Who is going to die in Macross Frontier???
dreamweaver13 replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
aha! i noticed something. eat radioactive fish, and the next day you get it on inside a protoculture city. on the other hand, eat a giant maguro head, you spend days with only each other, doing nothing but staring up while lying in bed... ergo: radioactive fish = increased libido giant tuna head = no libido at all. -
Macross references in other anime

SHAME indeed! Considering Onizuka was this bad-ass biker back in the day, it's funny to think of him as a macross otaku. he would be beating up some rival biker gang when he would hear Ai Oboetaimasuka over the radio, and start singing along. another Nadesico reference. the factory sattelite the jovians discovered orbiting jupiter looks almost exactly like the factory satellite in SDFM. forgot to get a screencap, though. -
that would work! talk about negative reinforcement...

Macross Frontier Plot Theories...
dreamweaver13 replied to Kronnang Dunn's topic in Movies and TV Series
journey to the west, right? damn, now you make me wiki. seems the golden vajra referred to here is the weapon of the god Indra. also called the glistening vajra. hell. i dunno. vajra, the weapon of the protoculture (gods). stronger than humans (wood) and metal (zentraedi)? all going west (i.e. galactic center)? and the mind ape would be... ranka?? all sounds crazy. but who knows? -
Macross Frontier Episode 14 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
dreamweaver13 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
first time i saw it, i instantly throught "birdman". but then others pointed out that it was probably a close-up of the vajra's eyes. interestingly, the image of the eye was juxtaposed with the valkyrie's guidance system going all haywire. as far back as ep 1 (deculture ed), the vajra seems to have the ability to disrupt guidance systems (utter annhiliation of the ghost fighters). also, seeing as that the whole planet is now dead, and i didn't see any indication of the birdman/aphos folding out or leaving the planet, my guess is that it's the vajra, and not the birdman. but still i agree that the eye looks SO much like the Birdman's. and since that same "eye" was seen in the birdman movie just 4 episodes back, the similarity becomes all the more striking. -

Hi. I'm dreamweaver, and i'm a macross addict. -
wouldn't it be funny if either misa, hikaru or minmei just showed up in one episode of macross F to give a short pep talk to one of the characters... without an explanation! just show up and gone the next episode. and no one metions it again. MAN, that would beat the WTF-1 fiasco silly. seriously, even if SK does suddenly decide to reveal the fate of MR1, you really want it in just a 3-4 episode-arc of a series not devoted to them?

didn't think you were a new fan, but now that i know i am so happy to find out that MacF is indeed bringing in new fans. and not just into Macross F, but into the entire Macross Universe itself. great to have you onboard for this spectacular ride. -
and where's bobby in all this?

what's a "poll" dancer? hehe. i assume you meant pole dancer. gee, you sure seem to have a problem with empowered women, eh? as for me, i'm more attracted to strong-willed women who can stand up for themselves. "humility" bores me, and i end up having no respect for the girl at all. (yamato nadeshico without a hint of tsundere is way to boooring). but that's just me.

EDIT: wel,, i read the wiki entry, and even there, the units of the japanese army are described as "macross-esque". although, i don't know if the one who inputed that tidbit got it from an original source or press release. -

Do you think we'll get a second season of Macross Frontier?
dreamweaver13 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
not getting kanno yoko to do the music. hehe. -
i'm still not sure how much of alto's attention ranka really took permanently. ranka was in danger, kidnapped by a very deadly (as far as alto perceives) enemy, partly due to his carelessness. and all this after sharing some girly bonding moment (the hair) between them. his focused attention on ranka last episode, and his perceived snub on sheryl, could have just been because of this. remember, this is the guy who charged into a vajra mothership just to rescue luca. messianic complex, anyone? on the other hand. poor ranka. going to be ditched like a FAST pack. tsk, tsk.

case in point: mononoke hime anyone? Renato, Avatar is pretty good, animation-wise and story-wise. had reservations before since i was wary of it being just another anime wannabe. but when i gave it a chance, i found myself liking it. action sequences are superb, and the anime influence is striking but it does not rely solely on its anime roots. if animation was food, i'd call avatar the best fusion recipe so far. and besides, if you're gonna be influenced by any specific anime, you can't go wrong with a little hayao miyazaki.
