  1. It's not just the one missile bay door. It's one of many issues: -Missile bay door -Misproportioned fighter mode -Tiny air intakes -Legs stick out WAY too much in fighter mode -Legs stick out WAY too much when linked to Tread - Saggy inaccurate linked mode - Tail fins don't tuck into forearms fully .... and there are others I can't think of off the top of my head, all yours for the price of $200+. If the thing only cost $100, we could say "Hey it only costs $100, so I can deal with all the inaccuracies and weird stuff." But it doesn't. It costs $200+, which is a premium price for a toy with many questionable design issues. Many of us want to like this toy, but for the price, we just can't. Personally, I could overlook the missile door and the fins not folding into the forearms if I knew that some of the issues were the fault of mistransformations. I hope I'm wrong and that the toy is much better than we're expecting. Unfortunately I don't think I'm wrong.
  2. I love the Strike jokemachine!
  3. Kawamori likes to use LEGO to rough out his variable mecha concepts. It is not going to be a LEGO set.
  4. Not perfect? Dude, the thing doesn't line up with anything. The tail fins are sticking out, the legioss sags off the front, and the feet stick out at a weird angle. It's sort of like the model designers just kind of said "Meh. Close enough." Several orders of magnitude from "not perfect".
  5. This image really shows what's wrong with this set. Yuck.
  6. I love it enough to build it in LEGO. http://fleebnork.com/?m=gunstar
  7. I love the original movie... one of my 80s faves. I'm not optimistic about this sequel effort, however.
  8. I don't have the 1/55.
  9. Yes, he said that. Does that mean no one is allowed to disagree? I disagreed with his assertion that it was a "nice transforming jet toy" precisely because it's ugly in jet mode. I have an old Leader-1 Super GoBot that has a nicer jet mode.
  10. I think you did a nice job with the craftsmanship but some of your aesthetic choices I find a bit questionable. It looks a bit "busy" in 'bot mode, too many autobot symbols, and the reflective tape stuff looks a bit odd. But hey, it's your Jetfire. Hope you enjoy it.
  11. I found Flash and O.G. Snake Eyes at Target last night. w00t!
  12. I'm going to have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there. It looks like a hunk o' junk with a jet canopy and wings on top. Bot mode aside, you can't call that jet mode "sleek" by any definition. Meh. My $.02
  13. Yesterday I was able to put the finishing touches on the boosters and leg armor, so now Masterpiece Jetfire has all his pieces. "I call him Mini-me."

  15. I am going to buy this so HARD.
  16. Eh. No.
  17. The weathering seems a bit heavy to me.
  18. Oh man... I'm gonna have to go buy another Detolf.
  19. 1) Not a jet. 2) Doesn't transform. Oh well, that's just one more for you guys.
  20. Just finished making those little edits myself.
  21. Unless... y'know... the other guy has a LASER RIFLE.
  22. That looks really good, Toboro. Where did you get the large Autobot logo for the boosters? Are those some of the clear Autobot labels from Reprolabels?
  23. When I head to my friend's place to deliver the Jetfire, I plan to finish the black stripes on the FAST pack armor and boosters. I'm going up there next week, so I hope to have some pictures for you guys when it's all done. Thanks. It was a LOT of work.
  24. FYI, Testors "Guard Red" is a nearly perfect match to the Yamato red paint. I just posted updated photos in my Jetfire thread if you want to take a peek: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=21930
  25. Update: Back in January I suggested to my friend Chris that I paint his Jetfire so it had the proper stripes. I neglected to use primer when painting, and I ended up with a big mess of red paint oozing into areas I had taped off. Long story short, I repainted the entire thing, and made sure all the little paint details were like G1 Jetfire. The "backpack" is red because on the original, there is a red piece that snaps over the "backpack" to hold the boosters. Since the 1/48 Yamato doesn't require this piece, I decided to paint only the underside of the backpack red to simulate the look. The top side is white. Chris took the FAST packs home with him, so I'll have to get more photos once everything is back together. New pics:
