By that line of thinking, people in Zimbabwe are swimming in cash. Last I heard, one dollar is equal to about four truck loads of Zimbabwe crap-bills. With a 2 million percent inflation rate, this means that tomorrow one dollar will be equal to 8..MILLION truck loads of Zimbabwe crap-bills. What counts in such conversions is purchasing powers, not zeros. I dunno. I have no clue what the production costs of making animated films are. Not a clue at all. 5 millions bucks sounds like a pretty low budget, though. Low budget doesn't necessarily mean "suckage." Robotech, however, does Pete

Yep - although no where near as good as Polidread's art That Valk-Girl in the previous drawing is a Heart Breaker - literaly In fact - the symbol is so cool, I think there ought to be a Heart Breaker VF Team on the SDF-1 Pete

Ok. I've waited long enough. WHERE ARE THE TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN DESIGNER SUNGLASSES THAT JUST NEED TO BE MADE!? I mean seriously - isn't it just such an obvious product? Why would they NOT make them? I really want some. Pete

I need to ask: Why is the sub-title to this thread "Heroes time?" Wouldn't "Stake Please" or "YAAARGH!!" be more fitting? Or is there some significance to Heroes Time that I'm missing? (don't kill me Exo:) ) Pete

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
VFTF1 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh, don't pick fights with Taks I know what he means (I think). Best thing instead of rehashing the "OMG WHAT IS THIS!?" era of dissilussionment that visited many TF fan boards back in 07, I think we just need to accept that for various reasons - this is what the Movie designs and toys and characters look like. I enjoyed the first film for what it was, and appreciate the nods to G1, particularly Peter Cullen. I will likely enjoy this next film. Do I think it's as cool as G1? No. Do I think it's as cool as Beast Wars? No. Do I think it's better then another season of Energon/Cybertron/Armada: YES. Do I want to buy the toys? No. Am I happy that other than the Movie line, we have Masterpiece, Encore and Animated? Yes. I think there's no point in getting into a hissy fit about it either way. I mean - HasTak are pretty good about diversifying this brand so everyone finds what they love in the mythology for themselves and can ignore the other stuff. Pointing out opinions and differences is cool - but no need to call people on their views: the pie is big - everyone can enjoy their own piece Pete -
Of Course!! The BCS fails when the pilot thinks about anything related to sex! Pete

Just checked and they are indeed offline. Maybe they went bankrupt? Pete

Yeah, well - that is true. I was...12? 13? I think when T2 came out and it was awesome. I remember thinking pretty highly of myself for having a magazine fully dedicated to T2 with behind-the-scenes interviews with all of the characters. I wonder what happened to my magazine? For many years I had it lying around and now - poof - it's gone... hmm.. But at least Peter Cullen was in it. Pete

I think it's safe to say you sold something nobody would want anymore, now that the v.2 1/60s are out. Only people who would want it are die-hards. Pete

Well - it's hard not to agree with you. I think I liked it because of the emotional context. I grew up watching Transformers and it was always (and still is) a kind of formative series for me. I especially loved the Marvel comics UK version. So, I was psyched for the movie. And, that particular summer of 07, I was vacationing in Dubrovnik (don't know where/what that is? google it and go there - you won't regret it:) ) with "my girlfriends" (what I call my girlfriend and her daughter when we all go somewhere together) and they were playing it - and it was just a comibation of things. We saw it in an out-door theater, in a medievil castel, with the beautiful sea as our backdrop and even at night it was still warm enough that you could go swimming... and I guess the setting, and the background history I have with TFs, and the fact that Peter Cullen is in it - all of that just kind of caused me to like it very much. But yeah - notice how every reason I give for liking it has nothing to do with the movie itself Pete
-
I honestly think the undies were always cannon. It's just that the string is so thin that you can't see it at an angle in the screne shots we get from the series However - it is true that this is an urgent and important issue. We should dedicate more time and effort to the burning question of whether the undies are cannon or not. It'll make or break whether this statue is a viable collectors item. Pete
-
So cool And in the up close shot we see that the undies are cannon - so there Pete

