Swann Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 First edition version. Not from the 15th anniversary versions. Quote
ChristopherB Posted December 21, 2025 Author Posted December 21, 2025 Thank you to everyone who has kept this thread going, and I hope everyone is doing well. You guys have some amazing model kits in your collection! More than 25 years ago, Jung pioneered the idea to take a 1/55 VF-1S toy and turn them into a painted model kit complete with waterslide decals and customization. Latest update on my Macross Bandai "Jung" 1/55 VF-1S Roy Strike Valkyrie. Being faithfully and patiently restored by my friend Jose Gonzalez, who is also making several improvements! This is a collaboration between us, but his talents get due credit. But the best part, is that both Valkyries (Roy & Hikaru) will once again be completely transformable! It'll be more of a "Jose" custom now, with many upgrades like airbrushed black stripes instead of decals. 😉 But with the base and inspiration from Jung, who was a pioneer toy/model mashup builder. Going back more than 25 years ago on the Macross World forums. Jung's custom Valkyries are extremely limited in numbers and sold for a pretty penny! I own (5) Jung Valkyries, they're a special part of my collection. Jose is also working on my Macross Bandai "Jung" 1/55 VF-1S Hikaru Strike Valkyrie as well. I hope to share pictures of it soon. (Reason for Restoration: 25+ years since purchase, so there was some discoloration, decal damage, the original donor Jetfires used by Jung weren't great, brittle plastic, they couldn't transform due to Jung using hot glue/super glue, and various other problems caused by a friend.) RT junkie Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Getting ready for when retirement comes in ~10-15 years. Want to make sure I have stuff to keep me busy. Some of these I bought as a kid all the way back in the ‘80s. Quote

Shawn Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Now THIS is my kind of post! That is a healthy collection you've got going there, have a lot of classic hard to find kits! The layer of undisturbed dust on the open ends is awesome and shows the time in the archives. You should take a half day off and remove the front layers from some of those shelves to see what is hiding on the back layer too! I love how you can always super stack the Nichimos into every nook and cranny at the tops, I've got a couple shelves looking just like this one Quote
Thom Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Looks like @RT junkie is going to have a very busy and happy retirement! (in 10-15 years...) Good looking collection @Shawn Now just make sure you have enough glue and paint! Quote
Shawn Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 oh no, that is @RT junkie's picture, I just used it for reference. His shelves are much more organized than my chaos. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 @RT junkie - My GOODNESS! Now THAT'S a retirement plan I can get behind!!! Quote
RT junkie Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 I’ve been chipping away at it for years. Just finished this 1/200 one yesterday. According to my calcs, if I manage to find restraint from buying more, I should be able to complete them around the same age Yoda was when he bit it. Quote
