TangledThorns Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Lets see if they can top first season's intro. Seriously, one of the best series intros ever and I never skipped it too.

Oh, I didn’t know Peacemaker was part of the snyderverse since he basically quit after justice league and the Suicide Squad was handled by Gunn, which explained to me why it was the first of the modern DC movies that felt worth watching more than once.
Mog Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Kinda would suck if his crew doesn’t come with him. Part of the fun was how the other characters started to mesh together.
Tking22 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I liked the first episode, mostly just reintroductions and recaps. On to the gritty.... Spoiler I think this was the best way to address the universe swap, quick and dirty. He didn't constantly bag on Aquaman for being a fish frakker, he bagged on Guy for his penchant for puke, and the Justice Gang, not League, showed up late to help with the butterflies. I know with the multi verse people expected Peacemaker to just universe hop from DCEU to DCU, but I like this better, let the multi verse stuff serve Chris himself and the actual narrative, it's not just a quick, cheap gimmick to explain the new DCU. I'm looking forward to more, good to have to show back after all this time.
Bolt Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Just finished episode 2 of the second season . Best thing the DC universe has done, IMO.
Hikuro Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Surprised there hasn’t been more chatter on this namely the last couple weeks. i was thinking how boring this season has been but they’ve been amping things up with 1 episode left. Spoiler Visiting Earth X again which we haven’t seen since the early CW crossovers, and Hartcourt mentioning all the Nazi symbolisms with Chris saying he never noticed any of these things including a wall size mural of Hitler was hilarious. and Auggie actually being a decent human being it’s really a damn shame that Adrian being the shotgun into action douche he is went and killed the guy.

I have been enjoying the show so far....but yeah, fans are just fed up with getting excited about shows then getting let down at the end....so far so good on the DC Gunn-verse, nothing groundbreaking, but not unwatchable either....just a fun distraction from all the stupidity IRL....
Mog Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) Just finished the ep where Michael Rooker was doing some crazy fire dance. Didn’t have that on my punch card. EDIT: Just caught up, damn. . . Spoiler Poor Chris just got extra trauma. Luckily, Harcourt didn’t ice Keith, but pretty sure that’s a thread that will come back (assuming another season). Also curious if there’s more backstory about the helmets. And geez, impressed that Cena was able to pull off that dead-serious scene where his friends were about to kill his brother. He’s shown he can pull off the comedy. And he knows how to put in the subtle, serious dramatic undertones. But he nailed the hurt in that scene. Edited October 5 by Mog
Mog Posted Friday at 03:27 AM Posted Friday at 03:27 AM Well, that was a bit of a whiplash ending. Giving it some thought afterwards, it makes sense what happens, but Spoiler the “happiness” of the team opening up the agency and then Peacemaker getting tossed into Salvation was just jarring. Not sure I buy Flag’s full-on heel turn either. I get wanting revenge, but quite the leap to establishing a prison planet. Would have played better if he expanded on the idea of villains just escaping, causing more havoc, and killing more people (and not having Luther’s cronies whooping it up during and after the meeting). As a season overall, it was fun and has its moments. I get how the last episode ties to everything prior, but I kinda wish it tied back better to that alternate dimension stuff. Just a bunch of loose threads that I’m not sure we’ll ever see resolved, especially with that ending.
Big s Posted Friday at 05:19 PM Posted Friday at 05:19 PM Just got caught up on the show. Lots of other stuff to watch, like the goofy alien show and Black Rabbit and since the first season wasn’t all that great, we decided to watch an bunch of Nightmare on elm street movies for scary season and all, although we should have just stopped at the third movie since they kinda get progressively worse. this season isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely better than the one before. It Bassically starts out as the network tv version of Deadpool 3 as quality, but with cussing and game of thrones nudity. Most of the actors feel like they would have the quality of a 90’s sitcom, with a few exceptions. I kinda feel like it’s more on the scale of quality with Cobra Kai where there’s a couple standouts and a flimsy story, but with just enough heart and humor and occasional cool thing happening to keep me watching. It’s also got that kinda if they only talked to eachother, then there wouldn’t be a situation at all that’s big with Cobra Kai. i think the biggest spoiler here is that Spoiler The main theme song is sung by a dude with facial hair. Thought it was a stressed out lady this whole time. Biggest clue that this was an alternate dimension is the Halloween is the biggest band in the world. Here, even amongst hard rock lovin folks they’re barely acknowledged as existing one thing as that while Peacemaker didn’t seem like the show fit in at all with the old dcu, it fells right at home with the silliness and cheapness of the new dcu. Like they won’t have to make the characters act any different at all to fit in the new version of this film and tv universe since everything is goofy

Here, even amongst hard rock lovin folks they’re barely acknowledged as existing I thought the fact that Chris' father and brother were both alive was the biggest clue....everything else was just part of the "goofiness" you mention that is part of the new DCU....actually the very existence of another world behind each door, by definition, meant it was not the same world, they were all alternate worlds... I thought the series was a fun distraction....I am no DC mega fan, but based on what I have read since the last episode, seems like it could get interesting....Gunn needs to really start cranking out more heroes and villians....hope he doesn’t drop the ball...