I think it's an exageration. I'm willing to bet that COMPARED to Ranka and Sheryl, Klan gets proportionally more screen time in the movie - which might even make it SEEM like she's the star. That or maybe it'll be a POV thing? Personally, I think it's a smart move. Why? Because Klan was kind of in the sidelines in Frontier - and the series is strong enough on its' own merits (animation and story wise) that a movie focused heavily on Ranka/Sheryl would not be very amazing - I mean - what? They're going to animate them better? You can't really get better than what we got in Frontier anyways. And just retelling the story would be dull, while altering it massively would be wanky. So... it is sensible then to POV the story via Klan, or to focus more heavily on Klan. We'll see... Oh - and hopefully this means we can expect a Quid Rau in 1/72 scale from Bandai Pete

Thanks for all the tips'n'links guys. Just to show that I'm using them: Too bad I ruined the tampoo printing sheet for my Unicorn Anyways - I looooove how the Crossbone looks now. Skull Heart how cute I think I ought to maybe put the ZAFT prints on the Force Impulse - except that Zodiac Alliance Freedom Treaty really really sounds bad ZAFT - how daft Pete

Ah, but you forget my undying love of Misa Pete

Now, I swear to God I was just searching for more infor about the Mega House Ranka 1:8 and happened to come upon this. I have no idea how reliable the sight is, or the news for that matter. But hey ho. There you go. Sorry if it's already been posted. Pete

You didn't like the Transformers movie? What did you find un-good about it? I thought it was pleasant enough. There were lots of plot holes - mainly in terms of the logic (or lack thereof) of some of the character's actions ("let's take the All Spark to the middle of a densely populated city and make our last stand there!") - but I thought Shia LaBeouf's over the top high powered acting really carried the film and made even the craziest parts palpitable (see his brilliant explanation of Megatron's evil under the Hoover Dam - that bit of text could have sunk the film - "he wants to conquer the universe" sounds pretty silly when said outside of the context of a cartoon - but Shia actually managed to pull it off). As for the Movie Posters - they're not fall on the floor funny - they are actually just really ...honest and true I think if they really made movie posters like that, then more people would go see the movies Pete

Yeah - I also like animated better. But maybe this is because in the end, it's kind of hard to love Transformers as "real robots" - they just lose a lot of their unique character. It's amazing how - looking back - the endearing thing about them was the extent to which they were anthropomorphic, and simple - boxy even. I just have trouble finding any of these characters (except Prime) endearing. Also - about the voyager Bumblebee with Sam: you just know that if Takara-Tomy were handling it, we would get a cute Mikhela PVC Well.. I dunno - I don't like 'em. I'll stick to Animated. Still gotta get myself a Wreck Gar and Swindle. Also - will definitely stick to Encore reissues Pete
-
Well that's cool anyways It's not like I don't have a ton of extra Strike Cannons anyways And some extra TV fists are always pleasent Pete

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
VFTF1 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I sometimes get the impression that Bandai's 1/60 DX Chogokin Macross Frontier VF-25F Messiah (Aruto) is a Bootleg of its' self. They probably have the super cool Soul of Chogokin quality sample locked up in their offices and sourced out the production of the DX to a bootleg company... Pete -
With all due respect, but I am not the type of person that can practice on girls I don't love in order to give it my all for the girl I love I'll paint the VF-25 as my first model - the challenge will encourage me to be super careful Speaking of super-careful... Last year, I built the Crossbone Gundam (second MG kit I ever built) - but didn't have the strength left to build his Full Cloth. Later came Turn-A, then a big pause in building Gundams, then the HG OOs, then I finally returned to MGs with Unicorn... anyways - on a bit of a "Gundam High" (no glue required ) I went straight back to my Crossbone Full Cloth after finished Force Impulse and... He's great! I love this design. It's kind of corny, true - but it's just soooo cool Gundam Pirate Tee hee Still have to build his Crossbow and Sword and shield and probably a few other weapons. This guy is "over-weaponized" Pete

It was? Since when? Mine should be here on Monday and I'll be surprised if it doesn't have a strike cannon. Pete
