dear god, does this have to happen EVERYTIME this thread is reopened for the latest installment? Will our lives really be that much more meaningful if we can convince the others to see a character the way we see them? sigh. oh well, but if that's your thing. ok just to join in on the actual topic: I have always been for sheryl. day one to end, and even if it doesn't happen. and i do think ranka is childish (even making jokes about Alto Minmay-Slapping her off a roof), but i wouldn't go so far as to say that she had it so good. there's a reason memories are repressed. and i'm pretty sure it will come out sooner or later, and if the writers know what they're doing (as past episodes strongly indicate), then that influx of memories will be nothing less than tragic. and here's another hint i noticed that would point out that Ranka most probably won't be the one: the brother flashback. wow, isn't it romantic that she feels the warmth of his hands? but then her subconscious kicks in and gives her a flashback of her brother. her BROTHER! ha! even her subconscious is telling Ranka that nothing "romantic" will happen between her and alto. poor girl.

Zentraedi have relatively stronger bone structures, and more resistant phsyical attirbutes then the average human, whether micronized and macronized. they were probably built/evolved that way by the protoculture so that they can withstand being a giant soldier. i would like to think that when a normal human is macronized, his bones would not be strong enough and would crumble under the pressure of his own weight. (much like an article i read that a giant insect is not scientifically possible since its frail legs would give in to its own increased mass). just my thought on the matter. that, and the fact that i've never seen a macronized human before in macross canon (movie aside) and that characters automatically assume that a giant is a "zentraedi", and not simply a macronized human. i don't think it's just a matter of economics, as you suggested, but of actual physical attributes. if a human can simply be macronized, then why the need to differentiate between the physical attirbutes of a human and a zentraedi?

alright!! go macross/kanno combo! any live performances of Lion yet on japanese music shows? wouldn't mind at all if they get enough exposure to get into Kohaku by the end of the year.

I am absolutely thrilled with the addition of the crystal earrings in Macross Zero, and I am enthralled by the possibilities of an actual link between Sheryl Nome and Mao/Sara (aside from their last name). way cool. but i think more crucial to the big picture is the way this ties the protoculture with the vajra! how in hell did the mayans get a fold crystal with so much power, when that crystal is supposedly only produced by the vajra? at the very least, it's a definitive link between the protoculture and the vajra. the fact that they made an effort to retcon macross zero to add that particular plot device means that the link will be a substantial part of the big reveal about to the nature of vajra by the end of the series.

quick question: what's the connection of the manga to the anime? is it parallel timeline? already past the series? side stories? sure i could check the manga thread to find out the answer, but i'm afraid of possible spoilers (if the manga is indeed ahead of the anime).

well, it if it's any consolation, i'm guessing that i thought of it because you made a point about the vajra being drawn to ranka, and how canaria should have figured it out. so hey, i've been reading your posts. though i must admit i didn't notice your earlier post about the 117th. (i found it only now upon searching) but i think that post was focused more on the "ranka's empathy" angle, which is why i might have missed it.

YES SO TRUE! you can't list sheryl as the worst without including misa in the list. and far as i know, misa can't even sing (well, she does sing when she's drunk and heartbroken). so even as a "psychological" attacker, she's next to useless.

well not yet, at least. but if ever the plot calls for a duet by Sheryl and Ranka, my bet is on Lion being the song.
