  1. For me, it's about the perfect transformation. When I first heard that the 1/60s required you to remove the legs, I was uninterested. Otherwise I'd probably have a shelf full of them.
  2. Yeah, dude. I'm still trying to get my friend to bring it back for a second paint session so we can make it more authentic.
  3. Ah, I really don't remember. It was Testors Model Master Guard Red.
  4. I thought I had seen someone had made transparent red replacement visors and posted them on MW before... does anyone know where to get one?
  5. Thanks. I've been trying to convince Chris that we need to have another paint session to make the stripes red.
  6. Yup. He's going to order a gundam marker... probably in gray. I'll post updated pics once he finishes the panel lines.
  7. I'd be happy to discuss it if you are interested in commissioning a project.
  8. Yes. In the description I explained why we didn't repaint the stripes on the wings... I'll add "and fuselage" to avoid further confusion.
  9. Thanks for the compliment, but I feel like I should give some props to Aurascope's Jetfire. He made me believe I could do it too. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=14879
  10. Hi Everyone, Like many of you, my first encounter with a VF-1 was through Transformers. I recently bought the 1/48 Stealth with Strike packs, and my buddy Chris was so impressed he decided to take the plunge and we would create for him a "Masterpiece" Jetfire. He bought the Hikaru VF-1S and the Strike/FAST Pack set from HLJ. Today he came over to my house and we spent the afternoon working on it. Actually, since I had more experience with models and paint, I spent most of the time working on it. I found that Testors Model Master "Guard Red" is a pretty fair match to the Yamato red paint. So, without further ado, here are the photos! The Autobot logo doesn't show in jet mode because we placed it on the heat shield. You'll also note that the Macross kite is still on the wing... because it's a Matsushiro Jetfire. Ok, actually Chris didn't want me to completely disassemble his VF-1 to be able to properly tape and paint the wings and fuselage, so we skipped it. He didn't mind having black stripes instead of red. We got decals from Reprolabels.com. The Autobot logos for the FAST packs were a bit small, but they look ok centered on that area. If it were mine, I probably would've figured out where to get bigger logos, but Chris was happy with them. The Reprolabels logo worked really well on the heat shield, I think. I also got a couple of pictures of the paint process. Here's my getto paint booth... the cockpit pieces look "lumpy" because they have lots of masking tape on them to protect the canopy and create lines for the nose stripe. I used Citadel (Warhammer) white primer. Here's some carnage from disassembly. I think this is about as much as Chris could stomach, with the price of this toy. Anyway, it was a fun project. I would have liked to spend a bit more time on making it a more accurate Jetfire, but Chris went home happy with a cool toy for his display shelf. All in all, a fun way to spend a Saturday. Chris is going to order a Gundam marker and panel-line his Jetfire so I may post updated photos in a couple weeks. Enjoy!
  11. I would LOVE a VF-2SS. I don't care who makes it.
  12. Hi Everyone, I got my new decals from Takatoys today and put some of them on my Stealth Strike VF-1J. By the way, I have done some panel-lining with a Gundam marker. From the perspective of the photos, you can't see what a crap job I did cutting the kite on the wing. Takatoys was really quick with the shipping and I'd recommend him to anyone. Check 'em out.
  13. I just wanted to say that I ordered some stickers from takatoys and I received them promptly. I'm in the process of cutting and placing them now. Kudos!
  14. I'd buy either and/or both. The VF-2 and the VF-4 are my two favorite designs (followed closely by the YF-21, which is probably going to happen this year ) Unfortunately the VF-2 isn't likely to happen at all. Maybe there's some small chance of the VF-4. I just want to see some more futuristic designs. Oh hell, Yamato, just make one of everything. You know we'll buy them.
  15. Oh my, that is quite nice. I may have to spring for that when a box set is released.
  16. Fighter mode looks great! I think I'll be waiting just a little while to see how the gunpod issue goes. Thanks for the review.
  17. Speaking as a VF-2 lover, I didn't really care that much about Macross II. I just love the design of the VF-2. It's wicked awesome. Like Ninjas awesome. But yeah, I'd love a VF-4 also.
  18. Man I'd LOVE a VF-2SS. I know Macross II wasn't all that popular, but I sure do love that mecha. Also: VF-4 plz.
  19. I could use a set of Anasazi37's Low Vis decals for the 1/48 VF-1. PM me if anyone has extras.
  20. Looks like I joined the community a little late. I'd have liked to have a set of the Low Vis decals to put on my 1/48 Stealth. I've been married for 10 years, so I understand your choice to move on. Best of luck.
  21. Here's a cockpit photo I snapped the other night. It's not easy getting those decals in place. For one, they're not trimmed close enough. I took matters into my own hands and trimmed them with an XActo knife and then used tweezers and a fine tip burnishing tool to get them in place. Phew.
  22. Yes, the new YF-19 looks really nice. And of course, we all know that if they make a YF-19, a YF-21 is sure to follow... which would mean I'd have to get that too.
  23. Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks, but I have visited this site for a few years. I finally took the plunge and bought the VF-1J Stealth and the Super/Strike Fastpack set for it. I'm overall very impressed with this toy. The design is excellent, and there are some nice details where Yamato really didn't have to add them. I'm not much of a repaint buyer, so I doubt I will buy any more VF-1 models... well maybe if they make a 1/48 VE-1. I probably will be picking up a VF-0A next. Anyway, here are some quick photos I took on the kitchen table last night. It was like christmas. The rest of my gallery is here. Anyway, this is my first post... Hi!
