discussing the morality of war is difficult enough. discussing morality within the context of an extra-terrestrial intelligent species is an entire universe on its own. haha. it's too big for me. basically you'd have to delive into the philosophical and practical definition of morality, and apply it to a species entirely different from out own. what may be immoral for us, may be perfectly normal for them. what may be murder to humans, was something inconsequential for the formics, and absolutely noble and necessary for the piggies.

i feel you. i love that the vajra were invincible at the start. and i would have preferred that they went down with much more FIGHT in them. on the other hand, if the theory going around is right, then they're NOT the real enemy, they're just the go-between to the discovery of the real enemy. if you take it that way, then the depowering of the vajra doesn't have to be as unreasonable or absurd as you say. in fact, it could have been intended to make you feel more sympathetic to them. after all, how could you experience a paradigm shift in your views towards the vajra if they're still as bad ass and killing off VF171s and beloved SMS characters with gusto? and, oh by the way... what does Dr. Mao have anything to do with this??? yes, i am of course. when the news of the enders game movie came out, i checked some fan forums of course. and the first post that greeted me was a serious plea to "cast amanda bynes as petra. that would be perfect!!". i'm telling you, my heart almost stopped... and as if i seem to like being tortured so much, i read on and saw "Jake Lloyd for ender would definitely work!". I kept reading coz maybe they were just kidding. apparently, they weren't... i'm sure there were other absurd pleas for casting, but i seem to have forgotten most of them. thank god for memory repression.

Mr. March, just a suggestion (don't kill me, don't kill me!): you can edit out "While fold travel is nearly instantaneous for the crew of a folding space craft", and start the sentence with "Time passes much slower...". with this, the entry is relatively controversy free, imo.

i agree with you 100%. with all the ideas already produced and published, this could all be complete chance. and besides, even ender's game concepts aren't all original. influence, inspiration, pure coincidence, i don't mind either way. it's just fun to point out similarities.

normally i would wait until a series is finished. but this is macross we're talking about. it deserves much more of my attention!! and basically, i CAN'T WAIT. it's actually kind of fun. harks back to the old days, watching evangelion and other series one episode at a time. it makes you realize that the series was meant to be watched that way, with a week to build the suspense. can you imagine if ep 13 came right after ep12? all those wonderful (crazy/wrong/right) discussions about the WTF-1 wouldn't have happened. in fact that term WTF-1 would have happened. we'd be at WHAT THE --- and then ep 13 would come along and we wouldn't give it another thought anymore. haha.

i agree. i DON'T want it to end like ender's game at all. or any of the sequels for that matter. it's just similarities, after all. but hey, after ep 14, looks like you were right. who DIDN'T feel for the Vajra when they were being shot down when they already stopped fighting? Sk is really toying with our biases by this point. now that you mention the piggies... yeah, i guess the virus can play into that. if it's revealed that the vajra reproduces through that virus, then we have another "BINGO!" on our hands. or in that case, two ender species in one.

He ate the most out of the three of them. he ate the pineapple salad AND the steak!

since we're only halfway into the series, the more i see her getting the short end of the stick, the more i'm convinced that she'll be winning by the end.

i'm just concerned about the definition of "instantaneous". FTL jump in BSG is instantaneous. (here one second, there the next). But if we follow SDFM, some amount of time always passes for the passengers during fold. also with the first (deculture) episode of MacF.

Despite all the warnings, my curiousity got the best of me. but.... THANK GOD our office firewall blocked the thing! hehe. i'm safe for now.... at least until i go online from home....

The bitch is back! we will get to see the gracu-jumpu yet again. Absolutely frackin great episode!! topnotch mecha action! (171 rules!!... until Alto came in. then he ruled.) mighty fine episode, a bit dark and lots of death flags thrown all over before the battle (i thought everyone was gonna die. specially luca. i was sure he was a goner. although he's not out of the woods yet.). i love this ep. and that's just from the RAW. can't wait for the subs! quickie watching comments: alto did it again. (SDFM intro, hikaru in the cockpit looking up)! i was waiting for the old music to cue. Ma-ku-Ros! poor pixie. we did not know you well enough. twas sad to see you go. ok, who else feels sad for the vajra?? I DO!! Please, don't kill them. they stopped attacking, don't you see?? (and then followed with shots of 3 inactive vajra blown up ruthlessly. paradigm shift, anyone? question: did the surrounding vajra (units/ships/fleet) just stop moving once the queen died?
