  1. So, while I wouldn't expect them to actually change anything, I'm still slightly disappointed that there's never been a fix for the tail bend those packs cause. Have to recommend everyone protect their left tail with something, whether it's clear coating, future, scotch tape, whatever... those back antennas will wreck the paint on that tail unless something is done.
  2. If these were released in Japan, I'm assuming their license there had to go through Big West.. could they get blacklisted for dealing with HG in the US?
  3. Funny enough, a large percentage of them were caused by collisions with the USS Reliant's nacelles, even. (Though it was modded into the Bozeman at the time.) TNG got more usage out of the gimmick at least, but it tended to be one of those things that wound up seeming not all that useful in the long run.
  4. Makes a lot of sense, and I was thinking I'd heard the saucer separation mentioned as an emergency measure at least once in TOS episodes, but the actual lines only talk about jettisoning the warp nacelles. Or was there a line in TMP about a potential separation?
  5. Canonically, the Constitution class ships were able to do that as well, it just wasn't something you did every episode as a plot device, because it was more of a warp core ejection and evacuation mechanism than something you'd do for convenience. It also required a spacedock to reconnect them. Now, if you mean ones that can reconnect on their own, that may be something they're trying to do.
  6. .... Yes. Because the thing I want to see out of my window is someone else's quarters? I'm not going to go touting Trek as some pinnacle of engineering practicality here, but there's a difference between something looking "cool but impractical" and... whatever that is.
  7. They would be smart to state this and clarify the limits before their entire userbase evaporates in a fit of rage. I'm curious if I'd be able to link mine still, but their site is so bloated I don't use it anyway. I mostly just kept it as an archive for linking random things when I wanted.
  8. My first time hearing about this recently was when browsing an older forum that did not have local storage, and suddenly the community was practically rioting because a significant majority of images in the forums suddenly were replaced by Photobucket's hostage letter.
  9. Ugh.. while I can't really completely hate on the Idolmaster kits, the only reason I've appreciated them is because they've allowed me to pick up a ton of otherwise fairly expensive Hasegawa kits at literal bargain basement clearance prices. Like, we're talking cheaper than walking to my local hobby shop and picking up a Revell kit, even with shipping. I can't help thinking it's because no one really wants them that badly.. but they keep releasing them anyway? But please.. they need to stop the nonstop torrent of DLC content in these games. It's been nothing but overpriced add-ons ever since AC6 came out, and AC6 was only barely good enough to keep me from giving up on the series.
  10. The short answer? Spread the word that Photobucket has forsaken any chance it had of remaining relevant, and everyone needs to ditch their accounts as fast as possible, and either use some other form of storage, or just upload their photos directly to the forums. They now want people paying a yearly fee of $400 to allow linking of images on their account. I downloaded everything I had on there, and have deleted my account now.
  11. See, that's all I'm really interested in seeing. They made the Shinden II kit, and I nabbed a couple of those, but I could care less about Ace Combat repaints of kits I either already have, or don't have any interest in otherwise. Come on Hasegawa, give me my Falken, Morgan, and Nosferatu!!
  12. See, I might actually consider buying that third version myself, but I just think Skyfire is a horribly designed boxy monstrosity with a doofy looking backpack with wings and engines. Whereas most transformer aircraft wind up as a boxy robot hanging under a jet, in Skyfire's case, they just decided to forego the jet entirely, and strap what amounts to a Buzz Lightyear backpack to a robot. Some of the more recent Jetfire molds actually haven't been half bad. The recent-ish blended F-22/F-14/Skyfire/Jetfire mashup was probably one of the best jet molds I'd seen in a long time. I still want to see him redone as a Vigilante though. I really need to finish building that MP-style Dreadwing model...
  13. I wonder if they'd consider releasing the kit version again. I get more enjoyment out of building things than just displaying them anyway, and it might help dial back the price a little.
  14. Heheh, the deal is that one is intended as a birthday present from my family, so I'll be transporting it with me when I go to visit, and building it there so they can see it. The other one can stay in my apartment.
  15. Just got shipping confirmation for my Saturn V sets, so I'm breathing a little easier. I need to leave one boxed until my birthday in August, but I might build the other in secret.
  16. Hopefully since this is a more recent product, and higher priced in general, it'll be closer to the original price like they managed with the VF-4 release. I definitely kind of want one... but the price may change my mind really quickly.
  17. I'd probably buy either one, since I missed the DYRL one originally anyway. By the time I decided it would be nice to display, they were beyond what I wanted to pay for one.
  18. I actually think that one was unique to the VF-171s. The VF-19 got "NO LIFT" ones, which makes more sense. I'm more thinking about how they slapped "ACCESS PANEL INSIDE" in like a dozen places that aren't even panels, random "DO NOT TOUCH" labels in random spots on the fuselage, and more jack stand locators than you need to lift a B-52. It's just the same way Bandai always seems to treat aircraft. There are billions of easily accessible online references for every facet of any type of aircraft they could possibly want, and they tend to ignore all of them, and go with whatever they feel like at the time. It's just baffling.
  19. I like tampo prints when they enhance the look of the valk, and are accurate, but Bandai did go overboard with this one. It's a combination of two things really. First, the markings themselves are huge, much larger than even the 1/48 scale Hasegawa YF-19 decals, so they stand out far more than they should. The second thing is a side-effect of the first: they're all entirely readable. That wouldn't be bad if the markings actually made sense, but I'm thinking Bandai didn't really care what text was printed where as long as it looks good on a shelf. It doesn't look bad, and I love the thing, so don't get me wrong. I just wish Bandai would stop half-assing their detail work, and just copy actual aircraft instead of thinking they know what they're doing. Anyway, as far as getting the booster to lock into place, I actually had to cut down the tabs. Mine looked like they'd be melted, and the smushy blobs that used to be locking tabs weren't sharp enough to lock into the recesses on the wing glove. Once I shaved down the molten plastic to make a sharp-cornered block, they stayed on much better. I still have one more of these I haven't opened, so I might photograph the process if I do it again.
  20. I just got an update saying my order is still out of stock, so at least they're keeping people updated, but I'm starting to get paranoid. Guess this is what happens dealing with Bandai for so long.
  21. You should swap out the stuffed birds with stuffed chibi Valkyries as soon as you can!
  22. I was introduced to more of what the Lego Dimensions sets have recently, and was shocked to discover just how many franchises they have pulled in. As for the nozzle.. I'm hoping I can build that into a Cosmo Zero from 2199, but the structure might not hold up in real life.
  23. I wonder if this is overdoing it a little... but as long as I've got unlimited pieces in the digital designer..

Grabbed one on CDJapan, missed HLJ, but I might try and get a second later. I slipped up and got distracted at order time.
