What's more it's not even a highly specialized job requiring intense training (must be really stressful, watching over a show that hasn't aired in the US for a really long time, and developing a new vaporware series that will only air on this new type of media called "YOUR F-ING IMAGINATION!!" (they can name all the names they want for people "involved" in the project, all the numbers or whatever... until I see a pilot episode or pilot animation that DOESN'T draw on a previous animated series, I'm not convinced.) I wonder how it feels to be the captain of a sinking ship? Here is one who could certainly tell us. Kev, we've had some civilized conversations in the past, and I'll admit talking to you is like trying to convince a southern baptist that there is no God (purely a simile, not a practice I perform!). But creating a 'blog to do nothing more than place yourself on the Robotech pedastal is taking it a bit too far, don't you think? btw, Myriad, thanks for posting that map! I know everyone has their feelings about certain people but every time they come up, they come up with our lunch it seems. I'll admit I myself am not fond of Carl Macek, but that is because he gets press that he was some sort of "visionary" and "grandfather of american anime" when he wasn't... but that is my opinion on the matter as are the claims of his status are someone else's. As for BoK he is just as partisan, just as we are. He will take any football kicked his way and run with it, just as we would. Time to split emotion from reason and just let this die. I find this really ironic coming from a group of people who spend their time watching cartoons and put effort into discussion boards about them. I'm not knocking watching cartoons or discussion boards, but people in glass houses.... There are a few people above who got it right by acknowledging how lame it is to knock a guy who got a job somewhere he loves. His gloating is fair game, for sure. But I think any fan would agree that the best people to work at any company, at any level, should be fans of the company and its product. HG is a company that has engaged in some very dubious practices that have adversely affected the pleasure of individuals on this board. I'd blame that on youthful ignorance, but then I'd be a hypocrite. Because of HG all of us have had to pay major mark ups and shipping costs to get the products we want. To be honest, I know very little about the ops of Harmony Gold, and pricing. I do know a little about entertainment industry business practices, though, and short of contracting with a MAJOR distributor, the cost of Robotech products will always be a little high. That is, until the demand enters the mainstream, and the bulk production and shipping costs can reasonably be lowered. OR quality of the product is dropped. As a fan, it is indeed your right and duty to complain about this, and you probably know much more about their history than I could ever fathom, but compared to every other production, development, and distribution company in Hollywood, HG is far from the evil enterprise you make them out to be. I commend them for taking a great stride and bringing a diehard fan onto their staff, especially to help assemble a fan outreach effort like Robocon 20. Not only does BoK have a passion for this sort of thing, you should also know that he put together the most financially successful fund raiser in his high school's history... a sci-fi convention, and he was only a junior.
