "hovers" above and between the fenders. I spent hours carving/tweaking my copy, and while it's notably better, it's still not GOOD and will never really peg into place. "A car that doesn't look like it was in an accident with the bumper crushed in and up" is more important than a fishing pole...- 18233 replies

I am very toy-centric, so I am awaiting/hoping for a more toy-based recolor of the MMC/Ocular Max Devy. My last Devastator was G2. (yes, the actual G2).- 9504 replies

4 year old resurrection! Someone did a proper Haneda Special Edition version of the scene, neat!!
-
It's got a link to the Visit the TAMASHII NATIONS Store so I think it's official! But it still might get a Japan only release and not ship elsewhere but some do get through! I purchased an HMR Scopedog from amazon with the same link, and got it three days later.... So keep an eye out! 😉

While I feel that the new arms for Bonecrusher are an improvement I wonder why they didn’t design whole new arms that gave the toy a more contoured arm, where the upper and lower arms are not a continuous shape. (I know I know cartoon accuracy for the win but the balljoint and entire arm look atrocious)- 9504 replies

Even modern anime is very light on markings and they usually don’t exact all. Newer gundam shows and Macross or whatever, and you may be lucky to see an emblem. All that 3D cg stuff and it still isn’t there other than extremely rare cases. I don’t know if the new Votoms stuff will have much as far as markings or just go bare minimum

Votoms Plastic Model World will be held on the 15 of March. This will probably be when Wave will announce their next 1/24 AT, I hope Bandai also makes some announcements as well!

Likely true, but remember that anime in 1980's where drawn by hand so extra detailing or marking would be a lot of work! Since anime was also made to sell toys or models it was up to the that manufacturer to add more detail to make it look more realistic! Takara did all the markings in 1982/83 for the model kits that is mostly still used up to this day! The only slight upgrade was the ATM-09-ST 21C which used a new font for the # marking. Bandai had to do their own graphic marking on the FATTY to make it look more realistic and I thing they did a good job in keeping the marking subtle! In the new OVA, Die Graue Hexe, the marking will be present right away since the use a computer to calculate every frame.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

Well, for better or worse, the producers of Macross use different naming schemes (a la Delta's characters named after famous jets and pilots), and they seem to choose less silly names out of public suggestions*—such as "Messiah" in the Newtype mail-in promotion during the initial part of Frontier's run. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RRS_Sir_David_Attenborough#Naming_poll ... though, it would be great to see NUNS ships named "Boaty McBoatface" and "It's Bloody Cold Here"! 🤣 -
Note that the Legioss foot configuration is not the same for diver and soldier modes. The Toyrise appears to have more limited foot articulation that doesn't allow the front of the foot to splay out and flatten in diver mode as it typically would. It also looks like the heel cannot be extended back like the Sentinel does with a slider mechanism. Compare the Toyrise to Sentinel below, pic courtesy of Jenius' site I see no reason why you couldn't leave the feet configuration and use it diver for soldier as well and I doubt it would negatively affect balance. It just wouldn't be accurate to how the feet are supposed to be configured and look for soldier, which is the heel flipping down and not extended back like for diver. Using the diver feet configuration for soldier would also reduce the height of the figure and the figure is pretty small as is being smaller than the Sentinel.

Yes, it's the same kit. I sort of lost track of this build last year and I hadn't posted an update on it for a while. I was documenting the build here and there, and I'll probably have another video done soon.

Genuinely appreciate the offer. But, since I have the original release, I resolved not to buy the new one unless I saw it in a store. The reports of QC issues are making me glad I went that route instead of buying one online.- 18233 replies

What I'm wondering is, instead of configuring the front foot and heel like this for soldier: ...configure it like how it looks here in diver for soldier mode. Balance issues maybe?: There's another pose where you can kinda see the inner part of the foot joint mechanism.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'd just cross my fingers and hope that all copies of that one were lost in the war. ... a few of those you might be able to get away with. 😅 There's a city named Broken Arrow in Oklahoma, for instance, and we know they name ships and classes after municipalities still (e.g. Northampton, Uraga, Brampton). You could probably get away with Hunter's Moon too... we've had Silver Moon and Red Moon. There've been a few warships named Chameleon already. A few named Legion too. Star Runner doesn't sound too out of place either. Kickboxer wouldn't even look that out-of-place... the US and British navies have had a BUNCH of ships named Boxer (and yes, the original ship was named for the sport). I'd be worried about a ship named the Hard Boiled. That seems like they'd cause a lot of unnecessary property damage. In the wise words of Radiohead... "You do it to yourself, you do. And that's what really hurts." -
Appreciate your indulgence. Seems I understood you just fine. I just figured there had to be more to your criticism. I'm not pulling out the pitchfork for ~15 degrees of delta.
