Man, sorry fellas I think that just a few judiciously placed washers (and maybe reinforced thread bosses or captive inserts) could have helped prevent a great deal of the issues and breakages people have reported. It's never a good idea to economize a high-end design to reduce margin on hardware that is cheap in the first place, but it's a much-too-common practice these days. I still like my zeros, though they could have been even better

These toys go for way too much on Ebay. As absolutely craptacular as they are, I still have some nostalgic lust for them, as these were the accessible Mospeadas of my youth. Like Ghadrack, I think I gave all mine away when I was 13 or 14... Stupid mistake. IIRC, the Henshin Robo and Robotech versions were available concurrently - I seem to remember seeing the Henshin Robos for sale far more frequently though.

Agreed. I think the same treatment might work with the VF-0 too. I had actually been waiting to see your comment on this new SV-51, seeing as how you are probably more intimately familiar with its design than most anyone else. Anything else you notice offhand?

Yep, Jenius. Consider it confirmed. The guns are much tighter now - everything on these things are tighter.

Great custom, very nice work. One question though, why blue on the canopy hem?

I assumed that those are landing gear doors, ala Toynami.

I've seen loose ones recently on ebay for as little as $25.00, but a nice complete boxed one can run $120.00-$150.00. The rarer "standard issue" alt versions usually seem to go for close to $300.00.

There are some older threads here which show pics of the specific areas to be careful with (This one for instance). Haven't had a problem with mine, knock on wood.

I'd have to agree about the bike and rider proportions. I'd imagine that the shocks must fold up into the underside of the front fairing, which would be a plus. I didn't catch the sight hatch, hafta take another look... The paint and details also look pretty poor in these pics, though it may because it's hand painted.

Thanks for the image. The picture of the "Gakken 1/12 Ride Armor" is not actually a production 1/12 Gakken; it looks like either an early prototype, or another model kit. A couple of things that do visually appeal to me on the new toynami are the fact that the feet look like they have some articulation, which was a missing feature sorely needed on the Gakken, and that the thigh-armor appears to be in the right proportions in ride-armor mode... Though it will remain to be seen how well the forward ends of the thigh-armor actually anchor to the bike... Also, the proportions of the chest/forward undercarriage, and the detailing of the vertical axle slides look a little dubious to me... I will definitely pick one up, if only to able to check it out and resell.

Nope You just need to use a little force the first time, after that, it is much more compliant. It is capable of full splay, no need to mod the landing gear, folks.

I am referring to the landing gear strut itself (clarification: this is the landing gear upright to which the wheel is attached), not the carrier within which it resides. If you look closely, the outboard side of each landing gear strut is notched just below the pivot point, which allows it to be moved laterally. The notch in the landing gear strut allows it to clear the carrier. Again, take a very close look, and you will see what we're talking about.

Wrong. Unlike the 1/60 VF-0, which has an indentation (or notch) within the carrier piece for the strut to swing into, the 1/60 VF-19 has a relief built into the the upper strut itself. Take a look, it IS present, it's just that the function is so stiff as shipped that it is not readily apparent.
