  1. In the show and animation sheets, I think we only ever see the booster on Iiaga with no guns. Memory could be wrong on that... And I'll put in another plea for the Protect Armor over the Iiaga.
  2. Thanks! Yeah, I did eventually build a counterweight onto that guy. Speaking of the Isherman, I have a little project going in that same vein in fact: Derex, I'm curious with your Monster build: looks like you built and attached the legs prior to fixing the hull halves together? Care to explain? If I recall that model has some minor fit issues and having the hull mating lines clear for filling/sanding seems preferable. Just curious.
  3. Seems much more appropriate now. + for moderators
  4. Amazing work on the Gamo. Glad to see one built already. Here's my completed custom Pz.III, which I'm pretty pleased with given my amateur painting skill. Now to fix my Char 1bis that I flubbed the first coat on.
  5. Yeah, I have heard that interpretation, and depending on my mood when I watch it I agree with it to various degrees. But I was referring to the very different approach taken in EoE vs. what we get in the series. It is certainly different, and I like both. I just don't really need a third (or fourth counting the manga which I also haven't read).
  6. I thought the series was pretty much perfect, and I also liked the alternate ending in EoE, so I never had any need for any further re-telling or re-working of the story. I didn't know there was controversy on the movie versions, but given the insanely drawn out release schedule I'm glad I skipped on 'em.
  7. I agree with your kid. I don't know anything about the guy, except that he seems to have a bad reputation, but I don't care one whit about what he is like in real life. Everything I've seen him in, he's been pretty decent. Douche or not, he's at least as good as most young actors I've seen. As for the movie, the production details seem promising, but bad writing and stupid plot have ruined solid projects before. I'm actually looking forward to this. (please please please no fireball explosions!)
  8. There are several things in your post which are not exactly true (HG/Toynami did design and release their Alpha independent of any Japanese releases, for example), but this one here ^ is laughable. The number of people who'd buy a $100 hovetank toy is probably in the triple digits, and not the upper end of that range either. Throwing in a hover cycle is going to entice no one.
  9. Amazing work on the Gamo, can't wait to see it finished. Very sharp. My adventures with modifying WWII AFVs continue. I finished another Tank Destoryer, this one using the hull of a post-war Jagdpanzer Kanone with the gun, roof, and engine deck of a Jg.Pz.IV I would have maybe liked to have further "WWII-erized" it by changing the tracks and giving it a front-mounted transmission, but I didn't want this one to take too much time. Got several projects in my head and want to get to 'em. The next one is nearly done, a dangerously up-gunned Pz.III. I initially planned for it to mount an L48 gun, but I had an extra giant barrel laying around...and it looked really good with the turret. This one might be pretty unrealistic, but I'm having a good time with it. That hull is unmodified, save for the sloped front plate. The turret from a Panther obviously, cut down and narrowed.
  10. Hmm, I am starting to regret not getting this guy, looks marvelous so far.
  11. It's basic Kickstarter policy, if a project doesn't reach it's goal, no funds are collected. HG doesn't have a choice.
  12. I am no where near as experienced nor skilled as some of the others that will give you advice here, but that might make my input that much more valuable to another beginner. Coming from years of building plastic models and engaging in lots of kitbashing, I feel most comfortable working with plastic. Plastic is easy to bond, easy to work with, easy to sand, easy to putty...the ideal medium for getting into scrachbuilding. I hope to soon graduate to working with some sort of foam, as it would greatly ease the creation of streamlined forms when used in combination with a a basic frame (as mentioned above). Due to my inexperience, the first scratchbuilding projects I tackled have been armor and tanks. Lots of flat angles, nothing that can't be fixed with a little putty and sanding, and easy to transplant surface greebles and chassis parts that might not be worth the effort to manufacture yourself. I would definitely not start out with anything too challenging. Begin with something that seems easy to build. The areas you'll have trouble with will be surprising, and it'll build confidence and experience for that next project. For me, standard sets of sheet styrene and plastic rod got me started. How you create your frame, or skeleton, or basic shape is really, I think, wholly dependent on how your mind tackles such things.
  13. I don't get it. How is this guy not a pariah? You can "bounce back" from a rape conviction? Make racist comments and you kill your career. Ok, fair enough, I'm on board with that. Rape someone and you get to be a quirky pop culture icon, and you might get your own cartoon?
  14. Hear, hear! Best looking coldwar bomber by a long way.
  15. Ryan Air was planning to introduce standing passenger accommodations (hand holds) for short flights until it was nixed for safety reasons. We've gone from flight being a near-miracle way of traveling to having it be on the same level, experience-wise, as riding a bus in a little over a generation.
  16. Red is the standard color. Blue eye is only on Corg/Battlar. In the series you see a blue eyed Iiaga, then Gurab (actually not sure I recall this one), which is "evolved" into the Gamo, and this one is evolved into the Gosu. It's pretty clear this is just one guy, evolving through the "ranks."
  17. Hmm, I want this to succeed, but I've never been a huge fan of the Gosu. Wake me up if you re-open the Protect Inbit project. Good luck with this one, hope it turns out as nice as the previous two.
  18. Convertible E-body Hemi have been out of "middle class" range for some time. I think there are less than 10 '71 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles. These were high 6 figures 15 years ago, and the market has gone insane since then for all muscle. It's a lot, but it isn't wildly out of line with where the market's been. For collectors, rarity = price
  19. Eh, Despicable Me 2 was a much more enjoyable experience than Pacific Rim, and I'm sure I'd rather see another installment from that franchise.
  20. I think everyone already understands this, but you guys keep throwing money at them by buying tickets and BDs despite it. The future movies will be just as bad or worse, and they will make more money than these. Please guys, stop rewarding them for this crap.
  21. So, eh...what part of that is inspired by WWII fighters? The twin turbo diesel or the un-necessary body flares? Not saying it isn't cool, but I'm not seeing the inspirational connection.
  22. That's gotta be like 5-10% of 747s ever, right? It isn't a small fleet by anyone's standards
