So land, then sea, now air... next one in space???

Dang, I think you just spoiled the sequels. lol. But yeah, I expect space or something in the sequels. Eventually this will have to come to a conclusion or they are going to milk Pandora till it has a Starbucks in every tree.

I think the last one is going to Earth, somehow. There's already a clip in this new one that looks like Sully gets taken in and brought to Earth as a war criminal or something, that may even be the ending and the last film is the Na'vi commandeering a big ass ship and taking the fight to Earth.

Either that or it’s a water, fire, ice thing since the first one had them flying around in the wind

Yeah. You're probably right. It's the whole full circle to further emphasize the devastation by humans and their machines... It will be very... Cameron.

Given Current Hollywood, that is pretty much the only franchise/IP that is making good on that goal... :D

You right. Both films in top 3 all time earners. Curious if the third will join them or will this sequel be too soon?

Money wasn't ever an issue for this sequel. The hurdle was the schedule to get it going. Still rumoured to be released next year.

Jokes aside I'll be seeing this film when its released in the theaters. The AVATAR films are a 3D spectacle that we don't see much these days since the trend ended years ago. Probably bring along my eleven year old daughter for her first 3D experience. I'd like to bring my son who is 8 but don't know if he'll tolerate sitting in the same seat for three hours, lol.

Was never an Avatar fan. Much rather he put his energy into Alita and got that going again. Could have had three or four sequels by now!

Alita was always a side amusement for him, but Avatar is all him along his love for visual effects and the bare natural world.

I loved the Alita movie, but it also apparently barely broke even, or potentially had losses up to 50 million. Avatar movies make well over a billion dollars and it's his passion project series, I'd love to see another Alita, but I'm not holding my breath.

IMO one of the knocks of Alita were the large eyes. It disconnected a fair share of the audiance.

They definitely benefit from the theater experience. The home viewing is very bland at best. These movies are visually cool in 3D on the big screen, but they’re not much better than Saturday morning cartoons as far as writing and story.

I don’t think that was a big issue. Most people just didn’t give the movie a chance. Most of the viewers actually really enjoyed the film. Even the reviews weren’t bad for it, just the audience was non existent. Not enough people interested in the franchise and not a lot of people interested in a non kids cg looking movie. It also kinda lacked the hype that Avatar has despite being far better than Avatar for the most part.

Maybe. I based my view on my circle of friends and family that watched it, and with most of them not really Anime and Manga fans, the big eyes was a disconnection with the character. Was also for me. Really didn't interpret well in live action.

The people I know are a bit of a mix, and those that saw it really enjoyed it, anime fan or not. But they’re majority of people I know have never heard of it at all or just didn’t want to take their kids to see it and forgot about its existence. I guess maybe if it ain’t Smurfs or smurf colors, then they didn’t care

I watched Alita twice. And if a sequel does come out, I'll probably watch it again to recap myself.

But... Avatar 2... That stays as a once off. Visually beautiful and entertaining, but not a single character resonated enough with me to ever watch it again...

My feelings as well. For me, Avatar just looks like a lot of flash for visual entertainment created around a pretty simple story line. Awesome effects, but not much else.
