Dag. I live in a foreign country too. But Poles are horrible sticklers for correct english because they are afraid of "embarrassing" themselves - so EVERY time there is SOMETHING written in english, the worst possible thing that can happen is someone will either put too many "the" in or leave "the" out (since there is no "the" in Polish). So sadly - I do not see such wonderful things around. But looking at these pictures, I can imagine that if I finally did make it to Japan/China/Southeast Asia - I'd probably be looked upon as a lunatic for walking down the street laughing uncontrolably These are just TOO GOOD. This is great stuff. Pete

This is a good point. And it really has little to do with being a "loon." I mean - when a fellow day dreams - various things come to mind. It seems the 21 requires full concentration at all times (thus the meditative fingers pose that Guld takes) - he has clearly been training "clearing his mind." Maybe Guld took this project as a means of psycho-therapy as well? Perhaps it was a chance not only to fly planes, but also to straighten himself out? I mean - I never saw him ENJOYING being a loony. You and your reasonable well written arguments! Takes all the fun out of whining On a serious note - I guess I am whining. I LOVE the Animated line - the engineering is great and the designs are so FUN and artistic and abstract and at the same time pretty perfect - not even homages - spirits of the G1 line... really good stuff. Henkei is nice too. My beef with the movie line was that something was missing. I'll probably get the new ROTF movie line anyways... oh - speaking of which... Where's Blackout? He was the best of the Decepticons - he must come back Pete

The most generous comment I can make about that one is: "24th Century Fitness Exercise Video" Ah-1! AH-2! Ah-1-2-3! Flex those abs! Burn those cals! Come on ladies - let's get rid of those thunder thighs!" Pete

Yeah...my girlfriend is older than me, has a "really important job" where she bosses people around and has the reputation for being a "demon lady," but at the same time is cute, good looking and oscilates between a foul temper and womanly helplessness. She also generally fit Misa's looks (brown/hazel long hair, green eyes, and those cute little ears:) )... In any event - sorry if I came down too harsh on Minmey - I really do like her. The thing is, whenever I write about Minmey and Misa comparatively, I think it always seems like I'm coming down harsh on Minmey because - by comparisson - I'm praising Misa to the moon I guess this is possible. She seemed authentically "In love" when Hikaru busted through the Zentran ship's wall to "save her" (and failed). HOWEVER: Notice that Misa COULD have also taken the "well I don't care what you did/have been doing with this woman [Minmey]" routine as well and the two ladies could have sat there and argued it out. Instead - they reacted to the sitution in accordance to their characters: Misa: broke down crying and told Hikaru to go after Minmey because Misa accepted that a) obviously no man would ever really want to be with such a shrew like her and b) she loved Hikaru and wanted him to be happy - even if that meant "giving him" to Minmey. [All of this indicates a very lady-like and caring character that is humble, and focused on pleasing the man]. Minmey: Ran off in "tears" thereby giving a not-so-subtle hint to Hikaru which read: "Run after me - you know you want to - now you're going to have to after what you said - now you'll have to beg me! I'm waiting! Here doggy! All the other guys run after me. Here boy!" [which indicates a very lowly character that sees men as toys and which is aware that there will always be hords of men running to get her, and which NEVER asks whether any of those men are actually worth it]. This is also supported by how she reacts to Hikaru when Hikaru DOES run after her. She goes so far as to say that she doesn't care if everyone else on the Macross dies. That's not love. That's selfishness and pettiness. That's looking at Hikaru as a teddy bear or a box of chocolates that only she can have. It's totally the opposite of Misa who sees Hikaru as a human being with the right to be happy with another woman - and takes Hikaru's love seriously enough to believe that he might want to run after Minmay out of authentic love... As for Hikaru being the only meany in the traingle - Well - you COULD say that; but it's more likely that the guy is ALWAYS at fault in such situation - and that is the fate of guys. We're there to comfort women, to make them feel good, and then to get a barrel of crap unloaded on us and be called worthless and chucked away until the next day, when they need a hug or a lightbulb screwed in. Pete

