Part of the reason why this page was set up was so that that his detractors couldn't go out and set up a page for the sole purpose of bashing him. Is it because he took 3 different anime series and cobbled a story to string it all together? Despite the opinion if it was good or bad, it still made history in terms of outside of Japan anime awareness. Hell, I saw that the whole damn show on TV show and it was my first intro to Macross. And this Bankofkev guy... Who da f*ck is he? I just visited that blog and it was a riot. Like watching a re-run handyman episode from In Living Color. He would also say it was more playable than the 1/48(very debatable and you guys know my stance on this) and how while the MPC stays up, he "once saw a bandai fall over". And how the MPC was more canon to the cartoon thqan the 1/48 was and how it was obvious the 1/48 was a prebuilt model kit, and flamed others for disagreeing. And what REALLY got me looking at anime was (shamefully enough) Sailor Moon. Largely because it was the first one I recognized as "anime" and not just cartoons in general. Hell, I saw that the whole damn show on TV show and it was my first intro to Macross. And after Sailor Moon I was reintroudced to Robotech, started doing some research, found out about it's deep dark secret, and became a true Macross fan. Pretty much every project the man touched he found a way to grind it up in such a way that made you wince. Either through edits, horrid voice acting, picking licenses no one really wanted, etc. etc. etc. Back in college when I was a huge anime head I and the other anime heads called anything released by Streamline or Macek as being "Macekered". Compare the overall quality and feel of a Streamline dubbed only VHS release from it's heyday against other higher quality subtitled releases of the time and you'll see my point. Even when Robotech was on TV in 1985 I knew it was "not the pure form" of the shows. Macek did a barely tollerable job of gluing the shows together and yet people keep trying to praise him as some sort of anime pioneer. I think Sandy Frank did more for anime than Macek. You really had to bold it and put it right at the top of your page so everybody could see. Also, you work for a company which hasn't produced a real piece of original content... well since.... ever. Your company rips off character and mechanical designs from Japanese animations from the 1980s. It also uses underhanded techniques to keep your customers from buying (or even knowing about) a far superior product from Japan. Thumbs up to that. We wanted to control the various domain nemaes of the Robotech universe. It allows us to support the main RT.com website and ensures the overall health of the franchise. The last thing we would want is to have mospeada.com be a porn site or something. I wish it was a porn site... at least I'd be getting some gratification watching big breasted hotties instead of clawing my ears out to reba west's voice.