I think that it’s one of those shows that’s kinda down the middle where it’s not good enough to be great and not bad enough to be infuriating and is just kinda there. There’s also the fact that it’s intended to be a comedy, so you kinda forgive stupid things in the show, if it were a supposedly serious show like Alien Earth, then you’d have loud voices trashing every mistake or cringy scene, while this show has some stupid scenes and dumb characters, it’s a comedy so nobody is taking it serious enough for loud voices.
Tking22 Posted Friday at 07:53 PM Posted Friday at 07:53 PM I liked the season overall, but this was a weak-ass finale, definitely feels like half the episode exists just to set up Man of Tomorrow. From what I've read Gunn has no plans for a season 3, season 2 only really happened to help set up the new DCU and distinguish it from the DCEU, so I'm guessing we'll see Peacemaker again in Man of Tomorrow, and... Spoiler Salvation, the meta-human prison-planet. I gotta say, I really don't like that Flag Sr. just played into Luthor's hands so easily, I get it, he was willing to do anything to make Peacemaker pay, but he actively watched several innocent Argus agents die in horrible ways just to find the "right" planet, that's not very heroic, that's not like the Flag Sr. that I've seen since Creature Commandos. Once again, pretty weak finale overall IMO, the 11th Street Kids stuff was great, seeing Chris and everyone have their moment was fantastic, but everything outside them, and the flashback to the "cruise", it was just a lot of set up for the next Superman movie.
Mog Posted Friday at 08:22 PM Posted Friday at 08:22 PM I haven’t watched Creature Commandos, but Spoiler But even without having that context, I just don’t buy the full turn of Flag. If they had thrown a few random lines here and there of “Villain X got out of Arkham and killed 20 people” or “Villain Y was released from Belle Reve and caused $$$$ worth of damage” throughout the season, I MIGHT have bought the change in opinion and see why he was so intent on finding that prison planet. The revenge factor was obvious, but everything else about his motivation this last ep seemed too much of “plot driving the character” again. I did enjoy that all the 11th Street Kids are damaged folks trying to do better. . . and stumbling while going through the process. Gives them some depth.

Big s Posted Friday at 09:31 PM Posted Friday at 09:31 PM That was the finale????!!!!! I thought there was gonna be at least another episode or two. That is crappy if it was the finale. 1 hour ago, Tking22 said: contents Salvation, the meta-human prison-planet. Spoiler I don’t know why they didn’t just use drones, it’s not like the went more than a few feet through each door. But maybe they were just looking for an excuse to get rid of agents they didn’t like, they sure thought it was funny when they died horribly
Mog Posted Friday at 10:02 PM Posted Friday at 10:02 PM I will give credit to Gunn for introducing me to some fun little rockers. Nothing on the level of Band Maid from Season 1, but the immature idiot in me enjoyed “F@&king My Heart in the Ass.” And the line “And God knows I’ve had some rough f&@king years” and that whole Foxy Shazam intro song really ties well with this season and has a sneaky resonate message.
Hikuro Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Yeah I got to admit, that was the laziest piece of writing for a finale as you could possibly get. As if Gunn just had no idea how to finish it and just randomized everything. I thought there was gonna be a big battle or something. Spoiler I half expected either Keith to just suddenly appear wanting to kill chris, or maybe even have a finale after the credits with Flag Sr. had appeared on Earth X, maybe even joining forces with Keith or something so he could see Jr or whatever. Not for Chris to suddenly after everything is better for him and coping to be throw into Salvation and put it all to bed. It was kind of a BS slap to the face. Overall, while it wasn't a terrible season it wasn't great either in comparison to the first. There was almost no action, Cena maybe worn either his suit or his Earth X suit for no more than 3 minutes of 7 hours. Joel Kinnaman had 2 minutes of screen time total like there could have been something there and it just got dropped, and the whole Earth X thing just was done and gone.

Really expected more and didn’t even realize that this was the last episode. I was kinda ok with the show until I heard that. Spoiler Totally was expecting the rest of the gang to have gotten the Justice Gang to help shut things down and a showdown with Keith
