Well that explains a lot. Solid State Society is a movie/OVA version of 2nd Gig. Bummer.

...Uh, what? Did you not read any of the rest of the thread or something?

Individual Eleven is the movie/OVA version of 2nd Gig. Solid State Society is all new, following the SAC continuity and set years after 2nd Gig.

Well it has both Kuze and Goada in the poster, both of whom die at the end of 2nd gig. Is "Individual Eleven" what they're calling the 2nd Gig OVA then?

Production IG has some more detail on the story on their site:

Story

A.D. 2034. It has been two years since Motoko Kusanagi left Section 9. Togusa is now the new leader of the team, that has considerably increased its appointed personnel. The expanded new Section 9 confronts a rash of complicated incidents, and investigations reveal that an ultra-wizard hacker named the Puppeteer is behind the entire series of events.

In the midst of all, Batou, who was stalking the case on a separate track, encounters Motoko. She goes away after saying, "Stay away from the Solid State Society." Batou is left with a doubt in his mind. Could Motoko be the the Puppeteer?

The series of intriguing incidents that Section 9 faces gradually link together almost artistically. Who is the Puppeteer? What will happen to Batou's relationship with Motoko? What is the full truth behind this carefully planned perfect crime? And what will the outcome be? Mysteries surround the Solid State Society...

NOTE: The word "Puppeteer" is used in this text as a temporary translation for the original Japanese term "Kugutsu Mawashi," and it is not meant to be the official English adaptation.

So, this really sounds like a continuation of the overall Stand Alone Complex story. Exxxxxcellent.

Is there anyone with links to a higher resolution trailer?

I did some searching, and I found the following:

More real/anime car comparisions: http://clappa.jp/special/003/special_003_04.html

some line-art: http://clappa.jp/special/003/special_003_03.html

(the axe looks lethal)

And, on the Japanese wikipedia for GitS: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%94%BB%E6%...d_State_Society

It's not listing this in the movie section. In fact, it's listing it there as Gits: SAC 3rd gig!

It also has the following:

2006å¹´11月24æ—¥ã«DVD発売。 (2006/11/24 DVD sale start)

2006å¹´9月1æ—¥ã«ã‚¹ã‚«ãƒ‘ー!パーフェクトãƒãƒ§ã‚¤ã‚¹160PPVã§æ”¾é€é–‹å§‹ã€‚ (2006/09/01 PPV on Skuba! Perfect Choice 160, starts.)

This here lists it as a "Original Long-animation Pay-per view videogram." It's going to be in Highvision*, with Dolby Digital 5.1., and is planned to be about 100 minutes.

* Highvision, or HV, is what I believe the Japanese are calling high definition digital TV.

I have the raw for this....It feels like a very long episode.

BTW, it's licensed already. The DVD is due out next summer. It will probably hit the convention screening rooms as well. So those of you planning at being at a convention next year will see it on the big screen.