She looks wierd, not cute. Not my cup of tea. Pete

No it's not. Because they would have to spend lots of money to re-do the packaging for one Valkyrie to be without a strike cannon. I personally think that what they have going is the best of all worlds. All super and strike parts included with every valkyrie. Don't tell him that Exo will eat you for breakfast if you do Pete

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX

Wait - so 00 isn't Tomino? Who is doing current Gundam now - and why is Tomino not involved? Hah! Using this information, google, and my calculator I will be able to narrow down your aproximate age - and then, armed with that information, I will crush the Autobots and rule Cybertron for ever! (initiate smoker's lung laugh) I've seen a bit of G-Savior, which I assume this refers to, and (speaking on the basis of the small fragment I saw) what really makes it painful are the terrible actors. The actual CG graphics are ok - not great - but not horrible. However, the internal "cockpit" looks like something from a Doctor Who set, and the pilots look like they got rejected while auditioning for PHOTON. If you remember the series PHOTON, then you win a cookie. Pete- 3823 replies

I'm not I don't even know what she looks like. Since we're on the subject of Macross II... other than the NUNS - is there anything (aka scenes/looks/climate/aesthetic) from Macross II that made it into Frontier? I haven't seen MII, mind you, and don't particularly want to - but just wondering. Pete

Thanks I'm definitely gonna get her She'll look great with Minmey and Yoko Pete

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX

I just want to say that I've seen one episode of Turn-A - namely Episode 8. I watched it because I wanted to see the episode with the cow that came with my MG Turn-A Gundam. I am still dissapointed in my 1/100 cow. It's too big. It's supposed to fit in Turn-A's missile compartment but doesn't really... Anyways - I liked the feeling and the mood to Turn-A; also liked the mecha - particularly the...err...green things with the long arms...Kapok? Kapowee? Kapiokas? Whatever - they were cool. I also liked the retro/alternative technological landscape in terms of aesthetics. The one problem with Gundam is that there's so much of it to watch... dag. Building Gundam kits is easier than getting straight on this continuity. Pete- 3823 replies

So Starscream is EMO? Deluxe Class Bumblebee in the last line was a mess of panels dangling off of a knock off Gundam-internal Frame. Deluxe class Camaro Bumblebee had no hand. Neither of the two looked anything like the Movie Bumblebee. Although, of course, both of them were miles better than Supreme Bumblebee, which can only rival Beast Machines Cheetor for the Worst Transformer Toy In History Award (sad that I say this about a star character from the live action movie). Oh - and "new" Bumblebee voyager with sam also has no hand apparently? Yes, it can. But it has to be gun metal, with die-cast parts and lots of little moving parts and details and it has to be big. Starscream's design is sweet - just like all of the Movie designs. On screen - they look freekin' awesome. Really. These things can be done justice. Hasbro has just been making blocky robots or "pretender shell" robots (BW) for the past 30 years and doesn't have ANY clue as to how to create functional "real robots" like what the movie designers gave us. They are therefore failing at making the toys as good as the movie line. I understand a couple of compromises - but please - LOOK at the movie design of any character and look at these abominations. They are so totally utterly crappy. It's a shame. I understood the initial movie line toys being sucky because they supposedly didn't have time. But with the returning cast not changing their CG models (much), you'd think Hasbro had time to create some decent toys. They instead give us this crudzola. I generally share this sentiment. It's "nice" (I guess) to see some hands on Starscream - but...um...it's still all wrong. They should NOT have done tweaks to existing moulds. They should have created all new moulds. The only thing that can save this is if they introduce a seperate line of more movie accurate high priced figures. But in general, in all honesty, all of their toys are just INTERPRETATIONS of the Movie characters - not representations. That's what I've heard too. A pity then that it looks like such an over-grown poopy. And did you notice the yellow steering wheel? I don't mind a lack of detail and "cartoonish" looks in Transformers - really. But the movie line, if it's going to be based on the designs of the movie, should be more real robot. The colors on the line are all garrish - the paint jobs are flat. The details are random, haphazard and not based off of the movie design schematics. Yamato should be making these toys. Pete

