  1. Ok, thanks. Might try the Pine Sol method. I already tried the paint thinner wipe and it really smears the paint around pretty badly. Pine Sol isn't going to melt the plastic, is it?
  2. Hi everyone, I need some suggestions on stripping Testors enamel paint from a 1/48 valk. I buggered up a project and I need to correct it, if possible. The basic off-white color is the plastic color, so if I can strip the paint effectively, I can simply re-paint to achieve what I wanted to do in the first place. Thanks for any help you can give me.
  3. Ehhh yeah I won't be spending that kind of cash with the inaccuracies like this. Here's hopes that maybe it was just mistransformed?
  4. Man, that Brush Script font looks really tacky. Yuck.
  5. Thanks. He recently got some of the Revoltech VF-1s and he wants to make a Jetfire, so I'm trying to get him to bring his 1/48 back so I can fix the wings.
  6. These are all the photos I took. If you want more I'll have to ask my buddy if he can take some. http://flickr.com/photos/44124305550@N01/s...57594581298979/
  7. Looks like I've been beaten to the punch. Testors Guard Red is a pretty good match for the Hikaru red. That's what I used on my buddy's custom Jetfire. It comes in a spray can. You will probably want 2 cans. You will also want to use primer. I used Citadel white primer, but if you can find it, the Testors primer will probably be fine. For my photos, I just have a couple sheets of white poster board tacked up so it curves down behind my photo subject. Then just make sure you've got lots of light.
  8. I don't own a GBP because it makes it so the valk can't transform. If it can't transform, it may as well be a Gundam.
  9. It bothers me that you didn't lock the BP8 into place on the Virgin Road, but I'm OCD that way. Nice conversions.
  10. My photo back up the thread shows a 4" and a 6".
  11. Well, you're in luck. I found the little baggie for the screws and nuts in my wastebasket so I can tell you what I bought. Supplies needed: 1 - package of #6-32 x 1" screws and nuts 1 - 1/8" Drill bit 1 - 1/2" Drill bit (must be twist bit, not spade) 1 - Flexi stand 1) Remove original screws from flexi stand. 2) Use 1/8" bit to drill holes through to bottom of stand. IMPORTANT: Do this BEFORE using the 1/2" bit. This will allow the 1/2" bit to "center" on the holes. 3) Use 1/2" bit to drill shallow holes into the base of the flexi stand. They only need to be deep enough to drop the nut into the hole. 4) Attach flexi stand bits using new #6-32 x 1" screws and nuts. 5) Vacuum up plastic shavings. You will have a LOT.
  12. Mine stripped, but I decided to solve the problem by getting a package of screws and nuts from the hardware store. Unfortunately I didn't make a note of what size I bought. I took one of the screws with me and bought 1" long screws with nuts. I drilled the original screw-holes through to the bottom of the base using a 1/8" bit, then turned the base over and used a 1/2" drill bit (note: do NOT use a "spade" bit, use a normal "twist" style bit) to drill out some shallow holes on the bottom, just deep enough to hold the nut. Then I just put the longer 1" screws through and attached the nuts. I preferred this solution because I can now loosen, adjust, and tighten the flexi stands if I want to.
  13. Got my flexi stands set up. Sorry, the pic is a bit blurry. Didn't feel like going back to re-shoot.
  14. I agree with what you're saying about selling airplanes, but doesn't the F-22 offer the added bonus of stealth characteristics? I recall someone saying (and this might be unfounded rumor) that it's almost as radar-resistant as the F-117A.
  15. Agreed. I just can't get into a fighter jet that's magenta.
  16. That looks great! I really hope Yamato releases a scheme like this because I don't think I'm brave enough to paint a $200 toy of my own.
  17. Finally got myself a VF-1A cannon fodder. Here's pics of my new baby. Used a Gundam Marker to panel line it.
  18. If lovin' the YF-21 is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
  19. Wha?! I still have my original Starscream. I'm not seeing any tan here.
