It's not. That artwork greatly exaggerates the angle of the seat. These orthographic views are a lot more consistent: It has become clear to me that the engine pods are all oversized on Jose's model, and the front fairing along with them. I'll make substantial adjustments to scale and proportions for the next prototype. Those Navy Division (NA.D.) outfits never even appeared in the anime, yet they got model kits instead of the Spartas Hovertanks...? 🤨 Southern Cross merchandise was a joke, all right. 🙄 Seriously, though... "Seats up to 3 fashion dolls." 🤨 Those Matchbox packaging designers must've been on crack back in the '80s. 🤪

Bandai 1/60 VF-25 DX MESSIAH VALKYRIE Top Gun: Maverick Ver.
rsvictor1976 replied to seti88's topic in Toys
Who’s to say that Bandai won’t release a VF-1 version later on? Even if it’s limited to the Japanese market, they could still do it after seeing the demand for one. They already have the license from Paramount and it would be more wasteful if they didn’t fully use it. They know the VF-1 will sell in Japan and just be resold to the rest of the world. Regardless, Bandai will still get paid. They do it all the time with their limited Tamashi Nations exclusive releases. - Today

You know the worst part about that? The reverse transformation back to fighter is where the freakin' thing will explode if you follow the instructions, because Bandai never realized the legs don't work the same way going both directions. Following the instructions is the fastest way to make sure your knee joints turn into very expensive shrapnel.

With all that multiverse stuff, he probably just got yanked over from a dimension where he was used for weapon X instead of Logan. I guess that Logan would just be able to heal really well after his very breakable bones keep getting snapped in fist fights and he regrets stepping into bars because he can smell everything even though he really needs a drink

Some pics I found on a quick search The seat may have to angle up just a little and I never realized how triangular the seat actually is supposed to be. And the front while looking totally awesome is probably too big like you said. Looks like the top of the console area is pretty close to level with the top of the seat maybe just slightly lower than the top of the seat, it’s a bit tough to tell from that over the top view picture

My copy of the Valkyrie and Destroid Encyclopeida arrived yesterday. As speculated above, it's mostly just a reprint of the line art with not a lot of technical details or new information, but it appears to be quite comprehensive, with a lot of stuff from games, M2, and Macross the Ride in additon to the series and movie mechs. Most of it is art I've seen before, but there is some new stuff (to me, at least) in here, like this spread on the Delta Workroid. Am looking forward to a detailed perusal this weekend!

Sorry for the silence, been a busy month with a lot of travel and home projects eating up my time. Popping by to share a bit of irony/coincidence/Murphy's Law, as yesterday I received my copy of the new Valkyrie and Destroid Encyclopedia, which turns out to not just be a very nice repository of well detailed line art, but also has a two page spread on the Delta Workroid! This would have been helpful about a month ago! 😄 Oh well. also happens to have a very clean version of the YF-24 art in there as well. Good book for us folks looking for references, but timing could have been better. 😉

Bandai still reuses some Imai molds whenever they do a classic rerelease run. And some of the other aircraft kit companies are still reusing the old 60’s kits. I know they do degrade over time and sometimes they just run into accidents and get destroyed. I think it was the Monster kit that had a bad issue that Bandai needed to touch up before they could reuse them or possibly just had to totally redo them, can’t exactly remember

Gotta wonder if people bought it on Amazon just to review bomb it. There's no way people couldn't tell what the proportions were, from just the promo pics.

Bandai 1/60 VF-25 DX MESSIAH VALKYRIE Top Gun: Maverick Ver.

Looks like almost half the comments were excessively translated to be passive aggressive for no reason. Can't shake the feeling that some of those people think it's an april fools joke and went along with perceived trolling too. There are quite a few alluding to or outright pointing out the harmony gold bs, although some others also clearly had no clue. So of course there were also quite a few complaining about it not being VF-1 / Tomcat from the original etc. There is clearly at least one guy coming out bitter over current events as well, which might be what is setting the sarcastic mood for some others. I'm getting the vibe that I was mistaken and Nakamura might have dubbed Hangman? Haven't even seen the new one, let along care about a dub... but Idk about those twitter translations, since the overall vibes were kind of odd in a uniform way. It almost felt like an AI just translated the whole page to have the tone of the same salty person. The comments don't all feel kinda spicy like that, based on what little I can barely read The comments I saw was a toy channel on yt doing a shorts on the news, and those comments there seemed like mostly hype. -
🤣 The parting remarks from the review above: "I originally wanted to do a reverse transformmation video, but after transforming it back to Fighter, I must say it is simply 10 times more torturous! After the transformation, I simply have no wish to transform it a 2nd time, hence I decided not to film it. If you guys want to know what kind of feeling this is, I highly recommend getting one to experience it for yourselves (No way I should suffer alone in this)."

On the subject of reusing molds until they're dust, does anyone know how Hasegawa keep their molds in usable condition? I know polishing of molds happens occasionally, but surely there must come a point when they have to just make new molds altogether, right? And in either case, are the new/polished molds different enough to be noticeable? Like, are original VF-1 kits from 2001 better-fitting than their 2026 reissues (to say nothing of even older molds, like IIRC their 1/48 F-14 molds taken from a defunct competitor that originally made them in the 70s)?

You just need a bit of trial and error while scaling down the hover bike until you get the right fit for the Dana figure.