In a way, I honestly feel sorry for you, given the experiences you've had (as presented in your sig). Really. All of my Yamatos are in pristine shape, have tight joints, and very durable, and I transform them multiple times and do battle with them against Transformers, SOCs, Gundams and everything in between. Heck, my VFOS was once GIVEN (by accident while I was away) to a 6 year old boy and guess what? NO DAMAGE. I am however glad that you enjoy your Bubblegum. Last time I checked this thread and asked about this figure, I was told something along the lines of "OHMYGODFLOPPYMESSQCNIGHTMARESTAYAWAY!" and that was that. So - here's the question: Would you recomend I get one of these? Or three? I like the girls' uniforms mainly. I am not a big motorbike fan and don't really like the idea of transforming bikes, but I do like Yamato and am always interested in giving more of their products a shot. What say you? Recomend? Pete

Thank you. That is a wonderful tutorial. Hopefully, I will slowly begin to use these methods. However, I have just now pretty much gotten accustomed to building the kits. I remember building my first Gundam - Wing Zero - and snapping the yellow crown horn thing ... My Turn-A Gundam has a broken bit on his gun... I still have to finish building my Crossbone's "Full Cloth" unit... My Unicorn is a mess in terms of stickers. I won't fool myself into thinking that my Gundams are going to start looking THAT pretty any time soon. In fact - knowing myself - I imagine that I will become EXTREMELY serious about modeling my 1/72 Macross Frontier models. Those things I plan to make look adorable and will likely even try to paint them and make them look fab. Gundams - well - I'm learning. As for the tools - thanks Vifam7 for the list. Problem is - I have no clue where to look for these in Poland. I don't even know what they're called in Polish and I don't remember if there are any hardware stores here. Next time I'm in the city, I'll look for this stuff. Although I think I actually have most of it in my basement. I just don't have a lot of time to spend on looking around... But eventually, I will get more organized. Hey - at least I'm BUILDING the darned things Pete

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

Proof that hatred can sometimes be a good thing. Because they're durable. Until a steel screw lodged within a thick plastic frame breaks in half that is. ....oh wait - entering sarcasm mode again... Pete -
Where can I read this? As for tools - I agree - must get myself some tools. Will check around locally next time I'm in town to see if I can get SOMETHING to use for modeling. Excaliber also completed Very cool Gundam Pete

Does it say anywhere (can't read original Japanese) on the ad/poster from the first post WHEN it is going to come out? Like what month? Pete
-
A great idea that went down the toilet because Bumblebee has AGAIN been given a different design that looks like anything BUT what we saw in the movie. In fact- I'd say this would be worthy of Voyager McDonalds Happy Meal Bumblebee ... Going in the right direction - but I want better pics of that Starscream Pete

Only if the alternative was another Robotech movie. Pete

I think it went out of its' way to show that if the aim of the Military is to replace pilots with AI systems, then you make sure that your non-AI fighter test pilots are insubordinate loonies who crash planes left and right OR Zendradi with sub-conscious remnants of their initial bio-engineering compelling angry rape-inducing outburts when they find themselves under stress (and put the latter into the plane that relies on brain wave control). Sorry for the double post, but I just finished my Force Silloquette and it is sweeet The whole Force Impulse Gundam is amazing - mainly because of the COLORS. This thing is unpainted - and I honestly see no reason to paint it. I mean - these colors look alive! And the panels are really well done too - the whole thing looks very vibrant. Bandai has definitely progressed with the MG line from kits of earlier years: Pete

This looks great Any chance it will at least be translated into French so I can at least half-way understand it? Pete

Soo... sorry if the only reason this isn't being discussed is because everyone but me knows the answer but... Any news about the Macross: Frontier movie? Do we have any idea when it will come out? What - if any - design changes to the VF-25 there will be etc etc? Pete
