  1. watched the episode again, and the alto-sheryl scene still gets me good. really touching. reminds of the fanart that came out a while back. well, we waited this long (the fanart came out after ep 18, i think), but we got something almost like it.
  2. precisely what i'm talking about. i make a suggestion about a far future story (just so things can be different), but you still want details on the battles that were fought during the 1000-year interval? if the macross storyline is gonna animate humanity's battles with zentraedi fleets and SA for the next 300 or 1000 and so years, then that wouldn't make for anything different than what we've seen before, would it? and besides, how many different series would that take?
  3. What? there's a robotech 3000? what the hell is that all about? EDIT (After wiki): oh frack. well, macross should do it, instead. and it will rock.
  4. ok, if they really want to be a bit different, how about this: So far, the macross stories have been just 1 or 2 generations apart (2009-2059, hey this is one lifetime). So why not take it to the next level. 300 years ahead. or maybe a 1000 years ahead. when most of the galaxy has been colonized by humans, and they have established themselves as the next protoculture. and then a new threat will force them to revisit the reason why they started colonizing space in the first place, and rediscover earth, and the power of song. I wonder where i got this idea. all i've been doing is re-reading Asimov's Foundation novels...hmmm.....
  5. Not as lame as Minmay waking up to it all being a dream before the air show, as someone suggested.
  6. I already hinted that luca would do something like that, and gubaba reacted violently... (yeah, you know, like a guilty person. )
  7. Yeah! and we're not even mentioning his luck with women yet! wtf luck genes!!!
  8. On the other hand (just to play devil's advocate here), alto may have started to look at sheryl in a different way ever since she invited him to fly in a "real" sky. which is , more or less, what his mother encouraged him to do. so alto may have subconsciously projected his mother onto sheryl. oh no... haha.
  9. Ok, just a thought. If it's true that "luck" is a skill, as isamu said, then who is the most skilled pilot when it comes to "luck"? I think in this regard, Hikaru is at the top. way way up top. observe: Hikaru: - gets into a full blown aerial battle with no previous traning, and doesn't die. - runs into friendly fire (off-timed daedelus attack) and comes out of it with a mere concussion - was INSIDE a zentraedi ship when it was PWNED by the daedelus attack and manages to get away - blasted with several warheads during his face-off with the 3 spies (during miss macross) and lives to attack - gets stuck in a self-destructing zentraedi vessel (same episode) and is merely knocked unconscious - goes toe to toe with a pissed-off britai and lives to tell the tale - again, gets a full-on hit from a couple of warheads during SW1, and ends up alive and in earth orbit (and just in time to save his future wife) man, you just can't KILL the guy!
  10. with sheryl, i think her situation has gone far beyond the realm of "death flags" and into the realm of "inevitable death" (since her dying has been confirmed). so her impending death is not so much a guessing game anymore, but more of a plot device. thus, it's up to us now to notice some "hope flags", if there are any. one possible "hope flag" is, of course, ranka's blood as a possible cure.
  11. Holy... what the hell was that?? answer: klan possessed by the ranka-haters in MW.
  12. Yes, exactly. I mean, i would scream too. From alto's perspective, everything was all fuc*ed up by that time. whatever his feelings are for the girls, everything is a royal mess. if it's sheryl he's in love with, his loved one's about to die, his little-sister-friend has sided with the vajra, his role model (ozma) left him and even questioned the reason for his choices, his comrades have gone rogue, and he's left to serve under an usurper who, more than likely, plans to use sheryl the way he did ranka. oh man. alto plays the tough guy, but since we can tell he's quite an emotional guy deep inside, i can only imagine how all this is killing him. And for alto's sensitivity to all underlying issues, i'd have to give him props. imagine if this were Hikaru... Cathy: we're going rogue. President Mishima assasinated my father. we have to look for ranka. will you go with us? Hikaru: well, i don't know, i kinda made plans with someone... Cathy: oh come on. you can see that person anytime right, and he'll be right there when you get back, right? Hikaru: (thinking about the promise he made to sheryl) ummm.... ok. i'll just tell "him". i'm sure "he'll" understand.
  13. yup, i'm more afraid about the tragic one. doesn't have to be a "gotcha" moment, it's logical and all the elements have been set up.
  14. yup! i'm guessing someone also pointed that out before (if no one did, kudos to you! ). in fact, is it just a coincidene that Klan tries to wake up alto's feelings for sheryl while they're looking out a space window, much like the scene where claudia tries to give hikaru some "hints" about misa? EDIT: My 1000th post! yey! Global, let me hold that pipe for you!
  15. well, you did predict that the one-true-ending will come in 75 minutes... but with how crazy and unpredictable this series has been, you could even get burned with that. it also bothers me. everything has been built up for sheryl, and a solid event happened in ep22 to almost remove any doubt... but there's still 3 episodes to go, and the declaration that the triangle resolution will surprise a lot of people... oh man...
  16. You're just saying that coz that would leave Nanase entirely and unreservedly devoted to you.
  17. het no fair, using the "free to state what i see" card! what a cop-out. well, ok, if that's your view. "happy" being the relative term, of course. coz i think you're one of the few to consider that a happy ending.
  18. While i agree that the Macross Zero dogfights absolutely ROCK (and are, quite possibly, the best ones animated thus far), my sentimental favorite would still be Isamu vs. Guld, their final dogfight on earth. i mean, my jaw just DROPPED when i saw that fight. i guess by the time macross zero came along, i already expected spectacular dogfights, given the budget and recent technological advances in animation. but when MacPlus came out... man, oh man, that really shocked my systems to the core.
  19. well, if that's the case, then what are you doing citing a "Super Galactic Love Story" as a formula that would lead to an Alto-Ranka pairing? wouldn't it have been much easier to simply cite "hollywood" standards, and thus avoid any reference or inconsistency with previous macross works? we are talking about a macross series, after all.
  20. are you saying that the original SDFM falls short of a Super Galactic Love Story? and don't tell me Misa ended up as the main character and singer of that series.
  21. yes, i agree with this completely! whatever you have planned, bring it on, and make it good!
  22. i agree with you. and this is exactly what i'm afraid of.
  23. sadly, i'm even gonna say that this is probable.
  24. ending up alone or with someone else is still different than ending up 100% with sara, last i checked. ergo...
  25. Since Macross frontier is, so far, the closest thing to theme, spirit, plot and traingle to the original SDFM series, i'm guessing the next one would be a bit different. much like Macross Plus. just so the fans won't get "interstellar love story" fatigue.
