Makes me incredibly glad I picked up those dual DVD packs of the special editions before the blurays came out. I think, short of a laser disc, those are the only release of the original versions in a digital format. I always thought those editions were based on the old THX re-master from before the special editions came out, but the quality on Ep IV is still pretty bad.

Don't think that was from Macross 30, looked too low resolution to be PS3. I think the shots were from one of the PSP games. No reason you can't equip it the same way in Macross 30, but I don't recall how hard the YF-25 was to unlock.

Heh, have to agree about the 17s, they're not the prettiest plane in the bunch perhaps, but they're built like tonka trucks compared to the 171s. The really ironic thing though? The one flaw on one of my 17Ds is the same exact shoulder piece that always fails on the 171s. Granted, I wound up making it worse by trying to fix it, but one of the shoulder triangles had a mold flaw keeping it from seating correctly. It's fixed up well enough, but the triangle is clearly re-glued and touched up, and the surface has been glued and sanded down.

The style difference seems a little jarring, considering what came before. There's a clear design lineage in the helmets at least, but it still has hints of, "Let's take everything that used to be angled, and remake it in fancy swoopy curvy shapes." Styles definitely change, but when every re-style of an existing franchise comes off looking like it's been re-tooled by Apple, people start to get tired of it. It's not that it doesn't fit the universe, but it's been done so many times, people are sick of that kind of reimagining, and the similarity alone is enough to make people dislike it.

I dunno what it is with valks and some pieces just completely exploding. That's painful. Fortunately, if you could actually manage to get the thing apart, that seems like it would be a really easy part to come up with a replacement for. It's just a bar with two holes in it.

Don't think it's out for a couple months yet, but I haven't looked recently. I'll be honest though, I ordered two RVF-171s with little to no expectation of either of them being flawless. I'm just hopeful I can kitbash one functional copy out of the two.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
Chronocidal replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Eh, might be nice with a good recasting and rework to give it some actual features. Detailing doesn't look terrible at least, and it might actually be less work than to fix up the problems with the old FX model. -
Yeah, HLJ actually has some strange issues sometimes with packing slips. I once had a package held for a week because they included a bunch of those macross freebie materials from back during a sale.. just concept art cards for the Macross Quarter... but because they were free, the customs office threw a hissy fit over them not declaring a value. I sent them an email asking them to be more careful with how they declare "freebies," but never really got a response.

Should be pretty soon, I just got my shipping notice from them a few minutes ago.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2

......waaaaiit. You're saying.... they made an x-wing... that can't make its wings into an X. I can't even. On the other hand though.... $35 doesnt sound too bad for a giant fixer-upper x-wing to retool and scratch build onto. Lack of features aside, it's still a nice base to work from, and you could probably engineer a better wing mechanism yourself than any mass produced version would have. Unless of course, you mean they actually went so far as to mold the wings as a single solid piece, in whichcase they should be shot. -
.... that's not incomplete... it's a painting. No wonder it looks so off, that's just a 2-dimensional background prop. The perspective compressed the nose in the other view.

Just to test it, I did attempt to modify my order, and it will let me change quite a few things about it (though I did not try to change the items or quantities). It successfully let me change my payment method to a credit card, but since the payment was already sent via Paypal, I don't know if that will have any effect on the order at this point.
-
I'm perfectly okay paying their current price, if they can fulfill the order I placed. Looking at their options and help pages, canceling or modifying an order looks pretty simple, but I don't know how it would apply after payment has already gone through. I might email them to ask about switching to a credit card payment. I just wish the preorder windows weren't so long. As far as them being a reputable retailer though, I figure the worst case is that they can't deliver, and have to cancel my order, and refund the charge to paypal.
-
Yeah, I did check what happened if I tried to order 20 at a time, so I'm not expecting much success. Won't know what'll happen until they actually hit the market.
-
Same, though reading their page info seems encouraging, since they offer a 6 month warranty on anything that isn't software. Good news with Bandai, though you might still need to return it at your own expense. I opted for Paypal out of reflex, but if they have a good reputation, I'm not too worried. There's a fairly clear option to cancel or modify orders up until they're shipped, and if they wind up not getting enough stock, it should just be refunded. I'm done with preorders though, picked up a few to resell, and might keep one for myself. Hope I didn't overdo it! I imagine there will always be a demand for this one though, so I'm not that concerned, and we won't know who can actually fill their orders until release happens.
-
Hopefully that site is able to get enough in to fill orders, guess we'll find out. Total for two shipped FedEx was actually $60 cheaper than two from NY shipped registered air.

Wow.. that's interesting.. and I really shouldn't feel tempted to grab a third one, but I do. No Black Friday discount this time though.

Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Chronocidal replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
This is getting up to Amelia Earheart levels of losing the topic you know... But while we're here, no, pretty sure the SDF-1 was the only ship that had to transform to fire the cannon. I seem to remember Max firing it while Battle 7 was in cruiser mode, and I know they did it that way in Frontier. Also, the original SDF-1 was never meant to hold people inside its random hull cavities, and after that, the battle portions were separated from the civilian areas. Now, if we can shove aside the issues of how a show about transforming fighter jets isn't realistic, I'd like to return to drooling over that VF-0D. -
Why would you ever need to have skull decals printed? Just find a set of old VF-84 F-14 markings... not likely that they'll ever stop printing those.
-
It's sitting in the hangar behind the YF-29 in the second Frontier movie, along with a few other custom paintschemes that I'd love to see, but it's a very short scene.
-
I admit, I would have loved the YF-25 more if they had stuck to a single classic aircraft scheme for references instead of mashing a bunch together, but the fact that they produced anything resembling an aircraft tribute scheme still impresses me.
-
Did they actually print all those missile warning labels on the pod backwards, or did the picture get flipped around? Looking beautiful otherwise, that tampo is insane. All the more reason to stay in fighter mode forever.

NY's out again it seems. Hope some people managed to get some before the next price hike, $175's still pretty reasonable if you do cheap shipping with them.
