  1. and you're forgetting that she desperately needs to take a dump! tough luck.
  2. but the zentraedi/33rd fleet referred to it as a fold anomaly, as opposed to a gravity buildup (blackhole) or an anti-matter explosion. since the original barrier had something to do with fold energy, you can theoretically describe the overload and its resulting explosion as a fold anomaly. what if a device was able to simulate the sdf-1 barrier overload, and multiply its effect a millionfold. wouldn't that be almost like the dimension eater?
  3. great find! thanks for the link. won't bother to use the others as my avatar though, you got the best one, dammit. pretty sure it bothered her that she got less gigs coz of ranka. but not to the point that she regrets having helped ranka, i think. not yet, at least.
  4. movie starscream is starting to look good. hyuk hyuk. ok with this news about that screenwriter, my casting prediction shifts to Harrison Ford as Roy Focker, and Shia as Rick Hunter.
  5. I agree. i don't think March was referring to the end of Macross as a franchise, per se. rather, the end of the old generation of macross. a new starting point for a new generation of fans. macross frontier is in a unique position where it can develop its own stand-alone fanbase, and it could be the new jumpboard for future macross works. a changing of the guard, so to speak.
  6. sorry if this has been discussed already. is it possible that the dimension eater technology is based or derived someway from the barrier overload of the SDF-1? the concepts seem similar. it sould seem both resulted from an overload or irregularity in fold energy.
  7. wow, sad but possibly true. if it indeed is the final act for old-school macross, then let it stand on its own, and let it be great. so far, it has been. it would be nice if much later on, the new fans would speak with as much deference to the alto-sheryl-ranka troika as much as we did with the old triangler.
  8. just wondering... could it be possible that the delay in the charging could be more attributable to a less-efficient bridge crew and staff, then the capabilities of the mac7? let's face it, max is better as a pilot, and his birdge bunnies can't seem to keep their eyes on the monitors since he has to remind them all the time. and i remember an instance where they couldn't fire the cannon yet because of a misstep by one of the bunnies, which max didn't catch in time.
  9. hehe, won't even try. you just can't beat manimal.
  10. yeah, but why call it garbage? harsh. i actually love the concept of DYRL being a movie within the universe. brilliant, IMO. at least macross made the effort of harmonizing the two. other anime franchises (e.g. Escaflowne, X, End of Eva) just leave the audience on their own to puzzle over which is which.
  11. wow. dude, that is just... duuude, manimal?? suddenly getting painful flashbacks of a black panther.... the same frickin black panther over and over again....
  12. ok, just a random thought that just popped out.... i think the story of the 117th Research Fleet with the Macross 4-Global is itself worthy of its own anime series. not just a flashback in macross frontier. i mean, you presumably have an established macross character (Mao Nome), you have an SDF-1 designed battleship, a research-focused fleet (which would give a fresh perspective as opposed to another colonization fleet), and an encounter with a brand new spacefaring intelligent species. i would take this over macross 7 anyday.
  13. on the other hand, if those 5 1st-gen types came back from whatever place they disappeared to, armed with a combattler V-type "combine" technology....
  14. i tell you, these post SW-1 humans have no respect for warfare icons! no sir. you have the perfect symbol of human victory, and you degrade it by making tons of others like it, just to be blown up or buried somewhere? tsk, tsk.
  15. that would suck if it's true, coz it just means 5 ships made from my most beloved battleship design disappeared along with the megaroad 1. as if losing Hikaru/Misa/Minmei weren't enough!
  16. well, if the vajra found out that some of them were being experimented on by the Global, they wouldn't think twice of attacking. following from the premise of vajra as an intelligent yet peaceful species, possible scenario: human fleet discovers creature; thinks it's just an animal species, experiments on it; discovers too late that it is an intelligent species capable of space warfare; vajra attacks the Global; some survivors desire revenge or to erase their mistakes. that premise could also branch into the following scenario: vajra and the 117th fleet discover each other as intelligent species; cooperate and study each other (maybe hybrids were made at one point); a double cross happened, or a misunderstanding caused by the 117th fleet; vajra attacks Global.
  17. actually, the way sheryl has a habit of throwing away her clothes, i would have been surprised if she didn't sleep in the buff.
  18. i agree. like i posted earlier, i've been getting this ender's gamer vibe for a while now. with the vajra as the formics. (hmm.. is it a coincidence that the main pilots/protagonists are all in one school... a battle school, perhaps? ) the thing about the purple crystal giving instantaneous fold capability, and the fold communication network does seem to have parallels with the philotic/ansible communication system. In fact, when I saw the dimension eater in action, the first thing i thought was, "MD Device!!" and i also agree that while the LAI-war profit angle is a possibility, i would rather they not go there. it's old news. and if all this brouhaha about vajra and humans was, ultimately, all about LAI's making a profit out of war, it would be disappointing for me. and not at all very macrossy (it's more in the realm of gundam, actually).
  19. yeah, that's also the clear impression i got. grace was starting a war between the fleet and the vajra. as for the purpose, no way to tell yet. i'm just wondering what grace meant when she said "good luck to my friends in frontier". did she mean it as "good luck, i hope you kill them bugs", or "good luck, you're gonna need it, coz you're as good as dead."? hmmm....
  20. or is it a reaction to being less busy these days, since ranka's getting a lot of projects. particularly to alto's statement that she hasn't been too busy lately. can anyone tell from the blog entry dates? by the way... love the new avatar!
  21. yup. someone must have posted without reading the thread at all... wata bummer.
  22. I HATE FRONTIER because it's going to end someday. I HATE FRONTIER because one week now seems longer than before. I HATE FRONTIER because i'm playing the same frackin songs in my head over and over again (what bout my star.....) I HATE FRONTIER because i have to tell myself that that there is an atmosphere. Damn you Frontier!! *shakes his fist at the atmosphere*
  23. haha. even a post as simple as this sounds cool coming from sheryl.
  24. alien resurrection plot theory: NUNS is trying to create a new Minmei ("what's with this sharon apple and now galactic fairy stuff? we want the real deal!") by combining her DNA with vajra DNA, and they came up with Ranka.
  25. so what's the factor in deciding to design a macross based on the 1st gen design? ok how about this for a theory: whenever humans encounter a supervision army gunboat (like they did in SDFM), they redesign it similarly to the SDF1 and incorporate it into the fleet. research fleets being the bottom priority (as compared to the colony fleets) are assigned these old-school SA gunboats as their respective escort battleships.
