Could it be that stores are ordering less from the distributor? I know there are a handful of MWers who aren't purchasing it regularly, and stores are basing their orders on that.

Though, I am surprised that Amazon is listing it at that price. This past Saturday I saw at least 3 issues in the neighbourhood of my workplace at 2 different bookstores. Which suggests that you *should* be able to find one at cover price if you're willing to shop around a bit more off the beaten track.

I haven't seen any more than two copies of each issue on the shelves recently. I'm not buying it regularly, I just wanted that pic of the 19P. I actually found one issue today in Kichijoji and bought it, last one there.

Ah, I miss my Kyoto days -- I lived right above a 24hour bookshop and I always got the Chronicle on the day of release.

Some things from #10 (out today):

- the episode sheet (Plus) looks like a restoration of the production data sheet that the original edition was planning to do but ultimately truncated due to space concerns.

Next issue preview (#11)

- New Hidetaka Tenjin painting of the VF-11MAXL in fighter form (consistent with the other VF sheets that are putting Super Part equipped VF paintings on the B sheet and "naked" VFs on the A sheet).

- Binder stickers: 1, 2, 3 for the spines (no Zentraadi numbers this time), and what appears to be stickers for the dividers (no new sections, just what looks like stickers to cover over the divider's text with an existing section).

I gotta say, I had trouble finding this one. The normally reliable Books Ruhe in Kichijoji didn't have it, so I scurried over to Kichijoji Animate, where they had... one copy. (*whew*)

I'm puzzled and a little worried... maybe I should just subscribe.

re: New Hidetaka Tenjin painting of the VF-11MAXL in fighter form

Will that be the cover image or just an illustration within the magazine?

Probably both.

If the MAXL Custom had ever been covered in Space Whale pollen, I'd hedge my bets, but since it wasn't, I'm pretty sure cover and interior illustration will be the same.

That's good news...I was thinking we would need to wait longer for new covers....soooo...that's 9 confirmed new covers....21 to go? Or will they hook us in with more than 30?

Who knows...? Issue 6 and the recent (i.e. TODAY) Issue 10 didn't have new pics. Everything else has.

ER/RC++ Project:
Worldguide 05A: Anti Unification Alliance: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/05aAntiUnificationAlliance.php
- some interesting stuff. Glad that the return fleet/ship from Mars Sera Base gets a mention... but... has it really been reduced to a single ship boat?

Well, to give them the benefit of the doubt, it could've been a fleet of return boats (Japanese doesn't usually distinguish between singular and plural after all).

Nevertheless... boat... the only other times I've seen that come up is when they talk about the small craft the Zentraadi use to move personnel between ships... was it another case of mis-communication between those in the know and those writing the MC?

Well, from my (SORRY!!) still-not-yet-finished translation of the Misa novel, I get the feeling that the Sara Base crew was pretty small. Certainly, Riber went there in one ship with very few passengers, and when they evacuated the base, it seemed like it was only because the UN Forces were desperate for ANY able bodies they could find.

So, yeah... it might have been small craft. The Misa novel specifies ten, however.

The novel is consistent with other sources I've come across. Namely: a fleet returning from Mars (what exactly composes the fleet isn't described). Macross the First even depicted a debris field of significant size (again, unclear what the original ships were).

I can appreciate MC emphasizing the diminutive nature of the vessel(s) involved, but the lack of consistency is disheartening.

I agree. I'm getting a creeping feeling that I've read more sources than the Chronicle staff has, and it's not even my native language...

Updated and slapped into php: Mechanic FB 02A: VF-4 Lightning III: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/FBun02aVF4LightniningIII.php

- there are a few spots were I redid the translation (fingers crossed, it's more understandable). There are also a couple of sections that were revised in the new version (cockpit, cockpit, and Max, again. Max sure caused a lot of trouble in the original version.)

ER/RC+ Project:

Worldguide 07A: Within the Macross: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/07aWithinTheMacross.php

- a few nuggets, but a bit underwhelming. Parts of the sheet proper look interesting, but that'll have to wait until there's more free time...

Character: 7 00A "Macross 7" Character Interrelation Chart/Triangle Timeline: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/700ACharacterInterrelation.php#

- again, an underwhelming EC/RC. I'm not going to touch that interrelation chart. Even in chart form, it's confusing... The reverse? Watch the series for the "resolution".

Episode sheets:

706A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 6 "First Contact": ]http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/706ABeps6.php]

F04A & B: Macross F Eps. 4 "Miss Macross": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/F04ABeps4.php

Ai01A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Do You Remember Love?: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/DYRL01ABsdfm-DYRL.php

- Of these, I found the DYRL one the most enlightening (specifically the non-production side real-world effects and reactions at the time of release). Nevertheless, the other sheets have some fun facts, too.

ER/RC++ Project:

Episode Plus 00A: Macross Plus Production Data: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/Plus00APlusProductionData.php

- pretty much a complete translation (sans staff and cast). It basically amounts to a restructured and expanded reprint of the Extra Sheet.

History Zero 01A: Unified Forces and Anti Unification Alliance: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/Zero01AUnifiedForcesAndAUA.php

- Some interesting stuff. A sheet that I'll have to get back to. The opening paragraph on the reverse pretty much states that the Unified Government is led by the US and the Anti Unification Alliance is led by Russia. How early 80's cold war, Macross!

Technology 06A: The Macross Class and Its Successor Ships: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/06aMacrossClassAndItsSuccessors.php

- again, my interest is piqued. What's most interesting is the ER/RC on the Zentraadi ships. R&R facilities for the Zentraadi? Whut up wit dat?

Completes:

Issue 11 Back Cover Filing Instructions: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/CoverEtc.php#11

Issue 11 Sticker Insert: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/CoverEtc.php#11insert

- I really like what they did with the stickers in the Revised Edition. We just have to be careful when we peel them off, eh?

Mylene Flare Jiinasu / Sheryl Nome x YF-21: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRheroine/HeroineGalleryMF.php#MyleneFlareJiinasu

- Surprisingly, other than the illo names, it's all recycled content. I was under the impression that they'd be using different artists each time, not the same ones!

ER/RM++ Project:

Character Plus UN 02A Millard Johnson: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/PlusUN02aMillardJohnson.php

- Not particularly surprising if one was paying attention during the OVA. The addition to his back story is a nice touch.

Finally got in my first ten issues.

So lemme get this straight...folks take these issues apart so they can file everything inside the binder? I'd rather not destroy them.

I have a question for those of you who got their hands on issue #10. Is the Hikaru VF4 battroid in color, this time? (the old edition had it in b&w, which was odd)

No, it's still B&W.

Finally got in my first ten issues.

I take 'em apart, yeah. I think of it as not "destroying" the Chronicle, but "assembling" it.
